i think the trade ups breaking point was when the new ui came and you could no longer draw funnies when losing money

It's like in any stock market-- when there are enough people, and enough liquidity, everything becomes priced in. The more people looking in every little crevasse, the less opportunity to find significantly "undervalued" items.

I never forget the april fools mcskillet did back in 2015 I think were he said that reds can be traded up to a knife. AUG Chameleons went like from 5 euros to 10 :D

Just got back into doing tradeups last week after taking about a year and a half off, and yeah it's certainly quite a bit different now. Definitely still profitable if you know where to look, but way more complicated and time consuming now to find good tradeups and good places to buy the skins you need. Honestly probably not even particularly worth it for the amount of time it takes, but at least it's more engaging than investing.

you ever look back through your inventory/market history and see the time you did a trade up of $.80 usps & m4a1 dark waters, got a field tested case hardened ak47 then sold that for like $9 later? i should stop looking at my inventory history. had so many good skins i sold off for a few bucks that are now worth hundreds or thousands. crazy to think of what an investment opportunity csgo skins became over the years.

I used to do 50/50 $30 same collection tradeups in 2014-15 for either FN AK Vulcan ($60) or M4 desert strike ($2), and for AWP Asiimov or AUG Chameleon, etc.

It's also worth mentioning the fillers from drops became rarer since non-prime = no drops

Yeah channels like yours showing how to profit really killed this. Love the channel but it happens. Just like rust, rust ust to be fun and had a good community but after youtubers it became a toxic Zerg kos mess.

Literally in the last 2 weals or so, the prices of the snakebite mil specs grew like ~50% after the ak slate trade up got featured in Sparkles’ and TechSavyScientist’s videos. From 14 to 23 cents.
