It's a great looking watch. I had one for about a year. When you opened the crown and moved the hands you could feel the movement moving inside the case along with the dial moving slightly. In addition it lost about 15 seconds a day. So in my opinion you are not getting Rolex quality with Tudor but it's much cheaper. At this price though I didn't expect the movement to be moving inside the case.

I've been looking at Tudor a lot , this is one of the models that has my interest, I like how this one and the diver look really vintage, since I prefer vintage, but it would be nice to have something new

Found your channel from the TGV video and Im glad I did because I am absolutely CLUELESS when it comes down to vintage watches. I definitely want vintage watches in my collection but I think it will be difficult finding many options since I dont like anything smaller than 39mm and I prefer steel.

Glad you found us!! If you have any questions, let me know!!
@gulfmen868 жыл бұрын
Theo and Harris I have tons of questions but I dont want to bombard you with them LOL so I'll ask two questions. 1. How does one know if all the parts in the watch are authentic? Especially the old watch brands that may have gone out of business 2. I'm not a small watch kind of guy... I prefer 42mm but I dont mind 39-40mm. What is my best option for a vintage watch that size in steel? Thank you good sir.
@azhawk5168 жыл бұрын
I think this is a cool looking watch. The price is getting up there for a ETA based watch. Not a deal breaker. I think the Hamilton Pan Europ chrono would be a less expensive alternative. It would be cool if Hamilton would bring back the Pan Europ Chrono. The Pan Europ kind of fit into the same category (fun watch with, throw back design cues) as this watch at a much better price.

+Theo and Harris i am absolutely in love with this watch and I ve been saving for a nice piece. Now my problem is to choose between the speedy pro and this one. But I ve got to ask, isn't the fastrider closer to the daytona? (despite the more garish color scheme) Great vids, ive subscribed

Have you heard of the ARSA Super Sous Marine? Around the same time in the 1970's ARSA produced a chronograph using the exact movement as the original Tudor Monte Carlo -Valjoux 7734 manual winding. ARSA actually owned the company that once produced the Valjoux calibers, so in fact could be considered an inhouse movement version of the Tudor Monte Carlo, which in turn is using a 3rd party movement! If you are after a value for money chronograph with the similar design as the Tudor but at a fraction of the price, I would consider the ARSA.....And now for the best part -The 1971 Tudor Monte Carlo sells for around $30K-$40K on chrono 24. The contemporary Tudor Heritage chrono is around $12K. ....The ARSA is currently around $1000. Do a google search on ARSA. They are still in business today and are the leaders in making braille watches for blind people. They have a great history of watch making. ...Happy hunting. www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/arsa-precision-super-sous-marine-1774465716

Tudor is at the price point (relative to most middle class salaries) that Rolex was at about 10 years ago. Subs and GMTs used to be expensive, but totally obtainable for most skilled professionals and office workers with a little savings. Now Tudor is stepping in to fill that price point and with their return to the US market in the last few years I think you will see Tudor start to really find a place in the mainstream watch world.
@TheoandHarris8 жыл бұрын
I love the sound of that!!

For this price point I would also look at the Omega speedmaster Mark II getting a 3300 coaxial with a silicone spring and a column wheel chrono would be the movement nerd choice. If you want style I would also look into some of the Sinn Navitimer Chrono's as well.

I like the design of the Sinn Navi, but after trying both watches on, the thickness of the Sinn is just a tad too much. The Tudor, however, is just at my limit. Plus the color. I can pick one up new grey market for under €2500.

Tudor needs to build a bright white dial with black bezel of this model.
@BLKMeSa8 жыл бұрын
Great video, thanks. Always enjoy these. Tudor is coming up big and IMO is overtaking its parent in the way you mention, heart. If they made this chrono with an in house movement with a larger power reserve, it would grab the attention of movement nerds as well. I agree with your theme of "heart of Rolex" - I really love the older Rolex and Tudor subs. They're more casual and tough looking and look better than the current Rolex subs. The new subs are almost too dressy; too shiny. I like the heritage BBs but they're actually quite dressy in person because of the smoother coin bezel. If Tudor came out with a snowflake sub in the older washed out blue color or something along those lines, they would kill it IMO. I'd buy one immediately. They should make the teeth of the bezel on the heritage BBs lines deeper and more aggressive. Anyway, I'm expecting big things from Tudor in the coming years. I'd love to see Rolex make a retro sub in a slightly bigger size (I have larger wrists) - something along the lines of 41 or 42 mm. A nice ghost bezel with the new 3255 movement would be incredible. But they're probably not going to do that and just rest on their laurels and leave the sub as it is for another 5 years!

Great video my friend👍🏽 definitely one of the watches I really love, and the only reason that I didn't go for it is that it doesn't have an in-house movement!! other than that it's one of the most sportiest gorgeous watch out there, and probably if Rolex put one of the new in-house movement that they have for the new Tudor's.. even if the price increase to $5000 or $6000 I will definitely go for it, it has the heritage The history and it's beautiful+ it screams fast cars

For service, you send it to Tudor / Rolex and they will fix it. You could also let it service through any good watchmaker. If it had a in-house calibre, service would surely be more expensive. The only one who really benefits from in-house is the producer, not the custumer.

I am rather new to watches and I have a question: When people comment about the Tudor being a watch for teenagers, where does that way of thinking come from? The fact that I really like the Sinn 103 better than a Daytona and the Tudor is a reflection of my economic class or, my horology ignorance? I wear what I like. What about this hobby do I have yet to learn?

+Ryan Manak don't buy in NYC. You are more apt to being ripped off than anything else. Not to mention the 10% sales tax. I lived there nearly 9 years. I know what I speak of. For $300 you are better off finding something that you can purchase online and have shipped to you.

Seiko SKX007 or 009. Not expensive. Can take a real beating. No they are not incredibly accurate, but if that is what you want you should buy quartz. I do not know anyone who has been disappointed wit the SKX. Get it on rubber and find an after market bracelet.

This is like saying "I bought a Porsche because I couldn't afford a Ferrari". None of it is true, and oozes ignorance and snobbery. I own both a Black Bay and a Sub...I wear the BB almost everyday because it is more reliable, versatile, and frankly...has a hell of a lot more soul and character. People ask me about my Tudor...nobody cares about the Sub because they're a dime a dozen.
