That voice brings me back to growing up in the 80s and 90s. I am 46 years old. I miss the years before social media.

That’s bc the doc was made in the 90’s, maybe easily 2000’s but prob 90’s. I miss the 90’s. I really enjoyed that decade lol 2000’s were pretty good (aside from 9/11 obviously) but I’m a sucker for 90’s nostalgia haha

Since I was a kid seeing the masts and then Old Ironsides sitting there in the water was always my favorite part of heading into Boston for the day. Pretty sure it’s still my favorite part lol most nostalgic part of any Boston trip anyway

It is an honor to be on the USS Constitution, and it's still used as a training ship in some cases.

@lindaseel9986 It's an honorable career path. A Captain I worked for said that, in the Navy, there was nothing but air and opportunity. I loved it.

And it could probably still take out some of the ships Russia’s working with 😂😂😂 Yes of course I know that’s not true. It’s a joke. 😉

Beautiful ship indeed!.. But I think Walter Kronkite was alive when it originally sailed…

Great video. Not sure about British Grenadiers for a song choice. 🤔

Well, at the time the ship was in use wouldn’t that song have made sense? After all, the sailors of the time _would_ have still been British despite being second, third or more generations of living in America. To my knowledge most living in the colonies considered themselves every bit as British as those living in Britain… the British, however, did not feel the same about the colonists.

@@Andy_Babbno, Constitution wasn't launched until 1797, well after the Revolutionary War. The United States had already been a country for at least a decade. She literally fought the British in the War of 1812, partially because the British were abducting American sailors.

Dearest Cousins, what this old sea dog doesn't mention is that all the guns on USS Constitution are British guns i.e you will see the Royal Arms on each of them, something I noticed and mentioned when I visited this great ship in Sept 2023. I discovered the reason was, it underwent a major refurb in the early 1900's. The guy responsible for getting a load of guns cast for it in Boston made a big mistake as they were cast from old British Royal Naval moulds.....as he'd now spent all the money, these guns were therefore fitted. Sorry, but as a Brit this did give me a bit of a smile. 🇺🇸 🇬🇧😁👍
