Really enjoying the E30 vids! I was thinking to myself as the video went on that the hood and fender were different paint finishes and probably from a different car. Then you said it in the vid ha.
@HunterDirectionАй бұрын
Yeah I am surprised it took me so long to realize why it was being inconsistent haha.
@deanirwin3645Ай бұрын
If you have not yet done so, check the VINs. There should be stampings on each panel, or at the very least, on the fenders

Great job doing this video. Not only the artwork is great but I love to see the roller-coaster of emotions, the trial and error approach, the troubleshooting... like any of us not professionals do or would do. I do relate to this. Keep up the great work.
@HunterDirectionАй бұрын
Hey I really appreciate that. For me the video is more important than the subject so I get to practice the filmmaking process haha.
@anderschristensen8297Ай бұрын
Just another good video!😀 I think the reason why you have issues on some panels are the different quality on the paint 😊 you could sand the panels that gives you problems down with 120 grid and Spray i high build primer on to get a better surface for the wrap to stick too but you will have to sand it down pretty hard 😊 keep up the good work!
@HunterDirectionАй бұрын
Yep! Figure that out this video haha. Those panels will definitely be getting some additional prep soon.

love you vids! looks like by the end of these wrapping episodes i may have to ppf wrap my own e30! good stuff!
@bangarngАй бұрын
Great content as always. While your revelation was what it was, I swear my experience with hoods has always been different compared to the other panels (in general not in wrapping). My guess is because of the constant heat cycling of the engine and director exposure to the sun.
@KK001Ай бұрын
Heres a tip, whenever youre working edges or panels you should leave way more film so that its easier to get the curls out and lines out, and also youre not stretching the vinyl as much which means it should hold better over time.

How is it dailydriving the S6? Does it slowly creep into first position and silently but surely makes you forget about the other cars? I have to say, the moment I got my A6 4.2 back then, I slowly but surely "forgot" about the other cars. It's just the right amount of analog and responsive but comfortable enough and quick. Now it's the V10 Touareg, although I don't even like SUVs that much, but I don't want to drive every little trip with the RS6 or XJ12. Nice cars we had back then... And I sincerely don't understand, although I probably know why, why your videos just don't get the amount of views I wish them to have. Unchanged I wish you the success you strife for.

Awesome video, those types of 💡 moments feel great…( that’s cool that Vvivid referenced the same person✅ )

Makes sense, the paint is failing on the donor panels. Gotta knock them down with 120 to metal and start fresh with etch, then epoxy primer
@HunterDirectionАй бұрын
Yep! I think that's the play for sure. Back to sanding haha. I'll probably wrap the rest of the good panels first before making the garage all dusty again
@jeffkoch8612Ай бұрын
@ Dude, I used to be a body and paint guy, and later a cabinetmaker. The whole job is sanding, the finish is easy lol
@holyschmidt7Ай бұрын
Good stuff. Keep moving forward! I wonder why the mixed panels, hopefully the originals were just a bit rough and dented.
@HunterDirectionАй бұрын
@@holyschmidt7 I actually know that and saw old photos of them when I bought it haha. For a lot of this car's life it's sat under a walnut tree in the back of the previous owner's grandpa's house. The original hood and that fender were super dented and replaced by him. Thankfully it's not from a wreck or on the title haha
@holyschmidt7Ай бұрын
@@HunterDirection Sweet little story, love stuff like that. One of my e30s in the past was mad dented from hail, so I can relate. Looking forward to seeing yours nice and wrapped up- the color is fantastic

It's a really fun process. Time consuming but a lot of that was just my cars terrible paint lol
@ilyastouring3132Ай бұрын
hey Hunter.. if you apply the ppf on a wet surface it'd stick way much better
@HunterDirectionАй бұрын
Haha yeah I tried that the entire last video and the surface of the car wasn't really having it unfortunately. I think it makes sense for the panels with super rough paint but for the majority the dry install was sticking perfectly haha.

@@EthanSmith-ls5bo haha it's more about improving my production ability and the videos themselves than going viral or getting a ton of subs for me. But I really appreciate that! My hope is to be able to direct and make stuff like this full time at some point though

The specks of paint coming off were from paint that had already failed, you need to sand down further to paint that hasn't failed or seal the paint with primer
@HunterDirectionАй бұрын
Yep. That was the discovery in the video haha. The panels from the donor car have much different paint quality haha
