The thing that sets Donut apart from other car youtube channels is the effort they put into EVERYTHING. They didn't have to make a hilarious mini Jurassic park movie for their Omaze ad, they didn't have to script a fake zoom meeting for Nolan to tell us he scrolls through bring-a-trailer when he's at work, and they didn't have to write a whole pretty good sounding song with a music video to show us their new hat; but they did all of it because they know their audience loves this stuff, and that makes them amazing. Never change Donut Media

Just bought a 1995 Jeep Cherokee Country off BAT and could not be happier with the experience. Having enthusiast comment during the auction was a huge help that allowed me to find out things about the car I would not have known to look for. This helped make me feel at ease. It’s the community that makes these auctions work. Tons of pictures is a plus and the videos make it easier to get a feel for condition. Having a seller that responded quickly to user questions was huge as well. As an added bonus we picked the car up and drove it cross country and made a vacation out of it.
@dougrobinson86023 жыл бұрын
I've sold on Bring A Trailer. I have nothing but good things to say about the experience. I'd previously tried to sell the car on Autotrader, and got nothing but lowballers who thought pricing should be something they got from a Blue Book type valuation site. Mine was sensibly, but very modded. No comparison to an average car of it's type, and only 50k on the odo of a 16 year old car of which I was the original owner. The best part is that BaT doesn't fleece the seller. If you have something special, and BaT will only list interesting cars, then I'd recommend it. My tip is to keep a close eye on your listing, and answer all questions quickly and honestly.

I bought a salvage title FR-S from Copart. The buying process was pretty straight forward and the car came looking pretty much like it did in the auction and inspection photos. When I took the rear bumper off to work on it I saw that the rear crash bar was dented pretty bad (probably from the car getting rear ended) so I had to replace it. I bought a VIN report before buying the car and there were no accident records other than the accident that totaled it so they must have kept it off the insurance, but that's something that could happen with any used car. If you buy a used car definitely make sure all the safety stuff is in check.

I just finished the transaction to sell my car through Cars & Bids today! It sold on the site a couple weeks ago, and the buyer came by today to pick it up and finish the deal. The listing process through C&B was tremendously thorough, and the car was sold for a bit more than I was hoping for. The buyer was very communicative the whole time through. I also felt that if anything went awry, then C&B would be able to assist in the most appropriate way. Their vetting process for selling makes me confident as a buyer, and I feel that the professionalism of the auction site brings more legitimate, serious buyers, as well. I am sold for the car auction site world, and I will be using C&B to buy and sell cars in the future!

Having purchased via Bring A Trailer, it was a solid experience and the most straight forward car purchase ever. I won the auction, we were instantly put in contact via BaT, met up, I gave him cash, done deal. EDIT: It is a project car but perfectly drivable and made the 4 hour drive home. Shout out to the VW community as a newcomer. Apparently just driving an old VW gives you a pass to the Cool Club.

Recently won a high end car on Bring A Trailer through an private dealer in Charston S. Carolina. The seller unlike playing nice on all of his demo youtube video was/is a complete AH. Zero customer service, never wanted to address things via phone call but only via delayed emails. Full of stories all the time worst always gave undeliverable promises. BAT is no longer vetting its sellers with high standard anymore. All they care is their 5% commission and leave chaos to the market place. Buyers be ware! I will necer use BaT ever again!

What I find ironic about speculation is that the same people who think it kills the car hobby and that prices are too high and the same reselling their civics for a gt86 for more money that they paid for them. Its the combonation of speculation and passion what keeps old beaten m3 running like new, some buy them and take care to enjoy them and others buy them and pay a professional to repair it and store it for a profit, it is never bad because the ultimate buyer is the one who truly wants it and was willing to pay the full price. Id love to but the cap and have it constantly wispering the song in my ears
@ModMINI2 жыл бұрын
When buying an older car, you are buying the seller as much as the car. If the seller goes quiet or non-responsive or evasive on BaT, the bids dry up really fast, even if it appears to be a decent car. People are willing to bid more on BaT or C&B because they can be sure they are getting a seller that cares more than something found on Craigslist.

I bought a 1984 Subaru gl wagon at an in-person auction a few months ago, bought it as a “locked car with no keys” but the hatch was unlocked and nobody else realized it. It also had 6 big old rusty pistons in a milk crate in the back (I guess nobody realized it was a 4 cylinder and the pistons weren’t that big). Won the car for $250, towed it home, found the key in the ashtray, and got it to start on starter fluid. The car hasn’t been registered since 2007 but somehow still cranked up. Just bought a fuel pump and I’m cleaning the carb soon, after that we can see if she runs on her own. If it will then I’m getting new tires since the old ones are literally ripping apart from being so old. One of the best parts is that I have paperwork from the auction to get a new title, so if everything goes right then I’ll have a running and driving 1984 Subaru wagon with a clean title for only $250 plus the cost of new tires, the fuel pump, and title costs. On a side note the car also had an original ww2 willys jeep radiator, an extension cord, and some light fixtures in the back so selling those might help recoup a little money. Overall I’d say I got super lucky and I’m very appreciative.

In the UK it's quite common to buy cars on eBay and there are other sites that are essentially searchable classified ads. AFAIK, this style of auction site hasn't caught on and I think the reason is because of the size of the country; over here everything is so close together that you might as well travel to see any car you're interested in whereas in the US, that could easily take a couple of days so people are more likely to buy cars unseen (something that is much easier when the listings are standardised).
