The full size Adamas was my first Benchmade. I’d been balking at the price of their knives for a long while. I was looking at a Zero Tolerance and it did not feel good in my hand at all. Could barely get it opened. The Adamas was on display but was unmarked. I asked to see it. Loved it and finally decided to jump into the Benchmade world. That was about 3 months ago. I now own 5 Benchmades. Some may say I have a problem but I don’t think so. I absolutely LOVE the Adamas. No doubt my favorite carry knife followed closely by my Turret. Thank you for an honest, genuine review. I always get a good vibe off your videos. The authenticity is very refreshing. Hope you all enjoyed my hometown, Lake Havasu!! I got my Adamas (D2) a few years ago after trial and error with folding knives for outdoor use. The 275 Adamas (and the Manix 2 G10 for a slicy alternative) are now my go to's. My family spends a fair amount of time at a family member's seasonal trailer site. While i still bring a belt knife and larger tools, the Adamas is a very capable, low profile folding camp knife. Works very well for the glamping environment I find myself in. Holds up to more than that of course. A little thick behind the edge, but very confidence inspiring.

Great Review. I am a Benchmade Fan boy and a retired federal LEO of over 45 years of service. To go against a company because it helped a local law enforcement agency do something the law enforcement agency was required to do by law is absolute B.S. Benchmade is NOT anti-gun. They are just a company, who at their own expense, helped their local community do something they couldn't do for themselves. If people want to be upset for the destruction of guns, then be upset with the local or state law makers that created a law REQUIRING the destruction, not a local company that was just being a responsible community member.

@@jeffreybloom5017 About three years ago the Oregon City PD (where BM is based) asked Benchmade to help them dispose of some seized firearms (which can never be resold). Benchmade, in their infinite wisdom, posted about it on Facebook, probably to show how they support local law enforcement. It went at least as bad as you'd expect. People were calling BM anti-gun, calling for boycotts and throwing away their entire BM collections (which also forced a bunch of YT knife reviewers to boycott BM, lest they lose viewers). It all got a bit ridiculous to me-those guns needed to be destroyed anyway, and just because the police asked BM to do it that doesn't automatically makes them anti-gun.

I like the Hogue's a lot! I especially like the design of that Elishewitz EX-01 design with aluminum scales. The only big negative about it is that the steel liners are only half the handle length I noticed. I prefer full handle length and width steel liners on a folder if possible like the Adamas and Gerber 06. But then again I don't use a folder like I would a fixed blade. I did score a Benchmade full size Ritter Griptilian in M390 almost ten years ago for only $60! And Doug Ritter took this same design to Hogue with the RSK model.

I’ve had the full size coyote tan/ black in d2 since they first released them in 2012. It has served me very well. It has excelled over any folder I’ve ever had tactically and woods wise. Other than being heavy I don’t have anything against it, but I will take durability over lightweight. I am in the woods and on the water year round. I have skinned many many hogs, deer, and used to cut lots of wood without any issues. Don’t underestimate the ability of that point to penetrate. The swedge ground tip and profile of it was designed to penetrate without damaging the point like most clip points will by rolling the point backwards or chipping.

I was in one of my local gun & knife shops, specifically to check out the ZT 308(which I still want), they had the full size Adamas on display so I went ahead and put it in my hand, and 10 minutes later, I was leaving with it! It just did it for me! Everything about it, including that awesome Cruwear blade, with their new concrete looking coating, which holds up tremendously btw! Great looking knife, no doubt. I put a 18 degree bevel on it and then it performed to my liking. It’s my first time with Cruwear, and man, good stuff. If I had to list any cons, however, I wish they would have used T8 or T10 screws, all the way around, or at least for the stop pin. Heavy duty, overbuilt beast, but with the smallest screws for the entire chassis! That shouldn’t have happened. Otherwise, love it! Side note: the split arrow pocket clip, improves the ergos quite a bit, imo. 🤙🏼

What do you use to sharpen it?

Worksharp field or guided sharpener

Beefy knife is only as good as the lockup. I carry one of benchmades hunt series folders and after a season or two of use (including batoning) I started to get a lot of play in the blade. Benchmade took care of it under lifesharp. Ended up buying a good fixed blade for fire preparation and still carry my benchmade for everything else.

Had an Adamas from the first production run. It was a sweet knife for sure. Too big for EDC. I finally decided that for most anything I'd use it for, a fixed blade would be better.

I have both the older d2 and the newer crowbar, I love them both. Most knives are to small for my hands and these knives fit great, and are a very sturdy folder

After owning for 2 years do you still recommend this knife. I’ve been on the fence about it. It’s tough to carry a fix blade at work but I’m constantly having to cut heavy duty zip ties and I’m worried about breaking the blade on my Spyderco pm2 or my 940

Totally I still use it carry regularly. Never failed on me once.

Well this is why we flick through the comments first. Just asked my exact question @sturgis97 handy to know it still makes it in the rotation and hasn't failed you. Might be time to add an Adamas, tough decision vs. A spyderco shaman
@sturgis9710 ай бұрын
@@stevedouglas2953 I decided to go ahead and get one. I purchased mine through EKnives’s shipping was fast, and I’ve had no problems to speak of but of course I’m not going to try to baton a folder through wood if I do, I will simply disengage the lock. I have tapped the spine several times on the kitchen counter just to see if it would disengage , under what I would feel like, would be about the same amount of pressure as an accidental hit to the top of the Knife under working conditions. The lock stayed in place. Maybe it’s just a select few that I’ve had this happen. Obviously it’s not a a problem with every Adamas, if so, bench made would be getting flooded with thousands of returns. I don’t doubt that there have been a lot of people having issues, but how many truly have had that problem . Anything mechanical can, and will fail at some point. The adamas is supposed to be a tough working knife under normal working conditions, in which other knives would fail and possibly go beyond that. Having said all this, I think for most normal use is gonna hold up very well and be able to take on some tougher cutting task, while being very durable. If you’re going to go in the backcountry on a hike I suggest always carrying more than one knife . I usually carry at least three on me at all times I have a Victor Knox Swiss Army, a regular sized folder and fixed blade unless I’m at work, but I still have at least two on me even at work and the fixed blade is always in the truck. if I had to go on a hike, these are all definitely gonna be with me.

I have some folder,says Benchmade on the side,massive handle and blade,liner lock, two types of blades one regular drop point,one tanto style. Bought both on a flea market 7 euro each. Didnt expect much,due to the price,just wanted to see the innards :-) Had to put some loctite in the screws because it got rattly rather quick but all in all I really like it, a serious blade in a folder size.

First real knife was a full size Adamas, I actually sold it to “help fund” lol my Shaman purchase. I’m hands down a bench made guy but man the Shaman was worth it!

I have thought about getting a shaman. I’ve Heard mixed things about the design and something about how it closes or an exposed blade or something like that?
@stevenloy66573 жыл бұрын
@@gideonstactical Ok I believe I may know what you’ve heard of. One of two things, it is a compression lock so if your depressing the lock and the blade closes completely then the finger choil “guard” will hit your index so you can’t really flip it open and closed all Willy nilly while depressing the lock. Real quick learning curve, and I guess after years of sharpening or improper sharpening could also result in an exposed tip when closed. But anyway I loved them both and when it comes to ergos man the shaman takes the cake, plus you still get that big boy knife vibe with the big broad full flat grind so them kitchen tasks get a tad easier! Maybe just don’t baton with it! Hey keep up the good work and god bless you and your family! Safe travels!!!

How’s it compare in size and weight for carrying to the big beefy Spyderco Shaman? I have a Shaman and it’s about as big and heavy as I’d want to EDC.

The Adamas is a gorgeous knife. But the recon 1 is s35vn, and has great edge retention. Plus the s35vn is a stainless stainless steel. Plus, the recon 1 has a superior locking mechanism. And the recon 1 is around $125. There's no way I can buy the adamas without feeling like I've been ripped off.

Always liked the Adamas but never pulled the trigger. I too used to be a big Benchmade fan but not anymore. So I only own a couple of full size 551 Griptilian's (standard Mel Pardue and M390 Ritter) that I put Applied Weapons Tech aluminum scales on. How much better is the Cruwear than there older D2 offering? I've seen many Cruwear steel reviews but is D2 a serious downgrade nowadays? As far as pocket knives, I keep going back to the beefy Gerber 06 and/or 3 dot Buck 110. But I've also started carrying smaller fixed blades more like the Ontario TAK1, Buck Nighthawk 655 or Kabar TDI Hinderer Hell Fire which all fit in a pocket easily. One more question, what watch are you wearing?
