Excellent video. I’m a retired lawyer from San Francisco 7 years in Bangkok. Nice to see a vlog about those of us who have retired that actually planned for a good retirement here in Thailand. There are challenges to be sure number one on the list enroll in Thai language school if you don’t already have that knowledge. Don’t fall in love too fast.. well maybe that’s number one😂😂

Nice interview! I'm sure the comments will come about the rent that he's paying. There's always a few people who will complain about how someone else spends their money...lol...the bottom line is that Bangkok has soooo many options to rent. I think that $2k for the location and size of his apartment is reasonable. Not everyone who comes to Thailand from the western world is struggling or on a tight budget.

Great interview, Adam! This guy successfully transitioned from his life in the US, with what surely was a difficult divorce and his decision to retire in Thailand, and he put it all very well in action. He's living the life I plan to have in just a few years, though I still don't really know if I'd prefer to settle in Bangkok or in places like Koh Samui or Hua Hin. In any case, he is a real source of inspiration!

I think for first time long term renters, a good agent is a good idea. You tell them your wants and desires and they narrow down an endless list of options for you. They make sure you do not get bamboozled. Once you get that first one out of the way, you know the areas, you know the ins and outs, then doing a search on your own makes more sense.

Somebody already mentioned the name so I won't, but based on the view at 17:00 it's at the end of Soi 8. Interesting thing is there's no direct access from Soi 8 to the park (at least last time I went down to the end). You can cut through a church parking area to soi 10 if the gates aren't locked, which happened to me one time. If it were me, I'd rather be two minutes from the BTS or MRT and walk 10 minutes to the park but that's just me. That's an awesome view for sure.

He chose Bangkok Thailand Because its ,,pm 2.5 . pollution is among the highest in the world According to the Thailand health minister..living in Bangkok. Will shorten you life by 8 year
@neoitd25883 ай бұрын
Mostly, the PM 2.5 dust problem occurs during the winter-summer months for only a few months. As of now, according to the IQAir app, the air quality in Bangkok is at 38, marked as green. Nowadays, air purifiers have become essential for residences. If you're not working outdoors or staying outside all day and night, the PM 2.5 issue isn't something to be too worried about. From your post stating that life expectancy could shorten by 8 years, under the conditions I mentioned, it would likely be much less than that. I’m speaking optimistically here, even though losing even 1 year of life expectancy shouldn't happen.
@nicktw86883 ай бұрын
I'm an expat and have lived in several megacities with horrible PMi...I'm younger....and healthy, but the reality is, living in a city like Bangkok and breathing the air is like smoking an entire pack of cigarettes every day. PMI 2.5 comes mostly from vehicles, burning garbage and agricultural waste. Nasty gases like sulphur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide, carbon dioxide....even lead. Yes. It's that bad. One's body can get used to it....but the damage is still done. Long term, causes organ damage, heart disease, cancers ect.... And don't believe air purifiers actually do anything...for one, they cannot filter out gasses. Now i live in a coastal area with fresh, pristine clean air. I love cities, but I love clean air more.

You are affected by the pollution even if u don't know it. The pm2 particles enter your lungs permanently. After awhile you can develop respiratory issues and later on it gets into your organs and disease occurs. 40% of the produce there exceeds Who guidelines for maximum pesticide limits. Even if you go organic there is no domestic authority to check it. If you eat out a lot you are consuming highly processed seed ,vegetable oils which also cause diseases. It is hot as hell in BKK many days as well as flooded streets. The traffic is insane and I wouldnt be caught driving a motorbike. I love the positives as a single man but the negatives outweigh them. I am thinking of moving to Jomptien,cooking myself, and getting a high quality air purifier. I'll use bolt and baht bus. Not as crowded,lots of expats,and nightlife. Not as polluted and by the beach. Max rent will be 1000. I'll budget max $3000 to $4000 but wont spend it all. I'm lazy so won't travel that much. Just give me beautiful women and weed and I'm all set.
@nunuvyurbiz1234 ай бұрын
If you're concerned about pm2 particles, why do you smoke weed? That can't be good for your lungs either.
