I love me some gold! Been buying gold for years now as a long term hedge, mostly gold sovereigns, gold bars and 1oz coins, but I also love gold jewellery, big heavy rope chains, diamond cut for extra bling! Brinks Mat story is fascinating, and while watching the video, as I fondled my necklace, I wondered if you would mention most gold jewellery now contains some gold from the robbery, which you eventually did, nice! But gold, wow, it is mesmerising, so beautiful, I never tire of looking at it or hearing that lovely ringing sound as gold coins slide over each other in ones hand, so hypnotic and gorgeous ❤

@@mattm5941 Not just any mental, its a precious metal, so the value ofthe price of gold never really dips, it just gains more value over time, unlike money, which is worth absolutely fuck all any more... where gold just increases in value year on year, just in the last 24 hours gold has risen by 1.5%, in just 24 hours???? So no matter how much money you have in your bank account, its value will always decrease, not so with gold, so no, I will not "relax" my position on gold, in fact I think ill ramp up my gold purchases while I can still afford it 😆

@@AlexandraStarr1974 Actually the value of gold has been a worse investment to invest in than stock or real estate by any possible metric. The fact you need to make a sizeable investment in a proper safe and security system and the fact it’s actually quite complicated to sell it off (the buyer will want to control the quality first), makes it a difficult ‘difficult’ to invest in this commodity.

Reminds me of a classic TWILIGHT ZONE episode where some thieves stole a truckload of Gold Bars. One was a scientist who perfected hibernation chambers so they went to sleep to make up in 100 years or so and spend their gold - figuring everyone would have frogtten about the robbery.. ......................... Then when they woke up fought over the gold and the last guy - dehydrated walked along road into town with some gold bars. Future people stopped by and he offered them a gold bar for a ride and some water.. then died... they looked at the gold and one of them noted at one time GOLD was worth alot --- before they learned to manufacture it cheaply.

Forgive me but I can’t be the only one who actually gets pleasure out of a heist successfully played. I don’t at all condone any murder, and aside from the actual criminals getting killed that old adage “those who live by the sword die by the sword” applied here. And that’s an entirely different story. But when a company that specializes in keeping such large amounts of valuables safe, and is insured against theft and loss, gets taken so simply, I cannot help but laugh. There was a huge Brinks robbery done a few decades back in the US, I don’t recall the specifics, but I’m pretty sure there was an inside woman, and it was about 3X this amount and all cash. Happens all the time!

Reminds me of a squirrel holding a nut in a cage, stuck, because the squirrel’s hand won’t fit back out of the hole. Another metaphor could be a free diver finding gold treasure on the sea floor, just before a storm is approaching. On a breath hold, dives down, fills their pockets & wetsuit with gold coins, then is too heavy to reach the surface for air. Yet, they greedily refuse to drop the gold for fear of never finding it again, inevitably drowning rich.
