Sometimes people want you to teamfight when you want is to split push, it's every top laner issue. The build is optimized for one shotting squishies and if you do that to a tank, it will just laugh at you and that is a champ select issue not the build itself. If your team support is an enchanter and your team needs a tank, AD Garen is also not a good choice. This is now a decision problem, you should not play AD Garen every single match, check champion picks first before locking in and let your team in champ select know that you are building Full on AD Garen. The support who wanted to lock in yuumi might hesitate to do so if they know there would be no tank.

Oh man this takes me back, when I first started playing back in 2011 I played nothing but Garen and rushed boots of swiftness into infinity edge and sword of the occult every game, and would just wait in bushes in side lanes to one-shot squishies. Tried and true Garen gameplay.

Personally I think this build's biggest strength is how strong it is when behind. A normal garen will do almost no damage when behind, and if you can't kill in one rotation of abilities as garen, you're going lose almost any 1v1 midgame. This is where crit garen shines, even when behind, you have such a ridiculous amount of damage that you can still do your job just fine. With just galeforce, you can hide in a bush and oneshot the majority of champions in the game, even if they have twice your gold.

Phase rush Garen is generally a good pick into anything that You don't outright beat. Early on, E-AA-Q is great disengage. As soon as You get bamis or ironspije whip, You can proc phase rush just with QE. Combined with Your passive You are near unmovable and can scale into a very annoying skirmisher/splitpusher. You will kill squishies if ignored, but escape easily if focused. Hell to play against.

@@Sylvine I think aa-q-e, when possible, would be better cause they'll take damage if they manage to keep chasing while you fall back. If trynd spin onto you as you Q, while you're still e-ing, it will proc the shred and make any aa do more damage; force the ult sooner from him.

@@dddmemaybe That's just wrong. When You take phase rush into losing matchup, You want to disengage, look to limit the damage You take, not maximize the damage they take. Ending the disengage with Q gives You silence+slow removal + speed from Q and Phase rush, making them unable to chase You. Not taking an extra autoattack/ability > dealing an extra tick or 2 of E. Besides, You go 3Q into E or even Q max with phase rush setup, so upfront armor shred into Q is better damage anyways. You dont really AA much while disengaging with PR proc anyways, it defeats the purpose - remember, losing matchups, You want to take as few and short trades as possible.

I've been playing galeforce garen down in gold ever since stridebreaker lost its dash. seemed like a natural item on garen since he scales with everything it give. That being said it's usually bruiser next not full crit. Good to see there's room for more damage in the build. I'll still be going hullbreaker second until it's nerfed

It's funny how Garen became from Juggernau to bruiser to full ad call it as you like - role. Like people got mad when I played bruiser or AD back thn. I definitely saw a copycat of this guy last night running a jungle Garen setup. They asked my team’s opinion of the play of him using that all, and I answered honestly. He was super inconsistent with what he was doing, especially since (I was playing top lane), he solely relied on waiting in top jungle since that’s where his friend was (a Darius he duo queued with). Assassin Garen definitely seems solid though!

It's not a "new" idea to use dash items on Garden. The old dash stride breaker last season made Garen actually viable. Some people were playing around with Gale after that item got reworked but I think most just dropped the champ at that point.

Before they reworked Garen’s E to scale with attack speed, I loved going full damage Garen, opting for IE or Duskblade first, and then getting ravenous hydra second because of the ridiculous AD scaling on his Q. It was fun pressing Q on targets and dealing 1K damage with just 2 items. These days I don’t play Garen much. btw i didn’t play ranked back then. i just played him in low elo norms

One correction- Garen's R IS flashable. If you flash before the animation of him thrusting his sword to the ground finishes, the ult won't cast. I had this happen to me when playing ARAM or URF a lot. But once Garen kneels, you can't dodge by flashing anymore.

I used this kind of build since december playing jungle garen (I'm Lee Sin jungle main) with predator rune to improve my ganks, alongside gale force (or even ghost, if you're confident) and your Q, it's overpowered in low elo just like he says. A gank is a kill. Your E have an excellent jungle clear, your Q does tons of damage, helps you move beetween camps and resets AAs to gain more tempo, your W can block some big monster or multiple monsters damage while stacking armor + some runes (if you build alacrity f.e.), your passive heals you all the time except vs big monsters. I allways start with berserker greavers, then gale and at this point if you're ahead: essence reaver, if you're not or the game is quite even: dead man's plate. The rest of the build you can decide if going full crit, off tank or even lethality items. If you're having problems reaching an enemy, gale force active and Q+E him. If you're not, just approach him like you'd normaly do and when your silence goes away and he tries to scape using some dash, galeforce him. it does extra damage the lower the HP and smash him with your R (or viceversa). It's quite fun, super simple and effective in bronze-gold elo.

Going to be honest normally when I see Assassin Garen he usually doesn't even need to camp bushes he literally goes berserk and its a nightmare to even contest him at all though Malzahar and Veigar CAN do this if I'm not playing a CC champion he literally blows up everything... I've been saying this ever since the item rework. He scales with all the bonuses from Galeforce and the fact that it has a long dash and execute is perfect for him. Just that people really liked the mini dash and slow from Stridebreaker. Once Stridebreaker lost it's dash Garen players should have moved on to Galeforce but they still kept building Stridebreaker. The slow means nothing when Garen's engaged is him running a little faster for a couple seconds. Any bit of CC just gimps his movement speed. I really do like building Galeforce->Berserker's Greaves->Mortal Reminder-> Infinity Edge->Dead Man's Plate->Force of Nature. The build still one shots squishies and you get the bonus of having resistances plus mobility.

The thing is, Garen really likes Stridebreaker still because it slows by 40% for 3 seconds, that active basically ensures you're sticking to your target with absolutely no counterplay. Sure it comes with the weakness that you can't engage on people other than by running at them or surprising them, but it's not like it's impossible, heck people have dealt with it for 12 years.

@@markopusic8258 Problem is after the original Juggernaut rework Garen could get away with just running at people cause having 5k-5.5k+ health in most games gave him the damage of bruisers with the health pool of tanks. In most games nowadays after full build he's around 3k-4k health. He's more of a bruiser now than a juggernaut without getting the extra mobility of most bruisers. Bruisers also usually have dashes or AoE CCs that help them team fight that Garen just doesn't have and yes the 3 second slow on Stridebreaker is great on 1v1s. I really like Galeforce because if the enemy ADC doesn't have flash just going within their auto range is enough for Garen to Galeforce dash and blow them up

I play the prowlers claw full lethality build with predator boots and it does pretty damn well. People melt just as fast as they did in this video, but I guess I'm only silver so I'm playing against much worse people. Will definitely have to try out this build. I climbed from silver to gold just by playing homing missile Garen jungle. Then i stopped rankeds. But: - Predator runes - Cheapshot - whatever - Out of combat MS ------------------------------------ - All MS runes from sorcery tree ----------------------------------- - Swift boots - Triforce/Duskblade - Deadman's plate - Stormrazor - Mortal reminder/Yomuu's ghostblade if running lethality or vs 0-to-low healing team - Phantom dancer/The Collector if running lethality Easily 750+ MS with all buffs on + Q, most squishies die almost with Q alone. Also slow from deadman's + stormrazor (and Duskblade if you pick it). Great mobility around map, you can splitpush too. If you are really ahead and the match goes on for too long (low elo issues), you can slowly change items to transition into an offtank build.

I've played against this cancerous build before (in low ELO, because I'm terrible). It's the epitome of "You know EXACTLY what they are doing, but you can't do anything about it." If the Garen doesn't get massively behind, you literally cannot walk into unwarded areas unless you KNOW where he is on the map. Because of the insane true damage on the Ultimate, even tanks aren't safe. Another advantage of this build is that it is just amazing against assassins. Getting silenced just ruins everything, and Garen can make an opposing assassin completely irrelevant by just... waiting near his carries.

This also works in the jungle but is a bit Weaker because... Camps do not give instand 300 gold and you can't proc youre runes on the jungle Camps so you dont have the damage early before your third item
