Not sure why this video showed up in my feed, but i’m glad it did. I’m in a similar situation where i’m experiencing some neurological issues (albeit not as severe) secondary to psychiatric ones that arose from trauma. I think the person who said “you’re dealing with a mental health issue, not a physical one” meant well but oversimplified your situation, so I just wanted to share some additional thoughts. For context, I work in neurology research and have struggled with depression and anxiety for over seven years. You are definitely experiencing a physical illness. Syncope is an alarming physical symptom (as are the others), and I’m sorry that’s happening to you. Your concern is totally valid. I can relate to the struggles you’re having with your memory and cognition. I don’t think it’s fatalistic to express your concern or to make the (admirable) effort to preserve what you can for the people you care about. I do hope that you continue to be persistent in trying to make things better for you now though. It’s going to take a lot of effort to get through this, but I don’t doubt that you’ll come out on top. You have the motivation (your family) and the drive (you wouldn’t have made it this far without that). And I think you have more control over the situation than your symptoms make it seem. Our mind and body are more connected than we know. Research is starting to explain that connection, but there’s still so much we don’t understand about the brain. I don’t think you’ll heal your body just by ensuring your mental wellbeing, or vice versa, but I hope it’s empowering to think of them as working together to create an overall sense of wellbeing. Thank you for sharing this video. It’s not easy to be open about our struggles, but I appreciated hearing some of your story.

@@bellah2939 I really appreciate you being willing to share some of your struggles with me. It's hard but we can all make it through hard things. It is really nice to receive validation from a neutral external party and I really appreciate your words of encouragement. Hopefully in the coming weeks and months I can share more information as I learn more about my health. I will continue to share my struggles and hopefully inspire others who are struggling to keep up the fight.

Don’t be fatalistic, this is a mental health issue, not a physical one, you have an anxiety problem, not dementia (we all had grandparents who had something) . Get a good psychiatrist and therapist, get on psych meds if you have to. If you have to get a pace maker, get it. Keep working on it and you might well get better. Also, the brain can rewire itself, so I wouldn’t write off you returning to puzzles . Just an outsiders point of view, thank you for your service!

@@frankjamesbonarrigo7162 I definitely want to share my fear and anxiety about those things but I have a team of doctors trying to help me and I just have to trust in them and trust in the process. The mental health issues are definitely contributing to the physical issues. It's a little bit of both. From what I understand. Mental health wise there's anxiety which puts tension and strain on the nervous system and when it becomes too much my brain tells my autonomic nervous system to turn off. I am still waiting for additional testing and there is ongoing medical care so we will see what happens in the next few months. I have more cardiology appointments in the next few months that will hopefully give me more information. I really appreciate your support and I appreciate your opinion. I'm always open to new points of view and I love seeing other perspectives.
