Why This is My Favorite Video Game Generation

I grew up with all 4 and I can say this was the era of early multiplayer online on consoles and you literally had each company putting out 5 to 10 games that were ALL bangers or unique. I think this generation is the best cause its right when devs atarted getting movie money but video games were still niche enough that the main stream hadnt killed them yet. My personal fave was the Xbox that thing had so many crazy weird unique games

ps2 was a legend, so many original games with variety and so many exclusives. i really love playing God Hand, Urban Reign, Mortal Kombat Shaolin Monks and more

Solid review, man! I’d say PS2 easily takes the cake for me from this lineup👌I think this generation represents that last pure era of gaming before consoles started being able to do things like surf the internet and stream Netflix. True, graphics and game mechanics have improved astronomically since then, but I think this generation peaked in terms pure gaming enjoyment. There were no wait times for downloads and installs, just a corded controller, a memory card, and some absolutely legendary lineups of games

What a fun and mature comment section😅 As for me, im glad to have owned the original Xbox because it introduced me to KOTOR 1 and 2 which I now play on PC and Star Wars Obi Wan which I also play on PC through Xbox emulation. But yea this generation rocked. PS2 was my favorite. I didnt own Gamecube but i borrowe my brother's to play MGS The Twin Snakes .

This was the golden era of games. The peak. After this era came the dlc microtransactions crap. They also tried at one point to limit game disc to one home. Where games came with online pass codes... remember that shit with the ps3, yall?

Dreamcast was just getting a lot of quality more polished games in 2001 could only imagine how great the games would have looked in 03-07, Shenmue and Jet Set Radio should have got a lot of sequels also would have gotten Ecco 2

og xbox was a beast back then, it's 2.5 times stronger than ps2. xbox was first console to offer 480p with 60fps and 720p with 30fps, it basically was an early performance/quality mode

My favorite of the four would have to be the dreamcast. I wish it would have had a longer run I think we would have even more great games but all these consoles are fantastic!

Their no longer my favorite consoles maybe back in the days when they were the newest consoles and were getting new releases but these consoles are dead now if you forgot to buy a certain game they could cost a lot of money on ebay which isn’t worth spending money on just look at the newest consoles out now they give achievements they have 4K you can play online better performance graphics power except for Nintendo I don’t see a future for Nintendo consoles being as great as PlayStation and Xbox but I do see a future for Sega if they were still here

Have you ever heard of OpenPS2Loader? FreeMCBoot? Also, the PlayStation 2 has more than 4000 games launched on its library, so even no longer supported, there are still a ton of undiscovered games.

Why do you put the dream cast in the same generation of gaming as the xbox and the game cube? It was not. It was never on sale at the same time as these. It was a generation before and just way more advanced. It went to bad against N64 and playstation one It didn't go, it didn't go to bat against the. freaking playstation 2 and Gamecube. And they have made more sense to come out in that generation. They just do at least two generations or two systems in the same generation, and that's even pushing it was Sega Saturn in that generation. Or was it in the one before? In my mind, it's always in the one before as well.

The Dreamcast is a 6th gen console because its technology. Every generation has its first console, and that's the case of the 6th generation and the Dreamcast. If you see the Dreamcast as a 5th gen console just because it was launched ~2 years earlier than the PlayStation 2, I guess you see the Xbox 360 as a 6th gen console because it was launched 1 year earlier than the PlayStation 3.

The Sega Saturn is of the same generation as N64 and PS1, so Dreamcast was the first to the market for the following generation.

Nah dude, Dreamcast is absolutely in the same gen as PS2 and GameCube because of it’s capabilities, it just happened to be the first one of that wave. An easy way to prove this is to look at Sonic Adventure on Dreamcast, then the DX version on GameCube. Same gen, one was just more beefed up

I grew up more in the Xbox 360 era, I play games from all generations not just old stuff.
