Fucking A!!! I think this was his finest moment of the series only next to his final call to Skyler where he absolves her of any involvement to the evesdropping police. What a goddamn actor. The intensity of this scene, the pulsating music, the sheer weight of the moment for Walter, the shift in his mental state from frenetic and looking for his money, the desperation to escape, to confusion, and finally disbelief into a state of complete mental breakdown and maniacal laughter. Acceptance of his fate, at the ludicrous thought of being brought down by freakin' Ted was too much for him to process. Anna Gunn was tremendous as well.

It's never a cliche to praise a great piece of work - the feeling of being astounded can never be a cliche as that feeling of "wow" is rare in most creative works. The reason I first hooked onto Breaking Bad was because I saw some repetitive social media talking about an important reveal (probably Gus Fring's exit). And when I finally decided to check the show out, I couldn't believe I'd been missing out on some of the BEST television I'd ever seen. The biggest irony was I instantly became addicted to the series, just like people became addicted to to the high quality blue meth Walter and Jesse cooked.

This scene actually did a better job at kicking in my fight or flight instincts and making me uneasy than many horror movies I’ve watched. I remember feeling so disturbed and uneasy watching it that when the episode ended, I had to put on KZbin to distract myself from what I was feeling. Commenters will be all over it I'm sure. I for one don't really care because of how more the rest of it all comes through as polished with your essay takes and the added footage. Seems like you actually paid attention in film class. ;) Cheers! PS: I may have missed the joke originally about teLLephone being a play off of lanceLLoti, so... there you go, works either way. ;)

For a video of THIS quality it deserves 100x times the attention. but this is phenomenal i love how you approach these scenes in a much more deeper way than most compared to the generic "crawlspace tomb"

This is a fantastic analysis, one of my new favorites actually. Great job! One thing I felt like pointing out (hadn't seen it mentioned before but may have missed it) is that Rian Johnson didn't direct this episode, Scott Winant did.

Keen to watch this, I felt physically ill the first time I watched this scene and it was on my mind for weeks afterwards. Everytime I re-watch the entire show it takes me a few months to have the unsettling sadness about the giant waste of it all leave me. The writing, directing, acting, editing etc are just so real and human and brilliant that even knowing its just a show I can't shake the raw emotions it brings.
