He's literally always afraid of completely destroying a city or accidentally hurting civilians. I understand that Angstrom went after Mark because Mark ruined his life and appearance. The anger and fear of all his other versions went into him. Angstrom became a vessel for all those versions. He probably thinks that this version of Mark would be the easiest to kill. Angstrom may be confused about his anger, but everything that happened was his own fault. He was the one who chose to work with villains to create his Machine. He had already become someone that the other versions wouldn't do. I wish there was a way to save Angstrom. Unfortunately, unless he realizes that he is the cause instead of Mark, he could never find peace.

The one excuse we can give for him have such a strong hate for our mark is because he watched every other version of invincible destroy his world and now has the collective trauma of countless men clouding his judgment. By that logic he should want every invincible dead as much as he wants our mark dead but he still chooses to work with them and specifically ruin our marks life for seemingly no specific reason. We know he can just send them to a barren universe so he has no reason to do any of this just send them all away to a universe where they can't do anything and let them slowly die off and he wins. The invincible wars is just a way to force mark to get character development and to cause a chrisis.

As someone who has been through some stuff I often wonder about alternate universes where I would have had it better. If people had been different to me. I hate to admit I'm jealous of those versions of me. Based on that I think I can get an idea of how Angstrom decided on the "one" good mark (there are others because of infinite universes but he chose this one for a reason) 1. This is the mark that ruined his plan to save mankind. Even if it was an accident. 2. Having all those thoughts in his head, he was overwhelmed with negativity. Negativity in an intelligent mind can be extremely dangerous. He probably came to a conclusion somewhere along the lines of "This is the one that ruined everything so I have to prove he's evil like the others deep down. If I don't, I'm the bad guy. I can't be the bad guy." He just didn't want to be the bad guy. He never really was doing it to better mankind, he was doing it for the glory.

Haven’t watched all of the season or read the comics but personally I think levy showed these traits BEFORE he was mutated. He had the ability to transport people between dimensions yet only ever saved his variants. He saw himself as being the best even though some of his variants had no real use, and he even went so far as to use the mauler twins, people he knew were villains, because it suit himself. And after he’s mutated it seems like he’s most angry because he’s basically been turned into a freak. Still showing that he is only worried about himself. He knew the risks and yet when he pulls the helmet off it isn’t his fault. Nope it’s someone else’s.
