Great video. The first I've seen of yours :). I've got the 2264 quartz. A few questions. Here is the first. How much was the service? Seems like they replaced a few things. I'm guessing they took you to the cleaners!! $1100 NZD? (If you don't mind me asking).

@TheRandomWatchDude worth every penny! Can I ask what you think about the quartz version? The 2264. You think it's respectable? I bought it pretty much in new condition around 4 years ago for $2k. So I didn't know too much about watches at that time. But I think it's the same as your one just a little thinner and obviously a different movement. Also one different word on the dial but other than that it's the same.

No one's gonna complain about another 2254.50 video, legendary watch! it could have been an exit for me, came very close, I've had two of them. No wait, three actually. And a lot of Bond's, and a few titanium ones. Turned out to be an electric blue titanium 2232.80 on a titanium Bond bracelet as the one I "could" sell everything else for. Happy you found your personal exit watch, and super happy I found mine. I sure paid my dues finding it!

You raise a very poignant aspect, which is the cost of discovering what your GADA watch is. There's no question that this is an expensive journey, but one thing for sure is that none of these neo-vintage Bond watches are a bad choice!

I’ve noticed some of the 2254.50‘s have cracked lume or missing edges especially in the 12 o clock position. Does anyone know if that’s a common thing with the Neo vintage omegas and if this can be fixed without replacing the entire dial ?

@MrEliwankenobi4 ай бұрын
I’ve just “discovered” this watch and ABSOLUTELY love it. Everything about it. Even if the movement is not an awesome co-axial, it’s a very solid upscale ETA 2892-A2 based movement. The hands, the dial, the lume, the inconspicuous date window not limiting a proper sized hour marker, the bracelet looks much better than current SMP model. WOW! I really want to like the current SMP, but I feel as if I would need to make some compromises, while this design takes care of all of them. I would love for Omega to make a new version of this model, with the super robust coaxial movement, Applied markers instead of painted on, Date window at 6 o’clock, Case and bracelet using their new “Omega Steel” and Improved ceramic bezel with Lumed markers as well….. Oh!! That would be so good!
@TheRandomWatchDude4 ай бұрын
Honestly if Omega re-launch this 2254 model with all the modern improvements, they will totally own the black dive watch market. It's frankly criminal that they haven't done this already as it doesnt require a new case or tooling. Just a different dial and hands, and the old Speedmaster bracelet with a modern clasp.

That video is 100% accurate. I bought the 2262.50 a couple of months ago (Mid-Size Quartz version) and it literally put an end to my desire to buy more watch for some reason. Everything is perfect (weight, size, overall design, font, bracelet design, etc. ; the original blue bond omega looks a little bit outdated imo with the controversial bracelet design). It really packs a punch for a watch at that price point. I was looking for the new SMP300 (looks good, but didn't wanted to wear a hockey puck on my wrist), but came across the Peter Blake version. It was literally love at first sight and knew I had to have it.

PX’d a particularly tasteless Rolex I inherited for one of these about 20 years ago now. Not a watch obsessive, wasn’t into all the Bond marketing hype of that era, just loved the design (less keen on the usual Seamaster dial etc). Wore it daily for years, everywhere from rock climbs (!) to black tie functions, picked up plenty of knocks and scrapes, these things are made to be used not stored away in vaults. Had no idea about the Peter Blake link. Now I suddenly find I apparently have impeccable taste in watches and the only ‘proper’ timepiece I’ve ever owned is rapidly approaching cult classic classic… nice! For me the best exit watch is at the citizen, Seiko, tissot level. It’s all so affordable, accessible , low key and within purchasing power that there’s a cessation of watch cravings lol Separately can consider a ceramic watch to avoid scratches 🎉

Not the new omega Seamaster chronometer you will get mugged because its just in your face a Damasko dk32 is a better watch. People won't mug you for it anyway you do a great video

I wear all my watches , not one wears me. For the viewers who get in a tizz at even the thought of scratching their baby, just buy an F91W and be done with !!. 2254.50 is the best Seamaster 300 ever . Its often touted on tinterweb and KZbin ' It would be great if Omega released a new version '. No it wouldn't because Omega would fuck it up , probably thick as a brick with a ceramic bezel and lob sword hands on it. If I had to sell all of my collection I'm with you Mark , I would keep my 2254. Not because I would be worried about any of my Rolex or whathaveyou getting swiped off my wrist, its because it is and always will be the mutts nuts of my collection.

Nice one Keith! I agree with you that Omega will probably make a dog's breakfast of the new sword hand Seamaster, although seriously where the F is Omega these days? I think they might be in trouble what with the massive downturn in demand. They need to release a refreshed Seamaster and soon!

I love that watch I got well had a bond the first coaxal one which I wore for over 12 years and if I ever get another I want a Peter Blake It's the one I did want but they didn't make them anymore, and yes Omega do a great service send all parts back they changed. one thing though I did find the bracelet was sometimes to loose sometimes to tight the new micro adjust and display back is what that watch needs also I did find the crowns could come loose for no apparent reason but yes that watch goes with anything your wearing and is built like a tank awesome watch I'm going to look online now for one for sale lol Andy UK.

Bang on👍 I have two !! I originally Bought the midsize automatic (36mm) as I wasn't into large watches...but always knew I'd end up with the 41mm at some point and took the plunge about a year ago and got the large one...I absolutely adore it , the sword hands are killers and give it the original vintage British Forces military look. I absolutely hate the skeleton hands of the 2254's younger brothers. I replaced the bracelet and have mine on a good quality mesh bracelet and I think this makes it pop even more. They hold their money and go for around £3000 for a decent example with box and papers which is pretty good for a watch that looks this good

The real exit watch has already been established a little over fifty years ago. The Omega Speedmaster, it was the watch picked to exit our big blue ball for the first time.

So... I own a few nice watches, Rolex, Omega, Grand Seiko, ... and my Exit Watch, if I could only have one... would be... My G-Shock MRG-B5000B-1DR "Square" No Servicing, no fiddly crown setting, no winding, atomic accuracy with multiband 6, waterproof to 200 metres, shock proof, scratch resistant, lightweight & hypoallergenic... It's a Grail Watch stealth wealth. ❤😊

Congratulations! I saw a G-Shock for sale recently and it was like several thousand dollars. Looked just like a normal plastic one! Stealthily wealthy indeed!

The 2254 is the only watch you need as a dude. Save your money on all these other bs watches, and put it into retirement, buy a Porsche, learn a new skill, learn how to drive a stick shift, enrich yourself with experiences. If you make less than $500,000 and you spend all your on watches is frankly...you are sad.

@ollyyung2859 i guess everyone gets enjoyment out of different things in life. I've been driving a manual since I was 17, and have ripped a Lotus around a track. Fun but not a hobby.

An exit watch is like a wife, but yeah - you can still get a divorce. Unfortunately it's not cost effective to flip the missus onto the grey market hehe.

I bought mine new in 2003 and it was my first ‘proper’ watch. Bought it because I just liked the look of it but very happy it’s been recognised as a classic. Love the cool silky snug feel of the bracelet. It’s surprising that watches became thicker, more bulky and less comfortable. Had it serviced about 8 years ago and liked that all parts were returned to me. I’ll never let it go but I do have my name down for my first Rolex…🫢

I'm so envious of anyone with this watch ( one day..), only the electric blue version makes me more green. I never knew brand new hands could be replaced on watches of that age. Is this typical if just Omega or other ( even cheaper) brands? Happy diving , the deep or desk, with it.
@mattsa7 ай бұрын
I was surprised and pleased when Omega replaced the hands on Mark’s and gave him the old ones back. Great to see Omega keeps parts for older watches. And as Mark says, you can get a good one from a Japanese dealer and get it serviced. Worth saving up for!
