The problem with solar is the cost of battery storage. That is never ever factored into costs by these Solar snakeoil salesmen. And of course the cost of regular replacement of batteries when they are at the end of their lifecycle.

They're working on calcium batteries that should be much cheaper and stronger than the current lithium batteries. Hopefully they'll figure something out soon.

If it is so cheap to build solar, why do the utility companies charge so much for it? Our utility offer to sell you only solar and it was much more costly than their regular rate.

Would be interesting to know where he got the data that Canada's energy is 80% renewables. Everywhere I looked I saw 20%. I believe the guy from the Truckers' Association. This guy didn't really respond to his concerns.

@Pogdub according to Elon Musk, solar is more efficient than nuclear on a land use basis. Please counter this point with facts and data.

6:50 the factor you're missing is that the panel only generates energy when the sun is shining, while the coal generate electricity 24x7. Avg panel only gets 2-6hrs of light/day over the year, depending on location

Our panels do generate on cloudy days but not enough to keep up with consumption.

Coal also costs money to buy and you burn it up. The sun or wind is free.

This guy has the same ideas that the western world ESG mandates demonstrate (far from reality and not necessarily green because there is always natural resources needed to harvest or convert and store energy). Remember energy is never created or destroyed, it merely changes form.
