After being drafted into the Army in 1969, Stephen Franich Jr. completed training as a helicopter pilot and deployed to Vietnam in 1971. Franich would spend the ensuing twelve months flying combat operations with both the 134th and 129th Assault Helicopter Company.

Remember, you are not God. All the kings horses and all the kings men, couldn't put humpty together again. You did all that could be done. They knew you cared. There is no better way to go Brother. Sacrifice for the greater good. The Republic for which it stands. God bless you and all who serve.

If haven’t read the book on Huey pilots in Vietnam called Chickenhaak, definitely give it a read. It definitely moved me in college.

You, your crew, the Medics & Corpmen have been praised by this ex USAF Nurse ( your war) who got lucky & didn't have to set foot in Nam but I took care of them 24-48 hours after being hit in the field, had them at Tachikawa AFB, Japan. I later had the honor of being a Flight Nurse, bringing our guys on their last leg home. I saw first hand the results of your incredible service. Thank you
