I have been living in UAE since 2014 and I understand the market and culture here very well. The most important thing is that Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed joined this event which is really a big thing. This means that NIO has no other option but to be very successful in UAE. The point here is not only to increase deliveries but most importantly is to make NIO more popular in the world. This is because Abu Dhabi and Dubai are two reference cities to many other. Secondly, 90% of people living in UAE are expats (not locals) which means that more people will know the brand in the world.

I couldn’t agree with you more. I’m impressed by the high level support CYVN investment is facilitating for NIO.

I think we should not be naive, UAE has unlimited capital. If NIO develops a R&D business there you are looking at unlimited technology with unlimited capital, we’re done in the west. They are developing there what the western countries have dreamed about, a technological advance utopia.

i bet Sky OS is the real value proposition in this deal (and the chips too)

Marcel, Thank you for your analysis.

These tariffs could be a blessing. I disagreed with Nio expansion into europe because of the massive infrastructure cost it would take to distinguish Nio from the competition. The tariffs sealed the deal for me that western expansion is a mistake at the moment. Plenty of other friendly places in the world to do business with. It could be a win win for both sides.
@flukeylukey7559Ай бұрын
I think nio still has to expand in Europe, the battery swap partners will need swap stations soon. But maybe they should scale back the amount nio houses in each country, perhaps 1 in each country with a service centre for the moment.
@sharpshot611129 күн бұрын
The EV market is extremely competitive. Avoid any country that adds tariffs on this already over crowded market. Maybe once the tariffs end you can revisit the issue.

Abu Dhabi investors have deep pockets and that's great news for NIO. Also, since Europe will ban sales of ICE vehicles in 2035, ev sales will explode in the coming years. Opening a factory in Europe is a must and I'm sure Li Bin will consider it once NIO is profitable and recognised more as an international brand.

With this new arrangement the capital issue with NIO would almost become non existent, should they ever get into that situation which is unlikely, similar to Lucid getting capital from Abu Dhabi

I talked in previous videos how in the future they can even use 47 to funnel money into NIO, if needed. No need to issue shares.

SHANGHAI, China, Feb. 26, 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- NIO Inc. Do you think the China government will make NIO limit technology when expanding out of country?
@petruvelisco4827Ай бұрын
Iuuuhuuuuu
@michaelsaldivar4901Ай бұрын
The only thing I worry about is that China is protective of their technology. How much technology will NIO have to share with the UAE governments. It almost seems according to the video it shows the advancement of the UAE technology but it’s not their technology, it belongs to NIO. 🤔.
@anguianoalan100Ай бұрын
Correct but this so to have nio make an R&D and manufacture the new tech in the UAE making it technology from the UAE not China

I was excited in the beggining, but came to realise that UAE and Egypt is very small car market let alone EV.......
@ThanhVo-zr6iyАй бұрын
This is why you should watch the entire video…. Building a relationship with UAE and Egypt is a significant because this could be the loophole around the West and European Tariffs.
@ssjj005Ай бұрын
@@ThanhVo-zr6iy I don't get it. How?
@MoneyMagnet119Ай бұрын
@@ssjj005 The electric vehicle market in the UAE and Egypt is small, but both countries have high growth potential. In particular, the UAE and Egypt, which are seeking to transition to eco-friendly energy, could be important markets in the mid to long term, which could be seen as Nio's strategic advancement.
@ssjj005Ай бұрын
@@MoneyMagnet119 no I was expecting more like entering UAE and Egypt could somehow help EU expansion or something. Again, UAE and Egypt are so small in terms of the market size and EV adoption is very low, not worth investing millions into building BSS.

Many companies like Mercedes, BMW, Toyota, Nissan, Hyundai do have factories in Egypt, the reason being is to take advantage of the cheap/qualified labor, access to funding from rich gulf states, cheap energy and land, and also being used as a hub for the middle east, north Africa and Europe.
