As a history buff, I love your channel. Would like to see you do a story on the impact of the Dutch handing NY over to the British. BTW, Times Square not my favorite place but I was glad to know about its past.

Great video, like all of yours. This is the one place I try to avoid when I'm in Manhattan. Would love to see a video of the surrounding boroughs

Times Square has certainly some a long way from the peep show/'Basket Case' era. Thank you for these incredibly informative videos, Dan. They're an education - and lots of fun besides.

I never knew Times Square was named after the newspaper. I recall a few decades ago, it had a shady rep. It is cooled how the area transformed. I am from Chicago.

Great video. Times Square has become a horrible place in my opinion. But the theaters and Junior's is there!

Isn't the VJ Day kiss photo now thought to be pretty problematic since the nurse said it wasn't consensual?
@pliktl11 ай бұрын
The woman who was kissed understood what was happening, and when interviewed, she had fond memories of that day. I doubt it would have become so popular had she been offended. Being a bystander of unbridled joy kinda happens when you show up to a celebration.

Being surrounded by such ugly in-your-face advertisement is just so obnoxious and annoying, and why anyone would want to go there and take pictures of it is beyond me. Are there any redeeming qualities to this space, or is it really "Oh let's go look at all th ebillboards and moving advertisements" ?

Other than getting accosted by con artists? No It’s an embarrassment that this is such a symbol of the US, I can’t say it’s not representative though…

Glad to hear I'm not the only one who hated this spot in NYC which is otherwise a great city.
