Its true, you don't need to learn greek to know "what the Bible really says," but it certainly is a great joy to be able to read the original words of scripture in the original language. Learning Biblical Greek is well worth the effort.

This really should have been called "Why you DON'T need to learn Greek," because that's what you spent most of the time talking about. Given your faith in the KJV, your second point is moot, right? You spent so much time emphasizing how the KJV is exactly accurate and expresses all the same ideas as the Greek. But as someone who grew up studying the Hebrew Bible in Hebrew, I strongly disagree with much of this. The biggest reason we have hundreds (thousands???) of translations available is because no single translation can capture all the nuance of meaning and intent of the original authors. Maybe the Greek is different; But the experience of reading the Hebrew Bible in Hebrew, seeing all the word-play (leitworts) and following the roots, appreciating the fun that the authors had with the names of people and places, all of them packed with meaning...... you miss out on worlds upon worlds of richness by reading any translation!!! It is because I see this so clearly that I am now trying to learn the Greek.

Revelation 18.23 says “all nations where deceived by thy sorceries” - sorcery comes from the word Pharmakeia - from whence we have Pharmacy. All nations are being deceived as we speak. But of course the KJV wont give us this kind of depth. Such narrow thinking has accomplished nothing. I’m from Brazil, KJV is rarely used here. God bless you in Jesus’ name.

It seems that the author of this comment has camped on an impassioned point (anti-KJV) and so missed the whole point of the argument. He didn’t say “don’t learn Greek” he declared that you can trust your KJV to know God’s message of salvation. It is an important point to express today because God’s word is increasingly being doubted by believers. Can you draw out more details by learning Greek? Of course. But don’t disregard his point that it took over 50 masters of the language to translate the Greek into English. So how much “more” do you think you can draw out that they couldn’t?

I don’t know what God’s plan is for me in learning Greek but my homeschool curriculum is teaching us how to read it. So I thought I’d try to get a head start without spoiling the actual lessons. I find it fascinating and fun. Now, you just gave me another reason to learn it. I love the idea of having a longer leg to stand on while defending the KJV Bible. We do have the NASB to go alongside the lessons because our vocabulary teachings are taken from the context used in the NASB translation. Makes life easier for the kid’s to have it. I was raised to hold fast to the KJV so I have it as my main Bible. We actually have many translations in our home because I was never sure what to really use with all the conundrums about this and that. I do know that having these different translations, NKJV, ESV, NIV, NASB, NLT, NISB, (we have all of these, lol) helps a young reader to unfold the language used in the KJV Bible and creates a deeper understanding for them. Do to their vocabulary bank. Maybe it’s helpful to even those who are new to the English language, if they haven’t any translation of their own. I love the KJV Bible. To me, it seams to be poetic and it gives off deep vibes that touch my heart. Like it has feelings and it wants to share them with its audience. That feeling of the Bible being, "the true, and breathing word of God," really comes to life in the King James Version. For me anyways. A Pastor, I once listened to taught that the Bible is alive and breathing when you are reading it and if it stays closed for too long, it can not breath the word of God into you. Don’t you just love that! Imagine, open, its breathing, closed, its holding its breath. Open your Bible’s people and breath in it’s fresh air! With out the Word of God, we are drowning in a deep ocean of despair! Sorry, couldn’t help myself. 😂 Thank you for the time you took to make these videos. They truly are a blessing and I hope that you are still actively creating more content.

I love you, and I thank you for your Greek videos. But I just can’t let this video go by without warning my fellow Christian brothers and sisters that this video is rife with errors. If you have to put down 2 semester preachers who don’t know enough, Christian Seminary’s who know too much, along with Biblical dictionary’s and lexicons to defend the KJV it starts to seem a little odd. There is deeper meanings within the Greek, and it’s so fun to search that out, and learn more about Jesus!♥️

Steven Anderson does not speak Greek. He’s the “two semesters guy” that he mentioned in his video. For those who disagree with me, I’d highly recommend going to his interview with James White (fluent in Koine Greek) where Anderson admits he is the “two semesters guy”

The first Bible to be printed in America was the translation made by John Eliot into the Algonquin language, published at Cambridge, Massachusetts, in 1661-3. The first Bible in a European language to be printed in America was Luther's German translation published in 1743 by Christoph Sauer in Germantown, Pennsylvania. What Greek version of the bible do you consider authentic and true? I believe most people use the Greek version written by Westcott and Hort and I agree with you that they've corrupted it since they were non-christians. Which lexicons do you think are sound?

This guy follows the out-dated Textus Receptus, from which the KJV is translated. But most modern English Bible translations are based off the Nestle-Aland Greek text, which is updated every few years to coincide with the evolving state of textual criticism (e.g. as new manuscripts are found that might shed new light, or from the recent resolution of debated passages).

@scottbignell The Nestle-Aland is based on less than 5% of Greek manuscripts that only agree 70% of with each other as opposed to the TR which is 95% of the manuscripts and agrees with itself 99%. The supposed "updated" manuscripts either refer to papari in found in Egypt near Gnostic writings (heretical) or Codex B and Codex Sinaiticus. Neither have been chemically tested to validate they're supposed older date. This is significant because codex B looks like a 15th century manuscript and no record of its existence is anywhere in history until the 15th century. It is owned by the Roman church. Sinaiticus as going to be chemicaly tested but they decided against it. This is probably because there have been manuscripts they dated to the 1st to 4th century that they chemically tested and found out to be frauds. The best example being Codex 2427

Really Sir?!?! Have you taken the time to counter each word in the original Greek, the English derivative cannot come close to the expressive meaning that was penned in the Greek language! Have you ever wondered why God chose Greek for His word to be expressed and spread or do you believe that The Majestic God of this universe, creator of all wonderful things created an oversight--I challenge you to take the time to investigate Gods word in its purest form and how the apostles expressed it- dismissing its calibre is just ignorance

God chose Greek because it was lingua franca of the day. I doubt you know Greek at any real level. There's nothing mystical or magical about it.

These seem to be great videos for beginners. However your veneration of the KJV means that you wouldn’t possibly produce a reading that even slightly varies from the KJV reading, even if translating from the TR, which you also seem to venerate.

With all due respect, you surely do speak German at home today in modern German or one of the modern dialects. But if you tried to speak or read German as it was spoken 2-thousand years ago, you would lose much because you would not know the social, moral, cultural and political contexts of the times. Until the 2nd world war, some cultures managed to keep their culture consistent with age-old traditions. They chose to continue to live as their ancestors lived and only interacted with others when it was essential for survival on an economic level and to avoid infringement of the laws laid down by those who had authority over them in the political and military standards under which they lived. If you have questions with regard to what I mean, please advise where you may be available for further personal verification regarding what I'm saying.

I don't understand your statements that Nestle/Aland and Westcott/Hort are not to be trusted. Those men are Greek scholars of the highest order who spent decades studying the language, they are hardly some fly by night pastors who are ignorant of the language. I think you need specific evidence proving that they are wrong. I don't doubt the pedigree of the KJV translators, I'm sure King James searched throughout his empire to find the very best available Greek scholars he could find. But isn't it true that the KJV translators used Erasmus/Stephanus source documents which were all dated no earlier than the 10th century?

In modern Greek pronuntiation, the words for "we" (hêmeis) and "you" (h^ymeis) arer both pronounced "imis" - that would be very confusing.

Once again it seems to be another lesson on discouraging individuasl from seeking word further, down to it's purest form. No one wants to unlearn years of theology . So it's better to not attempt or have others attempt. study to show thyself approved and that means the entire way. Your mush destroy sometimes to build. Better to have the basic at first then to fight with yourself later. If it wasn't such a conflict of teachings, people wouldn't have died trying to translate it for the start. Think about it. Hebrew should be first, then Greek, then English. That way you can truly know what being said. Doesn't sound like a easy road does it? I started my journey today, that's why I am here on KZbin to see what others have to says about it. But my mind is made up, I will go all the way, with the Lord's help.

Mr. Anderson sir, in a previous video, while discussing the Greek letter ψι psi, you referred to Poseidon as a false god. Why is he false? Because you say so? If you show no respect for other religions, your religion will be shown no respect.

Truth isn’t subjetive. If one believes something to be THE truth, then, by default, the alternatives are rendered false. We cannot say Christ is God and Poseidon is God, because the Bible says there is only one God. Unfortunately this politically correctiveness that spawned over the past decade is leading an entire generation to Hell. There is no such thing as “my truth”. Truth is universal and does not require our acceptance of it to be. May Jesus bless you with discernment.
