I go into the reasons why Toku is dying, Reiwa era is looking pretty bleak for real. #supersentaiseries #tokusatsu #kamenrider #boonboomger #gotchard #reiwa #garo #GoldenKnightGaro

Honestly I sorta agree, it feels like nowadays toys and merchandises aren’t as big as they used to be especially in an era where kids are more entertained by screens than toys which is what many Toku shows aim for. Honestly I don’t blame hasbro for pulling the plug on power rangers either because they had low sales compared to other franchises doing the same thing. I’ve been a passionate collector for decades but recently it feels more Iike a choir than a hobby because I’m not invested as I was back then. I’d hate to say the best days for toku are behind them but I can’t get invested like I used to. Don’t get me wrong, I love rider, Sentai, & power rangers but it feels like it slowly dying out

I couldn't agree more. It's not completely dead, but that flare and passion is starting to fade, and it's starting to show a lot more now. I'm rewatching older toku shows and movies more than checking the new stuff.

I agree Reiwa is bleak but I think for different reasons this is just you shitting on recent shows for the most trivial reasons 😭

I think the 1 year time crunch is a reason for this feeling. One season can be really good, then the next pretty mid. Sometimes it takes a year or two for a season to come out that I enjoy, and that is fine. Doesn't really mean that toku is dying. Hell even ameri-toku or toku adjacent media like Loser Reject and the new godzilla movies are doing great. Gotchard toy sales are pretty good so that could mean more budget for the next few series. We won't have a full on heisei phase 1 again because we are not really in the time of darker stories on mainline series. You seem to be a fan of those and I agree, black sun, amazonz and faiz are great. But mainline yearly toku aren't really like that most of the time, its a kid show at the end of the day. Black sun did pretty good, so a season 2 or another remake like that, might appear in the next few years.

That may be true, and that's what happens when you have a meta franchise. Godzilla is doing alright, Loser Reject is not toku, that is a manga and anime which is also terrible. Black Sun was very close to being a top notch show, but left a lot to be desired. Aoi wasn't that good of a character, that ending was also misguided, Nobuhiko was wasted, and Kotaro barely had much to do in the story.

I can't really say much regarding why toku has been bad lately. I'm at that age where i'm just kinda exhausted Not really a Sentai fan so i won't comment on that. I stopped after ep 1 of Gotchard (Not bad just not a strong 1st episode). Not because its bad, its cause I'm just I really enjoyed Geats but dread Revice (feelings which lingered while i was watching Geats) and i didn't want my memory of rider to be bad. Regarding Garo Heir of Steel, IMO: The overall serialized story is fine(definitely weak but better than VR) but it lacks the number of episodes it needs to flesh out the characters, this is why "episodic" episodes are needed. To portray the gradual growth of the characters more naturally along with variety of stories instead of just the main plot. I disagree about your take on Ultraman though, i grew up watching it and rewatched it, especially TDG era. They're just very different when it comes to story telling. Focusing more on the human efforts/stories rather than the powered individuals. Even when it comes to the New Gen Era of Ultraman, they still have memorable stories as well despite the mixed reputation it has garnered.
