He doesn't understand that, which he clearly demonstrates at 18:50 - yes, taking over Greenland would be absorbing an entire country. It's just a country that isn't fully independent (yet), just like Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. There are some major differences between those three and Greenland though, particularly when it comes to becoming independent. Greenland is guaranteed by law that they have the right to determine when to vote on independence. Scotland had that chance, but after that failed, they now have to convince the UK government all over again, if they want another go at it.

The United States' reputation globally is at its lowest point in memory, and trust in American leadership has eroded significantly. Consider the handling of the Middle East under US guidance: tens of thousands of Afghans who risked their lives to aid the Americans have been left to endure the Taliban's rule. Ukraine is another glaring example of diplomatic failure. The US, under the Budapest Memorandum orchestrated by Bill Clinton, convinced Ukraine, the country with the second-largest nuclear arsenal, to relinquish its weapons in exchange for security assurances. Yet in 2014, when Russia annexed Crimea, the Obama administration stood by without meaningful action. Now, Trump openly suggests surrendering Ukraine's sovereign territory to its aggressor. Such actions will have lasting consequences. Imagine the US trying to broker disarmament deals with countries like Iran or North Korea if their regimes were overthrown, they'd likely scoff at any American promises of protection. This credibility gap threatens the global order. Even more concerning are recent threats of taking sovereign countries, including NATO members, by force. This directly contravenes Article 1 of the NATO treaty, which establishes the principle of non-aggression. If democratic nations abandon moral integrity, they empower authoritarian regimes like Russia and China to act without restraint. The US loses any claim to the moral high ground when its actions undermine the very principles it professes to uphold. An increasingly isolated America doesn't just weaken itself but strengthens adversaries who wish harm upon democratic values. In today’s interconnected world, the consequences of one nation's actions ripple globally. For instance, wildfires in California don’t just devastate US communities but they can also impact European consumers, as US insurers who cover the damages are often reinsured by European institutions, ultimately passing the financial strain to their citizens. It's time to recognise that we are more interdependent than ever before, and any disregard for shared global responsibility will only deepen the challenges we all face.

This guy fundamentally misunderstands what Denmark means when saying "Is not for sale". It means that it cannot be sold. It's more than not akin to asking England if they want to sell Northern Ireland. They cannot sell that. No matter the price. For Denmark (and Greenland) Greenland is a country that is a part of the Kingdom of Denmark. Just like Wales is a country a part of the United Kingdom. Buying Greenland from Denmark is absurd and not remotely realistic. People like this KZbinr not understanding this is a part of the confusion. Like every other country on the planet, we trade with allies for things each of us want. That's how economies work. Low trade barriers (similar to those provided by the trade agreement we currently have with the US and Mexico), are good. Talking about threatening another country's sovereignty is dangerous, disrespectful, and well... bad. If the US can 'force' a sovereign territory to join the US how is that any different to any other expansionist dictator? How could the US ever slap down Russia or China, or North Korea if they decide it's in their best interests to take over another country? Remember the first Iraq war? This whole conversation is ridiculous.

What Americans don't seem to really understand is that that passage goes directly through Canada. It traverses through incredibly delicate ecosystems and majority of Canada is not even remotely interested in seeing it happen as the potential economic benefits just does 't equal the environmental. On top of the these lands are important cultural, historical and ecological importance to our first nations people especially inuit. The exploitation of our cou try for corporate greed is not seen favourbly here in Canada and has strong resistance. On top of this would also add a great deal more defense costs needed as so many ships traveling through our waters. Ya not worth it. As for Trump annexing us. Nope mot going to happen. Trudeau was the head of the liberal party won of several political parties in Canada. As leader of the party he became prime minister but the last two elections the liberals were elected as minority government. This means of the parties they had the most votes but not a enough of a majority to pass bills without support of other parties such as NDP and Bloc Quebecois. They have been in power for quite awhile now and have made some mistakes. People are looking for change and Trudeau's popularity has been slipping. He survived 2 nonconfidence votes brought by Polievre but threat of another and ndp and bloc saying they would not support him this time, loss of confidence and difference of opinions within his own party essentially worsened by trump and his threats. Trudeau desided to do the responsible and mature thing and stepaside for the liberal party to elect a new leader that has higher chance of winning more votes. Trump isn't the cause just the catalyst the sped things up slightly. Trudeau was elected in 2017 if that helps give an idea. You might find a few of the recent videos put out by the Meidas Touch interesting. They've showcased some of Canadian responses and did afew interviews with some of our political leaders. Trump found out how much it costs for cargo ships to pass through other nations waters, and that's about it. The US deserves more money and stuff. He's not aware how fair trade works, and that the biggest export oil, basically exports everything not needed by the US themselves already. On top of all this he's also talked about NATO allies not purchasing their "fair share" of US products, stating the food quality isn't rubbish, we're just being mean, so he may not send military aid (not that he doesn't sympathise with Vlad enough already over Ukraine...). That of course would be a direct breach of agreement, and the US would likely be removed from the pact, and as such embolden Russia, China, N Korea and many other nations, due to a weakened "team good guys", or perhaps even move closer to them. All to sell chlorinated chicken and peanut butter with 10% extra added dead bugs and rat droppings, and get lower costs to do so. As a little bonus, his buddy Elon has been dumping on the UK Prime Minister for dropped enquiries (during his opposition's reign btw), whilst promoting his and Donald's shared right wing friend and lying Brexit instigator Nigel Farage. It's truly a horrific state of play.

SOOOOO much misunderstanding of Canadian health care. All we have is a public insurance system. Doctors are (mostly) private businesses, but they only bill one insurance company... run by each provincial government. There are no copays, deductibles, premiums, or limits. The government department pays the bill when it arrives - all the decisions on treatment are between the doctor and patient. Period. Also, every resident is covered (after a waiting period if you are new to the country - typically 3 months)... no billing is refused. it's efficient and keeps costs low. Outcomes are better than the US for most things, life expectancy is longer. There are no waits for urgent care, BUT there is triage. If you broke your finger you are going to be bumped by heart attacks, traffic accidents, sick kids, etc. The provinces run the systems independently, and each one does it slightly differently and some are better than others, but in general it works well. My extended families experiences - everything from births to lung transplants to cancer to accidents to a couple of rare infections have been fantastic. Timely, compassionate and effective care. My last ER visit for a kidney stone was in the early evening - total time - 2 hours in and out including admission, wait time, full blood work, a CT scan, saline IV drip, morphine shot, and doctors consult. I was set up with a doctor for follow up and handed a bunch of painkillers and sent on my way - no cost (except parking). I could have gone to any ER in the city - no out of network hospitals. In fact I could have gone to just about any hospital in the country with no additional cost or paperwork (although there may be some exceptions in xsome provinces). The reason it is a 'Canadian" health care system is that the federal government, in return for providing a significant amount of the funding for health care (which constitutionally is a provincial responsibility), mandates certain levels of care the provinces must provide and also mandates that all health care is provided through this payment system. Every province accepts the federal money and so signs on to provide the mandated standard of care. Some procedures, some times, can have significant wait times. The less serious your issue the longer you might wait depending on where you are (rural, big city, the province you are in etc.). This is a moving target as resources are deployed to meet demand, etc. The wait times are not unlike wait times in the US, also depending on where you are, the coverage you have, etc. And the system responds... in my area, there was a growing number of heart issues requiring open heart surgeries a number of years ago. A number of new open heart capable operating theatres were being built to grow with the demand. Unfortunately , before they were complete, there was a random spike in cases that overwhelmed the resources in the city. Not an ideal situation. But our system resounded and found resources in nearby cities (including in Washington State) and flew patients by air ambulance to where they could get care. No charge. The situation only lasted days, and it's not ideal for patients or families, but the point is you get care... no asking the insurance company for approval first. Recently, Canada's population has been growing at an incredible rate. Our biggest issue in health care (and housing, and other infrastructure and services) is keeping up with the growth. A small country of about 40 million has recently been growing by over 1 million people per year - a fairly large new city every year. Every major hospital, university and many schools seem like construction zones as they are all expanding all the time and have been for years. Staffing is an even bigger issue. Is the system perfect - of course not. would I give it up for the US system? Not a snowball's chance in hell - as our PM so eloquently put it.

Funny how you mentioned the Canadians complaining about their healthcare system and you being surprised that they don't have an option for private care. When you do have that option it's most likely only for the people who can afford it. And since there is only so much medical staff available in a certain area (state, province, country whatever) it means that the private care will take piority by whatever means (paying higher salaries, better benefits etc.) to get the staff they need and before you know it (skipping a few steps, but you can fill in the blanks with a little bit of imagination, right?)... You have a US health system, with great doctors and highly educated nurses! Absolutely wonderful. If only people could afford it! 😫 Now I live in the Netherlands where we have reasonable affordable healthinsurance (depending who you ask, obviously. For people living on benefits or minimum wage it's still a big chunk of their monthly spending) but the complaining about the waiting lists before they can get medical treatment is huge a lot of times. But we too only have so many docters, nurses, beds, O R 's etc. Not even to mention organ donors. Now we do have a problem with medication at the moment because the government has set maximum prices on what they are wiling to pay the pharmaceutical companies for certain medication to keep the costs of the insurance down. And that companies in return are now just raising their finger (and I don't mean the pinky) and just sell the medicine to others that are willing to pay what they're 'asking'. So no system is perfect. 🤷🏻♂

The Commonwealth comprises 2.5 billion people, and one of its countries has Amy of 1.7 million. In comparison, America's military consists of 1.4 million personnel. The UK will support Canada wholeheartedly if a NATO or Commonwealth country is attacked. Those are, according to a US government site, private run." and the latest reply from someone was: "No, we have a Universal free healthcare system. We do not deal with insurance compagnies. You don't have options because Canada treats it's citizens equally. The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms is part of Canada's Constitution. The Charter protects every Canadian's right to be treated equally under the law. It's very different than the US. Healthcare is a human right in our country. We would never give this up." ChatGPT said: The claim that "Canada has no private health insurance options" is misleading. Canada has a universal healthcare system, which provides publicly funded healthcare to all residents for medically necessary services, such as hospital care and physician services. However, there are nuances to how private healthcare and insurance coexist alongside the public system. Here’s a detailed breakdown with evidence to help clarify the issue: 1. Canada’s Universal Healthcare System Canada’s public healthcare system, known as Medicare, covers most medically necessary services, such as visits to doctors, hospital stays, and diagnostic tests. This is funded by taxes and available to all residents. The Canada Health Act ensures universal access to these services without direct billing or co-pays for patients. 2. Private Healthcare in Canada Private health insurance exists in Canada, but it is typically used to cover services not included in the public system. This includes: Prescription drugs (outside hospitals). Dental care. Vision care. Physiotherapy. Mental health counselling. Private insurance is often provided through employer-sponsored benefit plans. For example, companies like Sun Life Canada, Manulife, and Canada Life offer such policies. For non-covered services, Canadians can pay out of pocket or purchase private insurance to reduce costs. 3. Limits on Private Insurance for Covered Services Under the Canada Health Act, provinces are prohibited from allowing private insurance to cover services that are already provided by the public system (e.g., medically necessary doctor visits or hospital stays). This policy aims to prevent a two-tier system where wealthier individuals could bypass wait times for these essential services. This differs from countries like the UK, where private insurance can offer faster access to publicly covered services. 4. Wait Times and Private Clinics Wait times for less urgent procedures (like elective surgeries) can be significant in the public system. Some Canadians turn to private clinics for faster service. However, these clinics operate in a grey area, as they often charge directly for services and may not accept private insurance for publicly covered procedures. Examples: In British Columbia and Quebec, there are private clinics that provide faster access to surgeries or diagnostic tests for those willing to pay out of pocket. 5. Misconceptions and Charter of Rights The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms guarantees equality under the law but does not explicitly prevent private healthcare or insurance. What it ensures is that all Canadians have access to essential health services, irrespective of their income. The idea that private insurance or private healthcare does not exist in Canada is incorrect-it does exist but operates under specific rules and restrictions. Key Comparison to the UK Like the UK, Canada has universal healthcare but limits private insurance for publicly covered services. In contrast, the UK allows private insurance to cover NHS-equivalent services for faster access. Both systems include private healthcare for non-covered services like dental care. Summary Yes, private health insurance exists in Canada for services not covered by the public system. Private clinics offer faster access to certain services, but this is less common and more restricted compared to countries like the US or UK. The commenter claiming Canada has "no private health insurance options" is incorrect. While private insurance doesn't replace the universal system, it complements it for non-essential services.

The original video is dumb. You can't control the traffic around your country, within your borderline, except in specific cases that all have to do with safety: "Article25 Rights of protection of the coastal State 1. The coastal State may take the necessary steps in its territorial sea to prevent passage which is not innocent. 2. In the case of ships proceeding to internal waters or a call at a port facility outside internal waters, the coastal State also has the right to take the necessary steps to prevent any breach of the conditions to which admission of those ships to internal waters or such a call is subject. 3. The coastal State may, without discrimination in form or in fact among foreign ships, suspend temporarily in specified areas of its territorial sea the innocent passage of foreign ships if such suspension is essential for the protection of its security, including weapons exercises. Such suspension shall take effect only after having been duly published." Those are UN rules. There's no way to legally stop trade by ship, even within your border of waters. Trade must be free. It's, amongst other things, called the free market.

Been watching you guys for (idk feels like years) some time now, and despite we have very different views on certain (or possibly a lot) of issues, I did always think of you as intelligent people, not polymaths, but well educated at least. The fact you guys can't see Trump's plans on Greenland and the Panama Canal (and to a lesser extend Canada) for what they are is rather disappointing. For what it's worth; I'm not a Trump-voter not even an American (I'm Dutch), I just see the potential and would encourage Greenland to become a US state, mostly due to strategic advantages for NATO. PS Even if humanity stopped polluting the planet or even if we never would have at all, the ice on the poles would still be melting (most likely not as fast) as we speak. The earth had it's last little ice-age (LIA) only recently, which was a climate interval that occurred from the early 14th century through the mid-19th century, and is thus still recovering from it. Poles have been freezing over and melting since the beginning of earth's existince.
