Very well put and simply said. Uvb is really something a lot of people overlook for turtles I think. One thing to add is that uvb bulbs lose their strength and stop outputting uvb wavelength light before the visible light itself burns out. So they should be replaced every 6-9 months to ensure that the turtles are ACTUALLY getting uvb light. 😉

Very well said. I rescued two map turtles a few months back and they went their first two years of life without any uvb. Their shells aren’t as bad as they could be at least, but they do have pyramiding on them and they are both the size of juveniles and I unfortunately don’t think they are gonna get any bigger:( On the up side though both are healthy and I’m giving them a good life now:)

Hey man! My name is Ben Zino. I am a 17 year old explorer and wildlife videographer from Central NC. I just found your channel, and your videos are awesome! I love the field herping episodes. Would you be interested in trying to meet up sometime this summer and herping/filming in Eastern NC? Let me know and we can get in touch! -Ben

Hey Ben! Was just checking out your channel, looks like you have some amazing catches! We should definitely meet up and do some herping! My experience in Eastern NC is minimal (I managed to film one video there so far), but I would love have some new adventures there. Do you have any experience with eastern hognoses? That has been an animal on my list for a long time.

Thanks dude, I'm glad that you like my content! Unfortunately, I have never found a hognose snake either. They are definitely extremely rare. Please email me here: benbzino@gmail.com and we can talk about this in more detail!

awesome vid I wish their were smaller species of turtles i would love to have one but I dont have room for the tank lol
5 жыл бұрын
but, there are smaller species of turtles like the common musk turtle, the females only grow to 4.5 inches wheres the males grow a little big bigger and there's the eastern mud turtles both male and female-only grow to 5 inches. maybe if u did some researched on what the smallest turtle to keep as a pet, u would already know this.

If a turtle has never received appropriate UVB light or even heat light, how long would it take to get the turtle to be “normal” or get it stable and better?

Do the lumps in the shell hurt the turtle other than stunting its growth?
@RadiantReptilia

Maybe? I am not sure. It would be sad if they had some sort of chronic pain, so I hope they don't.
