10 is still too much because there's a very high likelihood we have to deadhead back to our spot. I rarely go more than 5 miles unless it's a $20 involved in there. I also live in a very high cost of living area and there's plenty of upper class neighborhoods all around me. They need to stop being so cheap.

People need to realize the bigger picture here. Yes the gig apps are squeezing every penny they can to turn a profit, but the real reason gig apps are drying up is people are sick of being gouged for delivery and increased restaurant prices. The days of covid delivery is over, and now people are just going out to eat or picking up their own orders.

@@ZachDrivesFast - Too many. It's suspicious as hell. Also while you are getting the ugliest offers possible, someone near you might be getting all the fantastic orders. Uber likes to shuffle our money around! I've been on the dirty end of that too often. On Easter, when it was pouring down rain I was out there. Strangely enough I did 15 runs, and No One tipped me after delivery. Usually on a regular day 35-40% will tip me after delivery. Then I had a dbl offer for $9 something, that included one of my regulars at the time. His offers are always between $11-12 alone! Now lets pour a lot of salt on my wounds...later that night my friend messaged me with screen shots of some of the killer offers he, and his boyfriend were getting in a 3 hr. period. Offers between $20-39! I told him I didn't see ANY of those, then sent him a screen shot of 3 runs I took in the same period.

My criteria is as follows: • $7 minimum for single offer, no more than 4 miles and maximum of 15 minute completion time; • $5 minimum for add-on offer, no more than additional 1.5 miles and 10 minutes; • $12 minimum for a double offer, no more than 8 miles with 30 minute completion; • For offers with longer mileage or time (10-15miles/30+ minutes), must be $1+/mile AND $30/hour minimum. By sticking firmly within these parameters, I average about $220/day on a weekday and $270/day on weekends.

If you want the true picture of just how unconsciously greedy these gig-app companies are, you need to get all the information about some of these orders. (1) Total amount paid by the end customer. A complete break down of all the fees & charges. Including if the menu prices were marked up. (2) Total amount of fees paid by the restaurant. How much did the restaurant actually net from the order after all fees? (3) Amount paid to driver, in the context of the time & miles. In summary, of all the money paid by the end customer (excluding tip): - How much went to the gig-company? - How much went to the restaurant? - How much went to the driver?

I pick $2 orders all the time. And I averaged $28 an hour last week for 50 hours. Hard to believe? I don't doubt that! It's true anyways, just not how you are thinking. I own my own 1 person delivery business. I work only in a 4 square mile area of my city. I offer $5 flat rate delivery from any restaurant in my zone to any address in my zone. I drive the $2 app deliveries in order to find new customers. It's less than free advertising... it pays me. And the customer reality of using an app service in that the $2 order actually cost the customer $7. And I'll do it for $5 off app. As for vehicle costs, I ride a $3k scooter that gets 100+ mpg. All of my trips are under 4 miles, most under 2 miles. Because I have so many "cheap" customers, I'm usually stacking 2-4 orders at a time. Which puts me at $3.50 a mile on a scooter that costs 5 pennies a mile to operate. I call it delivery alchemy... the process of turning $2 orders into gold.

I figured I might get a decent add on tip. Nope. $3.00 tip. In addition, it was actually 80 miles, because there wasn’t a chance to get a return fare.

I kid you not, Anytime I show up to grab a high paying Uber eats offer, it has already been picked up and I'm the fifth driver to be in to get it. I suppose I'm the only one that calls support so I can get a few measly bucks for going out of my way thinking I finally had a good paying offer.

I agree.with you that Uber is taking more from us the increases profits. The answer is yes the customers are paying less because they are paying a monthly fee in order to get free deliveries. When they do this, a lot of them, don’t give tips. They feel that Uber should pay us and not them because they already did when they choose the monthly fee.

Yes, this is why I came here. Back in October I started delivering and the orders were reasonable, then in December everything changed. Now it’s mostly broke people ordering fast food to their run down apartment. It’s crazy, broke people ruined this industry. Broke people and desperate people who can’t find any other form of work because they have zero skill sets. So they accept the 3 to 4 dollar orders. Thus ruining the entire gig.

For over 8 hours and 18 trips, I made a whole $93.00 with UberEats. With 18 trips and over 100 miles driven, I only had $26.00 worth of tips! That is averaging $1.44 an order with tips! It also had me jump on the expressway and go all the way to Chicago from the south suburbs (30 minute drive, and drove 15 minutes to get the order). The fact customers can adjust the tip should not be allowed, no "pledging" tips.

My market is Palo Alto CA, near Stanford. Up until recently for both DD AND UE I saw really good orders all day. Then about a year ago DD was almost entirely 2$ orders. And within the last few months, I’ve noticed UE trending in the same direction. I have a busy and wealthy little market. But I’m not going 35 miles one way for $25, or even 5 miles for 5 in this market. Not when it used to be fast quick runs in town for $10-$15 a pop. It’s really Frustrating.

20$ a hour is too low. I know some drivers may struggle to make that if new or in very rough markets but having struggled before and gotten through, then seeing pay cuts, its just not worth it once you factor in the risk, maintenance, fuel costs. 22.50 to 25$ may not sound like much more but it makes a massive difference when you are ideally setting chunk of your pay aside.

Something that I have seen personally as an Uber eats driver is that when I am on a ride delivering food and I am maybe using some other navigation app other than Uber when an offer pops up on the top of my screen, it shows a high base pay with either an equal mileage or less mileage, but in truth when I click on it it shows very small bass pay with high mileage like the ones shown in the video. Has anybody else noticed this too?

As to how much are customers tipping: As a driver, I don't care how much they are tipping. I care how much the initial offer is. If a majority (or all) comes from Door Dash, fine by me. I might cringe just for just a minute when I see no tip, but we've been conditioned to feel that way. If I accept an offer and there is actually more given to me at the end (due to hidden tip), so much the better, but I would've been happy with the initial offer.

I've noticed that during certain times (usually after midnight) if you are the only driver in the area, then you could decline and wait for a few minutes and they will bounce it back to you for a few dollars more. Generally it's when I get a drop off into a "zero hot spot" area. Then if I get an order in this area and decline, it just comes back to me again... (highest jump in pay was $7 CAD) usually it's $2-4 more. There's no minimum order amount, so UE needs to reduce pay from "profitable" orders to pay for these minimal orders. I've delivered $6 worth of pizza for $5 delivery pay for me, there's no way UE is making money on that transaction.

I have been pondering the far low rate uberEats orders that I get. I believe its because either noone is in that area to accept it at the time or request. or (and most often) its the low rate/no tip reequests that uberEat deliverers do not accept. If a request isnt accepted I imagine it goes to trip radar, and offered to the next closest deliverer, and keep going out further until someone gets the customer their food. and depending on where they order from, the request goes to the restaurant closest to the deliverer that accepts it. the establishment doesn't usually make the orders until a delivery is accepted. A lot of times, i imagine, if you go to a place that already has it made, someone accepted it and then canceled.. of course I can't confirm that.

There is an uptick in trash orders on Uber Eats. Got so bad I didn't do a single Uber order on Sunday. For awhile I was doing better on Uber than Doordash, but now that's reversed. I wouldn't say customers shouldn't be allowed to order from 18 miles away just not for only $6 dollars. I've made a lot of money by taking orders around 20 miles away usually from P.F. Chang's probably, because it's the only one in the Louisville metro area, the next closes one would be in Lexington which is between 70 to 80 miles away. These type of orders for me are usually around 30,40 even $50 and often they are going to Southern Indiana which is fairly comparable to my favorite area so I don't worry about coming back, especially sense it's about the same distance to my house from either spot. Now I'm seldom getting those types of orders unless they are in the trips radar which is hit or miss rather they'll even be legit orders. I've seen Uber orders worse than the one you showed. I say one that was $8 for 40 miles.
