Why University of Memphis leaders believe undergraduate enrollment is declining at the school

The University said COVID-19 added to the enrollment decline, but said there are other factors steering students from attending four-year colleges.

Exactly. They don't believe the lie that you have to go to college to have a good paying career like we all did in the 1990s. Thank God. Most of it is useless anyway.

The new generation and past generations are starting to wake up to the fact that college is a scam & trades are the way to go because look at the economy. It’s entirely too expensive for schooling and you’re not even guaranteed the career or salary you want after graduation. I work at UPS and plenty of my coworkers are in DEBT still paying their student loans and aren’t even in the career path they chose! You don’t have to make decent wages to go to college anymore. Unless you want to enter the medical field then by all means go to college but the other useless classes they offer are just that useless.

Kids of the 90s were fed those lies and we believed it. It's why I'm where I am currently. Even in 12th grade, I had no clue what I wanted to study in college. But I knew I loved cars. Problem is that there was a stigma associated with going to a trade school back then. As if trade schools weren't good enough and we all believed it. It's why I didn't become a automotive tech like I wanted. I thought people would think less of me, etc... I'm still dealing with the results from that crap and I graduated high school in 1999.
