Very nice gear: CASTEL-M; simple and nice to use with a good mechanical stability!

There was mention of answering my question with an email. I am wondering when I might get that.

Hi John: Your questions from chat: - Using the Castel M with the Castbal Pro bellows and moving the camera 1 click (.01mm), how far does the focus plane move between shots for a stack. - Leica S (sensor 30 X 40 MM) and Schneider 90MM flat field lens and aperture 4.5 or 5.6 - Forgive me for not being here for any potential answer, but I will surely view the replay on KZbin. I am extremely interested in this concept as I focus stack the orchids I grow, and Rik Littlefield of Zerene recommends moving only the camera for these larger objects reducing the number of artifacts. - What is the difference between the two mounting flanges for the 2 90MM flat field lenses and are they sold separately =============== To determine how far the plane of focus will move with the combination of CASTEL-M and CASTBAL-PRO we need to know the magnification you are working at. The transmission ratio that comes into play with this setup is bigger at lower magnification and becomes less apparent at higher magnifications. So the effect that we see in product- and studio photography - that let's you stack objects with a greater DOF than the 100mm CASTEL-Ms sliding block is capable of traveling, almost disappears the closer you get to life-size. So at 1:1 We'd say the plane of focus will probably travel 0.1mm here. Does this sound reasonable? The 2 mounting flanges for the 90mm lens can of course be purchased separately and the differ in diameter to accomodate the 2 bellows sizes we offer - namely BAL-F and BALPRO-series bellows. If you want to continue the conversation please shoot us an email: info@novoflexus.com and we can work out al the details.

Please watch the short videos I posted here. I'm using a C-Mount lens (25mm, parallel precision vertical lens) and an industrial microscope camera with a Sony IMX-226 sensor (I bought from China). How can I improve the quality of the photo and video I take? I'm in California. Thank you.

Hi Matt LA: Thanks for your question. And happy to help. It would be easier to help you solve problems that you identify, rather than making blanket suggestions. Can you describe in detail what you find lacking about your current gear or image quality? One suggestion that could help improve the video technique is to use a geared focusing rail (or two at opposing axes) for moving around the subjects at high magnification.
