I'm just starting to dabble in solar since discovering LFP batteries and I'm glad I chose a victron controller. I've got the small 75/10 one but it's great. I'm in the UK so sun and cloud varies wildly but as you say it keeps up.

love the video ! really shows the speed of MPPT tracking. this really adds up over time. my main controllers are Morning star MPPT Tri-Star ones. they work fast MPPt as well. just harder to set up. I had to custom promy small system is victron gram for 24V Nickel iron flooded battery system. for me this was easy. my small system is victron 75-15 . can do 12/24V AGM or LiFePO4 or custom settings for outher battery types. set 12V AGM now. charging station only. no loads . has anderson disconnect's throughout the system. super fast and easy. to change it. with victron you can plug in USB cable and program direct PC as well. and what I love the most that victron products can be networked together with ease .

One thing I have noticed about my 100/50 Victron smart charge controller is that the wires keep pulling out sometimes I’ve got them in there pretty good now however I’ve noticed you use ferrules do you have good luck with them? I thought about using them for the Solar in and the battery in and the battery out

How should the jumper be configured on the Victron 75/15 for 12V LiFePO4? Is it supposed to be removed when configuring charge controller for that application via Bluetooth?

Is wattage more important for charging or high amp input for charging 12v systems?? I noticed your amp input was low. Cheers Adam

What is the reason for dropping the default 14.2 absorbtion to 14.0?

I have a relatively small off-grid solar set up (300 watts on the panels, four 6v 220 Ah AGM batteries wired in S/P to give me 12v & 440 Ah). I'm adding a Victron inverter this spring so I can run some low-wattage LED A/C lights and phone/tablet chargers, etc. I currently have a Morningstar Tristar TS-45 PWM controller and a Trimetric battery monitor. They work fine, but I can't get much information out of them, as it seems like I would be able to get from the Victron controller and their SmartShunt. The area where my cabin is also sees wild fluctuations in sun & clouds, with alot of cloudy days in the mix. It would be nice to see - easily - what the controller is doing during that time. I'm on the fence about switching over to Victron because nothing is "broken" or needs replacing in my system. It's mostly an issue of ease of operation and information detail. What do you think? Thanks!!

I started with victron 75/15 and now have 2- 100/30's and one 100/50 as well. disappointments i have is the two 100/30's will not end absorption at the same time. This means one is stuck all day at absorption but at float voltage as the loads are exeeding 30a. The 100/50 over heats at more than 40 amps without forced air cooling. It needs a built in fan, especially for the price. It de rates to 150 watts when its hot....

I started the same way bro. But with the Lovely little 20 and Can't stop now, i have the fifteen the twenty the thirty and the thirty five. I try to buy them on sale, if possible ..The 100/50 is next 😂 Not doing over 40a so that's good to know. Ty

We have 1200 watts of used 300 watt panels cooling a 14x8 shed with one layer of R9 fiber panel insulation, and they produce about 5-6 kw/day, in mostly full sun in the summer. In 100 degree days, in Texas, a 9k btu 20seer Pioneer Diamante mini-split needs about 7.5kw/day to keep the temp at 72-75 degrees from 9am to 9pm. 80 degree days would be a LOT less. We have a transfer switch and pull around 1-2 kw/day from the shore(house) power.

It's interesting, as I've, due to your vids, and others, picked up a 100/50, to try against my 8415 AN Epever, which has been running flawlessly for a year and a half, and have compared it directly with the epever. I added a smartshunt, and a Cerbo GX, and the Victron, on two mostly full sun days, but with some clouds and compared it to our house solar as a control, but the Epever actually produced more(on a cloudier day). I also bought a Victron 75/15 to run our tool shed, which also passes power to our home office, and simply couldn't use the Victron as the load out would not work like it does on the 30 amp epever I have in there(per victron's forums a bug that they refuse to fix). Long story short, we're building a 3600 watt array to run the AC in our garage, and charge our Ford Lightning, and we were going to pick up a Victron Multiplus II to run that, but I think now we'll just repurpose the Epever, since, it also does 48v. I think the phone app actually functions more simply and more readably in the Epever. I just don't see a justification for the additional expense. If I get a chance to run each for a week before we put in the array I'll check them again, maybe with clouds, as we should start getting some rain again soon.

Could you explain more about the Victron bug/problem you were having. I was thinking of trying a Victron controller but they are a bit expensive. I have several 4210 Epever at present. Sorry I did not understand when you said you could not use the Victron on your tool shed. Thanks. Sam

I am running the load out terminals from the epever, I think, 3210, to a UPS in my home office, and when I tried the same setup with the victron, it would not output through the load out terminals. It was if it didn't see the UPS to feed to. Seemed simple, but the victron wouldn't do it, the epever did. From threads on the Victron site, this appears to be a long standing bug. I like it because I can then monitor my home office power usage in the Epever phone app, and cloud page, in addition to using the power from the sun, of course.@@sammaimas155

@@sammaimas155 Victron is expensive when buying but in the long run they are cheaper. They last longer, perform better, are safer and are easy to combine with their other stuff. It is a no brainer for me.

Victron charge controllers are awesome, and their inverters are awesome too, the stand by consumption is almost nothing, but those inverters are expensive..I had good results with the Epever back in the day, the one with the giant alunimum heat sink..

I have six 120 watt Renogy panels going to a Renogy 60 amp MPPT charging my two 200ah Lithium batteries powering my 3000 watt inverter. I only run the inverter from about 9 am till about 5 to 6 pm due to shading in the !morning and evening. That said I am running a refrigerator and a chest freezer and sometimes a TV during those hours. The controller struggles to get the batteries back to 14.3 volts which is where it likes to keep the batteries when there is no or minimal load. From what I have seen the Victron app looks much better than the Renogy. My second system is an Epever 60 amp being fed by six 100 amp panels. This feeds two 100ah lithium batteries which supports a 2000 watt inverter. I run this system the same number of hours as the first system. This powers two chest freezers. The inverter will keep the 2 batteries at 13.9 volts but no higher whether there is a load or not. I don't care !much for the Epever controller.
