I enjoy those shounen anime like Jujutsu kaizen, demonslayer, attack on Titan, etc. But Vinland Saga is the first anime I've watched compelling me to read the manga and my goodness this story is incredible. It's not the action. It's the characters. Only one problem .. it's not finished yet!

You realise thorfin is alot like Erin from AOT if Erin was mixed with Levi but at the same time put him in a world where hes not the strongest. The world is also incredibly well made especially from a Japanese manga.

Thorfin is better than Eren. While Eren surrender in his fate like the crybaby he is, Thorfin decided to struggle and to go against his fate becoming a better person surrounded by people they cared about him and he will do anything to protect them

Have your read the manga? Far from perfect, and goes down hill fast. Starts off as one of the best stories i have ever read, right till the end of the Aaslag arc. Cant wait to see all these reactions as soon as Thorfinn decides to quit fighting and the entire story turns into a boring preachy drama. So said as it could have been one of the best mangas of all time, but for some reason it does a full 180 on itself.

I do understand your perspective, but I enjoyed the character drama a lot. It's why I brought up at the start that Vinland isn't meant to be a "battle manga" but rather a look-in at well crafted multidimensional characters. Of course this doesn't mean your POV is wrong, we simply enjoy differing things.

@@user-zh8bc7jo6l I understand the prologue. I not only have read every volume to date, I own them. I can assure you I understand the premise of the story. The refusal to fight happened way too early. The deal Thorfinn made with the kings takes the story in a whole other direction. Now they will be going east to Vinland and Thorfinn will no longer fight at all (which was the best parts of the first volumes). The secret to being the "ultimate warrior" should only have happened near the end of the story. As is right now, the story is stale and feels to have lost its way. Jarkell is the best character of all, and his goal is to achieve what Thorfinn is already achieving but what is weird is even the great Thors himself took longer to give up the sword, and still fights (as shown in the first season), he refuses to kill, yet push comes to shove will still fight to protect.. .Thorfinn no longer fights AT ALL (major difference). The 180 on the character was to fast and gave the story little wiggle room. Still think the roles of the King and Thorfinn should have been reversed.

@@Reg-Guy Thors said the reason he still relies on a sword to fight with is because he is still incomplete as a true warrior. He saw relying on fighting as a problem he needed to solve, not as the final conclusion to his understanding. Also, wdym Thorifnn doesn’t fight anymore? Baltic Sea War is all about him having to make concessions and fight again. Imo what makes Vinland Saga unique among other similar stories is that our protagonist comes to his realization early and the series doesn’t just end. The series is about living by that ideal, not coming to that ideal.
