Yes, this a big camera upgrade over the Neo, but at a much higher cost, and no FPV features. And it's much bigger drone than the Neo, and even folded down it doesn't seem that much smaller. But it does seem great for filming yourself, and I'm sure it will very popular. Great video, thanks for sharing.

One thing I noticed right away is the Flip has depth of field like the Pocket 3. I think they are using the same camera and basic software processing as the Pocket 3. I have the Mini 3 currently and if DJI makes the Flip compatible with the DJI RC-N1 Remote Controller I'll consider it. I'm not buying the RC-N2 screen for "slightly" better distance.

Neah... they already went for the Hover X1 ProMax a few months ago. Flip does not have sensors for sides and rear detection so imagine doing a poi in a tight space. You should see how the X1 moves between the tree branches...

Thanks for such a thorough test and a great video. The quality from the Flip does look very impressive. The slow landscape shots looked stunning. However, some of the faster tracking shots and following looked a little jerky in places. Is that just KZbin or does the original drone footage have that jerkiness? Thanks again for such great content.

Thanks! Yeah, the tracking can be abrupt at times, but I think I’ll experiment more with how near or far the drone is to see what difference that may make.

@ bummer. Hopefully it gets updated. I like the idea of not having to sync audio but at least with the in-built audio you can match peaks easier when using the 32b from mic storage.

It’s the audio from the DJI Mic 2 connected via Bluetooth to the Pocket 3.

What would be awesome is to be able to use just the camera without flying on the Flip. Even with limited or no gimbal control, being able to slip the Flip's fan body into some kind of case with a tripod mount on the bottom, you could set it up as a talking head or hand hold it on a grip. I bet the battery life would be great if it weren't flying.

The Mic min and Mic 2 audio sounded pretty much the same as the phone audio for me unfortunately. I’ve seen another reviewer do a test and the mic mini audio sounded better connected on their video. Hopefully firmware updates make it better.

You’ll need to look on the CAA website. You need to get a flyer ID and operator ID. You have to read through the materials and then do a “test”.

You’re going to get a lot of people comparing this to the Hoverair Pro Max and saying it’s smaller and has 8k. The biggest buyers remorse I’ve ever had was buying anything from Hoverair. Zero Zero Technologies must mean zero functionality and zero customer support. So, about the flip size. I think it’s small enough to just through in your backpack because let’s face it, who carries a drone in their pocket? My DJI 4 mini pro pretty much works faultlessly this is a step up and I’m definitely going to be purchasing this drone. Great review as always Tamara.

Excellent review. But it highlights the apparent acceptability of drones in public places in the uk vs the unacceptability of drones here in Australia. A few days ago i saw a drone being used in public for the first time ever, in the Botanic gardens here in Melbourne. It was just being used to take a selfie of a group of youngish people, but my son and i looked at each other and both said, "wow, I'm sure they are not allowed to do that!". For that reason i wouldn't even buy the Neo, as i can't think where i could use it. But that apart, I'd love that or the Flip! You sell it well!

The only negative encounter I had was yesterday when I was flying someone made a comment, which I found laughable, but I just kept flying.

So enoying like you said in the video I shot everthing in 25,50,100. And bought this today for my runs only for the 25 fps, but I guess I need the controller everywhere 😅

What I do shoot in 30fps and then slow it to 84% which gives it quite a nice look. If you’re just shooting b-roll it’s great but if you wanna talk to match it to your 25fps timeline then yeah, it’s best to change the settings on the remote. Though the app might now allow you to do it there, I had a pre-launch version of the app but it may have been updated now.

@ yes, that’s a work around, I did all the updates 2 hours ago but still 30 fps from the app. I might do it in 30 fps on my running videos, they are outside so should not be any problems with the flicker from lights ☺️ I just need to remeber to set my Action 5 at the same 😅

One thing I don’t like about those mic’s…is that the noise cancellation makes outdoor vlogging sound unnatural. I understand you don’t want cars honking, transport truck driving past and wind blowing around either. I usually will add some sort of ambience in the background of these types.

The Pro protector make the Flight by Wind instabile. The best feature is the Camera and the HDR feature who correct the video by Sunshine and Shadows. I have the Neo and the Mini 4 Pro. So I don’t need this Drone. For first and Vlogger it is OK. The Reason is only the Camera Quality.

The DJI osmo pocket 3 has a 1-in sensor. The DJI flip has a 1/1.3 in sensor. They do not have the same size sensor as you stated in your video. I just thought you would know. I understand that it was probably just a slip of the tongue so it's just a common mistake, but I just thought I'd let you know in case you wanted to post it in the comments.

DJI should have started with this. The image quality of the NEO was so bad that it was a non-starter. The DJI Flip looks like good value, image quality is great for it’s price category, and it is priced fairly. Nice video.
