I have no idea how I never got fired from Walmart after a year of working there. I took 45 minute (15min breaks). Was purposefully rude to the customers. And one time I found $70 cash on the floor, put it in my pocket and walked away. They saw me do that on the cameras and I told them I was walking around looking for the owner. as a worker at walmart i can agree being a cart pusher in winter is horrible so many holiday and it’s cold but when i have my carts i just sit and do nothing for about 15-60 mins so sometimes i even sit in my car and if i really need to i leave the story completely and make 15 an hour. sometimes we help other departments but mainly not. i’m working while keeping up with volleyball basketball and school. i having co-works taking longer than an hour break and people don’t care if they don’t show up and you are working by yourself people will park in the cart slot so we can’t get carts there will be days with 0 carts sometimes mainly holidays which i choose to call off moths ahead to not deal with it. yes i get paid 15 which isn’t bad but 15 IS THE LEAST IN THE STORE WHERE I LIVE HOW AM I IN 20 degrees weather for hours only making 15 when ogp make 18 and they just be taking they time honestly bs but after 6 months u can switch your department i never wanted to be a cart pusher but it honestly isn’t horrible but raise the pay without us the store can’t run.😭

Store standards in our store just faded out of existence. During the pandemic, our store was still consistently busy since it was one of the few allowed to be open. After the restrictions, people were used to going to walmart so it was busier than ever. It was almost like having holiday levels of traffic during normal hours. So being a cart pusher meant that you'd be busy non stop and that if you needed to take your break, a manger would likely argue with you that it was too busy to take a break. If you take your breaks later in the shift, a manager would come to you a few days later giving you shit for not taking breaks at the proper time. Walmarts motto is to be competitive (with dead companies) so they refuse to give raises or hire at a better pay rate. So by time I left in 2022, they tried desperately to get everyone in the store to do carts (which very few did). The handful of people who did it were often new people on the verge of quitting. Now they can't understand why new people quit so quickly. Note: this didn't mention the general frustration of being a cart pusher. Freezing and pushing carts through snow, machine pusher constantly broken, summer heat. The cherry on top is customers driving like maniacs, making it dangerous to be out there at all.

O/N here. I used to run three department’s freight in the store - Hardware, Sporting Goods, and Automotive. I swear to God the amount of fishing lures, lightbulbs, and detailing shit were their own pallet each, above my head every night. Gotta run all that, + an extra skid each department. “6 hours.” O/N looking like they were drafted into war is accurate, because the only people able to succeed on night shift are Goku, people who had BS medical discharges from the Army, and I’m pretty sure there’s three special forces members serving at my store.

I was the night shift coming in for the war LOL! I also worked dairy a lot when I wasn't working GM (hunting & camping, hardware). I'd be cold and tired as heck after my shift. I enjoy dairy when it's Spring and Summer because Walmart barely runs the AC, but it's a little rough during Winter. Still, I liked the job. I barely dealt with customers, management couldn't be mean because they needed us, and we got paid a little better. It was like a war though... Every time Walmart hired new people for the night shift, they'd be gone in a month or three. While I was away college, they got like 3-4 new guys in, I come back and they just drop off one by one until they're all gone. Ok, maybe 1 made it. But Walmart was always gaining and losing ground. Some sections on my shift were fighting to complete their pallets--thanks to this. I've had to help out in various parts of the store more times than I care to remember. A lot of freight and too few people. I am still an employee though. 2 years as of a few months ago.

One thing always got me they want you to keep updated on videos on new stuff in the computers but you can’t sighn into them on your hour lunch break before or after work cause your off the clock but you have zero time while clocked in.makes no damn sense. Both videos are comedy, and ironically inspired me to work at Walmart. As of this comment, it's my 4th day (currently a weekend for me) and it's not all that bad (but thanks to you, I know the worst outcome). I'm currently working overnight stocking (10PM - 7AM), but will eventually shift over to doing overnight remodeling. After getting done working at Subway, I couldn't deal with customers anymore and that's not to say I can't when I need to, but fast food has ruined customer service for me. Also, it just hit me how screwed I am if I ever get sick because you earn PPTO so slow. Roughly 1hr of PPTO for every 30 hours working at Walmart, which is a bit insane, and I can't earn regular PTO because I'm a temporary associate and have to wait until 1 complete year to begin earning regular PTO. It wouldn't be all that bad if I could have regular PTO to help fill the gap, but can't have everything. Guess if I'm sick, I have to take the L, at least I get 5 chances before I get my bones broken. Through, I am in the National Guard, but even if they are obligated to give me days off, I'm still getting screwed at the end. Remember my schedule? 10PM - 7AM? Well, when it's time for me to serve a weekend a month, I have to be there ready, preferably early, at 8AM. On the last day of drill, I typically get off at 4PM, depends, but I'm worried Walmart will work me 10PM the same day. If I'm lucky, I'll get maybe 4 hours of sleep, but hey, guess the money is worth it. My supervisors seem like great people, so I'm hoping to work something out. I just don't wanna work a 9hr shift into a 8hr shift, I'll literally cry. Then the next day, work. 8hr shift, 6 hour break, then a 9hr shift. When I got onto overnights, I just realized how stupid I am due to me working a second job during a day shift (1st shift). Heyooo! Thanks bro! Working overnights aren’t typically too bad its just the work load is usually a lot more. Hopefully they don’t fuck you over with hours but if they do you can schedule a couple days off 2 weeks in advance. Hopefully your supervisors stay working with you, because a horrible supervisor makes or breaks the job.
