Why was Black Ops 2 so AMAZING?

With a black ops 2 remaster coming in 2025 and black ops 2 almost 13 years old, I figured it was time to look back at what made this game so amazing.

My opinion on bo2 is as well that it’s the best cod. In every way but one of my personal favorite things bo2 did/had that modern day cods don’t is the creativity. I remember when the loading screen was you controlling a character in a room with monitors and on the monitor was the game modes (campaign, multiplayer, and zombies). And then once you hit “zombies”, instead of scrolling through map titles on a dropdown menu (basic asl), in bo2 you would spin the globe that was visibly in shambles and infected, and yo destination on the globe was the map you’d spawn in and it was like really planning a zombies expedition, it was way more immersive and cool (just a side note cuz I’m also an assassins creed fan and am in that community too, that proves that you don’t need rpg elements to feel immersive, all it takes is a well developed game and a lil imagination to be immersed) but that’s one of my personal fav things bout bo2 that I miss. The creativity, the care, the passion.

Black Ops 2 was the ONLY Cod I’ve played and truly enjoyed every part of it. Even thought it came out in 2012, I never stopped playing it, even still to this day. Well, it’s hard to play now bc of the modded lobbies. It was just a masterpiece, easy for anyone to play. The lobbies for the most part always had a decent matchmaking system (it seemed like my team always had noobs) but it wasn’t carnage. I love the OG movement, simple create-a-class design, sick score streaks, challenges, camos, this game had it all.

Ahh man, I'm 24 and this really takes me back to middle school and high school. It was such a crazy and fun time. The simple times of coming home from school, playing BO2 till 5 AM with my friends. BO2 as the latest COD at the time and in its prime was something magical. The game was so good I literally could not play any of the COD's after that, and continued playing till like 2018. The thing with bo2 multiplayer was that it was just so simple. The menu and such were very easy and simple to use/find things on. I love this game

I remember ditching primaries and sticking to the pistols when I played this game during its prime. The Tac 45, B23R, and Kap 40 were all amazing, and the new-at-the-time Pick 10 system allowed me to see their best potential. People complain about Riot Shielders nowadays but the amount of hate ive received for the Akiimbo Tac 45 Riot Shield combo in SnD, it was certainly something for me to have remembered it now. Can't say BO2 is my fave though, MW '19 for Multiplayer and Infinite Warfare for its Campaign + Zombies, but BO2 was a great game and my first COD where I bought it launch day. Its praises are well deserved. Great video btw, it was a fun watch!

Yeah its been 11 years since black ops 2 came out and I had so much fun playing split screen local multiplayer with my brothers, uncle, and my father. And the best part about LAN party and local multiplayer is adding Ai bots with the selection of difficulties like Recruit, Regular, Hardened, and Veteran and local multiplayer can be played for a training exercise for players to play online. And Black ops 2 was the first cod games to have 4 player split screen zombies which is so much fun having 4 people sitting on the couch playing zombies. And finally bo2 is the first cod game to have only 1 season pass that cost $50 which is expensive but however if the season pass is on sale, the prices decreased by 70% which makes it $15 which is cheaper and worth buying with all the DLC maps for both multiplayer and zombies and as well as the first DLC weapon the peacekeeper.

What made it great was the writing, the semi-futuristic setting was perfect. The flashbacks of Mason, also Menendez was so well written. Perfectly done. Every character was perfect. Also, the alternative endings made it so good.

Multiple Endings is what missing on games today that had a potential, like Marvel's Spider-Man 2, which I think deserves multiple endings based on what the player is doing. A game similar to this was GTA IV.
