Many of Ange's substitutions puzzle me, but to be fair to him, they do usually work out. Ange may well have planned to remove Sonny on 55 minutes but I just wish he would have discussed it with Sonny because he looked as shocked as I was, probably more so. COYS!!! 🙋‍♂

Why should he discuss it with him? Players do what they are told, sonny was upset like any other player would be and that's fine he will get over it and I'm sure put in a shift in the next game

Hey guys this segment was irritating when we tried to create coronation street with the Son issue. Ange is our "Manager" he said clearly ..post interview...there was no way Son was going to play more than 55 minutes. Thats a Father making the decision to protect his son. Ange is building a fckn exciting ..dynamic ..young "Team.".... not a. fckn ego pit.He doesn't need to explain himself to anybody. Son...was disappointed yeah right! Ange was reading the game.. moving the chess pieces. Do you fly by night ..one night standers understand that a team is exactly that...fck your personal feelings ..and play and embrace the collective goal...no pun intended...

He was injured before, Ange said to the press after the game that Sonny was never going to play more then what he did (probably what the medical team told him) so It's not weird. Son's reaction was weird but maybe Ange didn' tell him before the game that he was gonna get substituted to not affect his performance.

The main problem I have with the Son substitution from Ange is, if it was preplanned and happening no matter what at 60 minutes like he claimed, it shows he doesn't sub mid game tactically on how the game flow is actually going rather just acting on plan and not adjusting. For example, IF the game was 3-4 Aston Villa winning and Sonny was the one who scored 2 goals and 1 assist for spurs and the way the game was going, Son was the hub for all things goal related, why would you take the center focal for all things goals related just because of your initial pregame plan verse adjusting to how the actual game is flowing. I don't know it just doesn't make sense the substitution especially after his assist that got the team going + there were 2 occasions where he just outplayed Villa players on the ball technically and just looked dangerous.

The reason he didn't say anything wasn't because of tactics, but because he wanted to prevent Sonny's injury from recurring, and because he knew Sonny's personality. If he had told Sony in advance, he would have played as long as he did against West Ham without thinking about the injury until he was substituted. But Sony didn't know that and played loosely in the first half to the point where it felt like he was wary of injury. The director said that. Sony was scheduled to play only 55 minutes, but like the West Ham game, the injury recurred after playing for more than 60 minutes. The coach thought about this and replaced him in the 55th minute of the first half. And the coach said that there were still a lot of games left and that Sonny was an essential player, so the coach needed to manage him. And when the coach heard Sonny's reaction from the reporter, he smiled and said that he had never seen Sonny's reaction before, and that he would not like a player to suddenly be eliminated after doing well.

I don’t think he is strictly following his plan.i believe he meant he intended to sub but wants to keep the game flow open and wait and see.if BJ hasn’t levelled,he may have kept him on.anyway the game was won. he can do whatever he wants as he is the boss

Even I was shocked and felt Spurs would get out of attacking options and play maker when Sonny was taken out, even was unsure if Spurs would lose the game. Fortunately everything went well, else Ange would have been boiled with depressing comments by everyone for taking out Sonny and putting up poor tactics.. If you trying to save someone’s legs by telling them they have a limited time to play is dangerous as that player will push himself further than normal because they want to make an impact on the game before their time is up. With that said, do y’all really think son would’ve crossed that ball?👀🤣

(conclusion) When a player is substituted despite being able to play, it is right to look at the chair and get angry. A player who looks at the coach and gets angry is the problem. Sonny looks at the chair and gets angry - as a player, he's great and normal. Some players get angry when they see their coaches and teammates and throw water bottles at their teammates and coaches - as players, they are selfish and this is the problem.

It wasn’t discussed cos they monitor during the match & prob saw something in the monitor he was wearing which said he was up to the point where they wanted him off. - also he was extra pisses cos he invited his friends to watch & to me, him being from an Asian background, was pissed cos he somewhat lost face in front of his friends. Also - he’s never discussed with any player eg. Bentancur being pissed he got taken off when he was playing well. If you think all managers should discuss with players… then you should realise that if players know they have a certain amount of time, they end up pushing themselves harder & act more rashly trying to make an impact & then injure themselves.

Have to be honest. Plrs showing how upset they r f gettin subbed always is a horrible look. By starting, they already r the preferred choice n if the sub bottles it everyone is gonna get on the mngrs back about the bad/wrong tactical substitution. And if the sub does well ur gonna look foolish. Most of all, it reveals how little u truly think about ur teammate to come in w fresh legs n be able to have n impact… The RIGHT way to react is what Rodrigo did under Conte. Come back next match n be one of the best mfs in the league for the rest of the season. It was impossible to take him off because how hard he fought for 110 mins in each n every gme. It only reveals petulance in a player. Remember Robben making a fuss when Van Gaal took him off.

It obviously wasn't planned. At least if planned, Poste didn't connect it to Son. Son's gesture and frustration speaks about it. Now, in my own opinion, it is good sign that we managed to flip it around to win it without Son adding 3 more goals in second half. Don't get me wrong all you Son fans. I'm all for the team. We know we can't stop the time unfortunately. Everyone ages and with Son to turn 33 next year, we know time is nearing although we all in one mind wish him longer career. We need to find someone to replace our captain's spot. Spurs are not one, two season planners. Spurs have to look forward decades and centuries to come. COYS!!
