Props to Steve-O's dad for having the emotional intelligence to make that decision and do what was best to get him help. I think a lot of people would've been there just to have some kind of sense of control over the situation, like a panic of "I need to be there so I can fix things for my child" with, absolutely, the best intentions...but zero basis in reality.

Very business smart. But people are smart in different ways and wired differently. As you can see this man STILL does not truly understand really anything about addiction, going to al anon for a year and still not understanding it or getting anything out of it, wife and only son BOTH severely struggled with addiction. I do feel bad for him this is a man that probably spent 90% of the time at work or out of town barely getting to know his own family. Clearly is a good man though

Steve-O, your story of sobriety sparked my own path years ago. Whenever I'm feeling down or tempted or defeated I always think of your story, or watch a video of you talking about your sobriety. Just seeing you looking healthy and happy helps me to stay straight. I grew up watching Jackass and Wildboyz, those shows got me through other tough times in my life. You've helped a lot of people that you don't even know and I hope that you can take some pride in that fact.

Brilliant. To this day, I can’t tell other people about what Knoxville did for Steve’o without getting choked up, which says so much about how emotional and incredibly miraculous it was. Steve’o’s dad going to Al-Anon and realizing why it is important and helpful, is pure gold. I too attended Al-anon meetings, believing I was doing it for the alcoholic in my life but his dad found, turned out *and same;someone in the meeting said something so profound…the meetings were lifesaving for me. This is so wonderful. Thank You!!!! Sending love guys! You are awesome!

You’ve gotta understand, Steve Os dad wasn’t around for much of Steve’s life. He was always traveling and working away from home, then you know, he divorced Steve’s mom because she was an alcoholic and married someone else. Steve had a lot of resentment for that. I think Steve’s dad would have possibly made the situation worse by going to the intervention. We assume that parents are assholes for not trying to help their kids in times like these, but we don’t really look at the relationship the parents have. Maybe the intervention wouldn’t have had been so successful? Maybe SteveO wouldn’t have become sober and maybe he would of went through with killing himself.

There is nothing he can say to you that you don't already know. Weakness and submission to addiction is the reason 99% of people wont achieve anything of major substance. I'm 20 and dont drink or take hard drugs but I smoke pot very regularly and I acknowledge it has a strong grip on my routine. But I also know that the only way out comes from within and I'm sure you know that too. Until you want to repair your body and brain, you will have to live with your weakness and grow to accept that your life is nothing except a timeline of physical deterioration and inferiority to your own impulse.
