In my opinion Mitsubishi always seem to not take the automotive part of their businesses serious, it comes across as a hobby they pick up and put aside from time to time. Even in the rally game they were messing around. Subaru had way more cars entered in rally than Mitsubishi and obviously that increased Subaru's chances of winning more. Why didn't Mitsubishi put more cars as well. Again it comes across as something they just entered to try out. Even the galant vr4 was never marketed properly but the word spread and they ended up being forced by Mitsubishi inthusiasts to produce more cars after all the success they had in rally.

The main company has never seen the Auto section but just a side project and mainly allow so as to test out and prove their technology to sell to other car manufactory. Jason Edwards you are missing the point, mitsubishi is a technology driven and innovative company ... they create/ invent and prove their technology...its a massive company not a automotive company.... auto division is a small aspect that test their technoly n then sell to other car manufactory hence in the past you had DSM line of car that are all basically mitsubishi's .The evo wasnt a promoted car it was mainly build for rally sport. They only made enough production car to qualify to compete not the reverse of dem making the evos and enter rally to prove to sell cars. Its the popularity n demand of the car in Europe why the parent company even decided to produce evo,s. Subaru using evo 3 as a benchmark. Doesnt imply that motsubishi was serious. It may prove that they are a great company and capable of producing a dam good 4wd system and this is the key point it was done at a low cost when compare to other company technology... .. to set out to acheive get so much horse power out of a 2liter engine was a great accomplishment in it self. .... just like samsung has been all these years a technolgy driven company supply so many phone manufactory with its technologies yet where manuafcatoring phones... they were just focusing on the phone technology n not phone manufacturing..... they might hve made phone for other companies but didn't enter the phone manufactoring till recent time. EXACTLY!!! I'm glad to hear that other people realized this! I go to ice racing events in my evo X FE and the STI guys are like "are those two piece rotors stock? The battery is in the trunk? Front mount intercooler stock? You make 330AWHP with nothing more than an intake and a tune?" These guys consider themselves car guys and know nothing about the Evo. One was bragging about making 308AWHP for over a year before his boxer engine went. It is so mitsubishi to make such a great car and forget to tell anyone about it!

I had an EVO X and it was unbelievable, much better than the WRX or STI I had, but it needed a 6th gear! No matter how hard you try to ignore the 4000 RPM interstate cruise it gets old. And I don’t want to spend a ton for a dual clutch auto. If they had they same progression that Subaru had done with the WRX and STI I think they would have done better.

The entire Mitsubishi Evolution & Ralliart Marketing Team should have been fired over a decade ago. I’m glad I watched this, I live in Australia and always thought that maybe we just missed out on all the Evo/Ralliart Advertising & Marketing. It seems their entire team didn’t do shit to actually TRY and help these perfect automotive machines to get a following, to make it work! As soon as I heard that Mitsubishi were discontinuing them, I literally ran out and bought my 2015 Ralliart and I am sooooo glad I did. I was able to buy it and drive it off the lot with 13kms on the Odometer. And even now, 3 years later, I still get a thrill and fit of giggles every time I flick over to Sport & let my baby do what he was created to do. The brochure said “Exhilaration Everyday” and that’s exactly what it is!

I had an Evo VIII for 10 years. I modified it to 400whp (same as 2003-2007 corvette). However, everywhere I went some 18-25 yr old kid would come running up to me asking me, "What have you done to it?" I always found that question to be annoying. I started to notice that drivers of the Evo are kids and it was time for me to grow up. I sold the Evo and bought a Corvette.

Mitsubishi is only interested in makings Crossover SUV's now, they have changed there focus big time. They basically just allowed the Evo, and then the regular Lancer run its course without any updates for nearly a decade before they discontinued the regular Lancer aswell.... They technically have one sedan now, they made the Mirage there small economy car, with a sedan version rather then just a hatchback as it was originally. That's basically the replacement for the regular Lancer, and I feel the Evo is likely dead forever with the direction they have gone.

I'm a technician for mitsu and own a evo x, one of the engineers I know told me they have plans for ta future sports car. It will be a turbo four door but he doesn't know if it wil be a new evo or something different. But he assured me nissan and Renault have big plans for mitsu since they bought 30 percent of the company.

Definitely agree with the reasoning here. Until I came to Maine, I never saw an evo. Now, I have seen 2 - TWO! WRX's all over the place. Not much marketing going on here. I was never much of a fan, prefer the wrx, but I admit stock for stock, the evo 10 suspension is almost impossible to beat. Definitely better than Subaru stock. Subaru may intentionally design understeer into their cars, but that doesn't make it ok. At least I can change that with sway bars, etc.

The guy that designed the first DSM to EVO ten retired. He was a freelance designer and worked with many manufacturers. Also the reason why Ford just cut there sedans from the market. The guy created the Saturn line at GM and kept Pontiac going since the 80's. With many of his GM products still going down the line today. Ever wonder why Vtec and Vortec, Ecoboost and Ecotec sound so similar? Why do certain designs look so similar from many different car companies? Why did all those retro muscle cars come back within a few years of each other? The answer is simple...one guy! He designed super cars and grocery getters, fighter jets and passenger jets. Over a hundred vehicles in his lifetime and now is retired. Now back to the Mitsubishi subject. There was a few new engine designs over the years that could of been for a next gen EVO, but the company was soo greedy. So the plans are just collecting dust or partly being used in another project like the BMW Supra engine. Certain engine plans of his will never be made, including an inline 6 cylinder NA that had a high revving nature. An inline turbo 4 with certain valve and turbo technologies. A hybrid AWD rotary engine using the 16x that he designed and three electric motors with a bunch of innovations that Mazda does not have. Yada, yada, yada...shoulda, woulda, coulda... I'm glad it's over just like this post!

New cars are now becoming too expensive to purchase, a base model "2019 Subaru WRX STi" is going for MSRP of $36,595, the younger generation is smart & not buying new cars because its a scam, you take a huge deprecation driving it off the lot..... well I guess marketing is a big part of selling cars but honestly, if you're a car guy you would know what an evo is and whether or not you wanted it. So I don't think sales for an evo were bad because they didn't pimp it out in ads. If someone wanted a performance car that means they know what the options there are out there. For the everyday person wanting something just for family or a commuter, they wouldn't get an evo in the first place as it being brand new is in the price range of getting something luxurious and an evo is far from luxury.

Another big reason why they stopped (in my opinion) Was their lower spec option was NOTHING LIKE THE EVO! if they were to at least turbo the Lancer when they first brought over the Evo in the US market, the EVO would still be around to this day. Now the regular Lancer is gone as well..... Back in 2017, I was at my local Mitsubishi dealer, and they got there hands on a brand new 2015 Evo, 2 year old car, but still new.... My guess it was at a different dealer that clearly wasn't able to unload it for 2 years. Not sure when it sold, all I know is the Evo is no longer there, so someone in my area got it! Back in 2014, I wanted to buy my first brand new car! I wanted a Lancer (Don't got Evo money) annoyingly my budget could only fit me into a base model Lancer realistically. I also only knew how to drive automatic then, and they had no base models with automatic, standard.... the salesman was willing to teach me to get me out the door with it. But be damn if I invest that kinda money into something and decide manual wasn't for me. So in my limited budget I looked at small hatch backs, came down between a 2014 Ford Fiesta, or the 2014 Mitsubishi Mirage. The Mirage was cheaper, and I admired its simplicity (ignoring the CVT) So I went with that. Back in fall of 07, I finally got my hands on a Lancer, 2008 mid level trim, purchased AS-IS/As-traded from the local dealer for the price they paid for it, plus taxes. Fixed it very cheap thanks to help from friends (welded rear sub frame) and its my daily driver. (My gf claimed the Mirage as her car 6 months after I got it) Now my goal is to do everything I can to my Lancer to upgrade it..... (on a budget)

The Evo didn't fail in the market.. They failed the Evo with poor marketing. I think they should have focused more on the Evo and not the POS cars they have now. Have you seen their line up? Wtf is wrong with you Mitsubishi?

Because Mitsubishi lost their balls and use the Q bathroom now. They dug their own grave. I own a RUNNING 94 Eclipse GSX. These cars is what made them appealing and irrelevant. Seams like they just gave up.
