I know it’s been 3 years since this video got posted, but OP did you ever fixed this and confirmed it’s a bad tob? Thanks.
@williamsportwrestler3 жыл бұрын
Just the nature of the beast. I put a clutch in it, had the transmission rebuilt by Shep. Nothing fixed it, the car is still going strong.
@donpolix3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your prompt response. But I’m confused though :). You’re saying that sound was never fixed and there was no issue with your throw out bearing? And even with you replacing the clutch you stilk had that rattling sound? Sorry to bug you, I have the same dilemma and can’t find the root cause. Trying my best to identify where it’s coming from and I suspect mine also might be tob but before I take the tranny down (it’s a big job for me) I wanna be able to pinpoint exactly what it is.
@williamsportwrestler3 жыл бұрын
@@donpolix yeah I never fixed it. When I called Shep transmission after re-installing the transmission because the noise was still there, they informed me it was probably harmonics caused by the clutch. I've since heard the same noise on several other cars and determined it was annoying, but not an actual issue.

Good to know. I got an Evo 6 GSR and I get this noise after driving the car a distance. My mechanic who is quite knowledgeable (was a junior mechanic on the ralliart team in the 90s) says it’s common and the only way to really fix said issue is to take apart everything from the engine to the transmission and look for said problem. But it’s not ab issue other than being annoying.

Hi, mine is making the same noise, it goes away when I press the clutch too. Have you managed to fix it? What did you replace?

Electric just doesn't have the sound and feel of an engine
@BOOT4 жыл бұрын
The traction control is a big part of it as well. I mean it's electric/computer controlled entirely and they know with all that torque they can't have people spinning-out right n left or lawsuits. I've been street racing/spectating for a long time and I've beat on the street cars that I'd never beat on a well prepped race track, it's all bout car set up. The 2nd part is a lot of of street racing spots don't run the full 1/4, so the launch is a big deal on the street. I've jumped & beat awd turbo cars with my 1977 Corvette

I own a 1999 Honda Civic EX and doing this right now. This video helps a lot. I didn't think of pulling the seal as I went along that much.. also wasn't sure if I had it on the right way. It matches what you got after you put the new seal in. Thanks for posting this video! It really helped.
