Working at a store environment of any kind is absolutely conducive to overspending. I worked many retail jobs and the exposure effect is very real - some of our most frequent customers were fellow coworkers.

I’ve changed my shopping habits entirely. No fast fashion. Better materials for longevity. I wait for at least 2 weeks before actually buying. I read the reviews and do my own research on that item. I check the garment for fabric details, strong quality seams, secure buttons, double sewn button holes etc. I’m totally over filling up bags for donations or the landfill.

Side note: I'm doing a "quality buy" year - handmaking things or buying things that are actually quality and that will last. My husband and I are about to close on a home and I don't want to just fill it with cheap crappy stuff. I'm honestly so excited.

I'm happy that there has been a shift from overconsumption to "underconsumption" - though I hate that term. I've been project panning and I'm doing a no buy this year ultimately because I have so many things I love but I don't get to use it equally
@maddykellogg14 күн бұрын
@@beyond.the.mirror. yeah I’ve seen a lot of people get annoyed at how far people take their underconsumption (like just using things that are falling apart). Omg hello fellow Nashvillian! I’m also doing a no/low buy this year! Specifically, I’m capping myself at 12 new garments this year, no new skincare or hair care (replacing empty necessities only), and cutting myself off entirely from Amazon.
