A class A is "queen of the campground". A super C is "king of the road". It really, really depends on your needs and wants. If you prioritize comfort when you're driving and parked over the quality of the drive getting there, then the class A is the way to go. If you spend a lot of time on the road and prioritize the drive, where comfort and amenities are a close second thought, then the super C is the one you should look at. Super C is more of a visceral driving experience, while the class A is more of a luxury experience.

We’ve had fifth wheels, gas class A and now a super C. I absolutely love driving the super c. All of the things Izzy mentioned concerning safety, drivability, etc. Driving our class was exhausting. I think a lot of it depends on where you’re driving these vehicles too. we drive in Arkansas and Southwest Missouri a lot. Highways with no shoulders lots of hills and curves. The class A was horrible on those roads. I take drivability and sense of security over a little extra basement space any day.

Also, If you put a brush guard on a Super C and you hit a deer, you are still rolling down the highway. Try that with an A class, your RV is in the shop for quite a while.

For the past four years we have been in a 2021 Renegade Verona VRB, on the M2 106 chassis. This week we took delivery of our new 2025 Renegade Explorer on the Cascadia 116 chassis. No comparison in ride, drive and overall comfort. This is a 40 ft coach with 525 HSP and 1850 ft lbs of torque. Do not buy until you have seen and driven this coach! Wow!

Super C all the way! I've never owned a motorhome, but have been on trips with others. One time headed to Daytona bike week in my bud's class A. Front hub spun off the axle. Took over an hour just to find someone willing to tow the motorhome. Then had heck of time trying to find hook up points underneath. After that it took a week to fix. Yes, we were not on their schedule, but mostly because of the type of chassis. Was an industry RV only chassis, with RV only parts. Not like anything normally in stock. My bud ended finding most of the parts via RV sites and chat rooms. Plus, we had to stay in a hotel as the vehicle was locked up in their garage. That week alone was enough for me to never look at a class A. Love the Cascadia chassis. Towing, parts, and mechanics everywhere and anywhere.

We previously had a Class A, so we have lived with both. We currently have a 2020 ShowHauler brand Super C with a full Class 8 Freightliner Cascadia truck and frame. We love it. We put a lot of miles on it (80,000 so far) and it's such an awesome driving machine. Just the serviceability alone makes it so convenient. We can pull into any truck stop service garage for a routine maintenance or to sort out an issue that occurs on the road. All the construction materials, floor, cabinets, etc are very durable because there's less concern about weight. The folks over at ShowHauler provide awesome service after the sale also. That's my two cents.

I'm still leaning towards a Super C 1. Because of safety for the driver 2. If you have to get maintenance while on the road it's easier and more convenient 3. Several people have described driving a Class A is like driving a boat on land lol But yes, test driving is a must We just don't have any dealerships close to us that sell them so it will have to be a road trip and a several day stay for us to choose

If you are ok with the upfront cost, I’d go with a diesel pusher class A. Lots of floor plans to choose from and quiet ride. I’ve had many different rigs and I have to say that my class A was the best.

I currently have a Class A diesel pusher and am actively looking to switch to a Super C. One of my main reasons is that I prefer the engine in the front for safety reasons, as well as the simplicity of being able to get engine service done at almost any truck shop. Secondly, with the ever-growing number of grandkids, I can get bunks as well as sleeping over the cab. Thirdly, we tow an enclosed trailer, and I feel the Super C has a better tow rating. Fourthly, I prefer the firmer feel of the front end of the Super C and the fact that it feels more planted on the road compared to a Class A. However, there are some things we don't like about the Super C, such as the limited floor plans available, especially the lack of kitchen counter space. I do a lot of cooking for groups of friends on our trips and need all the kitchen counter space I can get. Additionally, as you mentioned, the storage space underneath is limited.

Thanks, another great video! My wife and I bought our first RV earlier this year to see if the RV life was right for us. We bought a Renegade Verona Super C for all of the reasons you mention in your video and overall we’ve been very happy with our Verona. We’ve been on the road since the beginning of May and have decided we love the RV life and plan on spending 4-6 months of the year living in our RV for the foreseeable future. Since we are spending so much time in it we would really like more living space and because of that we’ve started looking at Class A’s, which is an obvious benefit of a Class A. However, the thing I was most amazed about with the Class A’s that I test drove was the ride! I’m not sure what I’m missing but I test drove a Newmar Mountain Aire and Dutch Star and was blown away by the difference in the ride vs a Super C. They floated over bumps in the road, they were sooo quiet and the view from the window is amazing! I can’t say I noticed a big difference in stability but I only did a short test drive. I do like the way our Verona drives but it is loud and you feel every bump in the road. Another factor we like about the MA and DS was how quiet it is inside with A/C units running. Maybe Newmar runs the A/C duct work the same way in their super C’s but our A/C’s are very loud. Anyway, I’ll stay tune with your search and love hearing what everyone has to say.

We are on the process of purchasing our "retirement" home now. It is a Dynamax DX3 Super C. We like the safety of the engine up front. Our comment about clas is A's is we didn't want to be first to the accident 😅. Safety of the truck cab is our main plus. Cost and other considerations are also part of it. We plan to travel a lot, so wanted an RV that was meant to be driven. It all comes down to what your plans are, what you can afford, and what your pros and cons are.

We have a new Newmar Super C and love it. We traded in a Dutch Star. We agree with your comments. A challenge for Super Cs you didn’t mention is that they have a larger turning radius. That takes some getting used to. The Super C is much easier to drive particularly for staying centered in your lane. It is more like driving your pickup truck. Good video!

Thanks so much for sharing your pros and cons. I’m still very much waffling between a Super C and an A after over a year of research. Part of my problem is that I haven’t had a chance to drive either one. I’ll be brand new to RVing and I’ve been retired for a few years. I’d be fairly comfortable testing out a Super C. I don’t even know about driving a Class A and if I don’t know I doubt any dealership would want me to learn on their dime. Sigh. I had one friend that had an RV when I was in my 30s but I know no one who could let me test drive their rig in a big parking lot. I live just south of Houston so perhaps I should take lessons somewhere but don’t you need to have your rig beforehand? Ah well, it will all work out. Meanwhile, I’m watching, listening and learning. Keep it up and thank you!

The first thing we will consider when we buy our next motorhome is SERVICE. We have a Sprinter-based diesel class C MH. Getting good service for the camper parts is the industry's big problem. Servicing the chassis at our local Mercedes dealer is easy. You should see if the drive is an acceptable trade-off for better service.

I loved this video and love watching you both. I wound up buying an InTech Terra Willow largely because of you. While I really like it, I would rather have found that I would prefer a drivable because of the convenience. I am heavily leaning towards Renegade because of the advantages you listed in your video. I think they offer the best value in my price range which is $200k to $300k. I would love a Show Hauler but too much for me. I will be really watching any videos you have on this topic as maybe I will be drawn to class A like you. There are some good options but I keep going back to service issue more than anything. I think it will be much better with a class c as we plan on traveling a lot. I’m fearful of breaking down and having a hard time finding someone to service the RV.

I drove big trucks over 5 million miles in my career. For the last 10 years or so they were Cascadias, and over time I grew to love them. Is it a Pete? No. But it's more ergonomic, comfortable, rides better, handles better in most ways, and gets excellent fuel economy. They are reliable, and will beat out the Volvos, the Pro Stars, and the Pete's for ease of use, over time. So, if you go with a Super C (I would!), get the full size Cascadia. You'll be happier with it overall and in every way, especially when it comes to reliability, service, and repair, as well as all the other stuff. For the best overall cost of ownership and time management, too. Have more fun and less hassle. Get the big Detroit, and it will be the last dime you ever need or want to spend on another choice. Better than any bus, too, especially in any kind of emergency. You'll be happier with it than any Class A, regardless of price. Period. There is no greater luxury than more time to relax and not worry.

Hello Izzy. Love ur passion that both of you have for rving. My wife and beat it death when we make rv decisions. I agree a Class A has more room and storage. But you had pros and cons in your analysis which is true. But we had a 2022 Renegade Verona 40 VRB. After a year and half and 13K miles I kept looking at the Reegade Explorer 40ERB. Many different ones hold said there was no comparison to the Verona vocational chassis compared to the over the road chassis Cascadia. Well let me tell you they were not wrong. It is a much better driving experience and has much less leaning. We now have over 10K in miles since our purchase in November from Performance Motor Coach in Wolforth, TX. Darin Benton is the owner as does many KZbin videos of these type of units. Please take the time to drive one. A true semi truck.

We had a SuperStar 4081, brand new. The floor plan was great, etc. Ours was really noisy in the front of the cab. You lose 10ft of living space with the engine in the front. The turning radius was terrible. The so called captains chairs in the front will take an hour to turn around etc...Going with a Dutchstar so much better!

As a driver I've seen too many accidents with rv's especially ones like class a that fell apart in serious accidents. I've seen class a with only the 2 captain chairs left on the frame. The rest of the rv was disintegrated into pieces. The safety of the metal cab of the super c in a serious accident outweighs the loss of space. If you are talking about a family I would consider a used bus conversion/prevost to take my family in. They have early 2000 prevost for under 200k.

Great discussion and on-point. Like Javabean said below - class A is "queen of the campground" and a super C is "king of the road". I have owned a custom built Kenworth Super C for 12 years now and been all over the country in it and one can tell its made for driving. Eight-hour highway days are pretty easy. And we have done lots of driving to and from race tracks with a focus on getting there, doing our thing and getting home to go back to work. Now the working days are winding down (retirement) and our new class A is the luxury we are looking for as we spend more time at our locations and less time racing down the highway to get there and back...but I still long for the 600HP. I think all of the points you made in the video are valid and it will come down to performance vs luxury with a lot of influence coming from the available finances. How much does one have to spend to get a class A that performs like a super C (Newel/Prevost) and how much to get a super C as luxurious as a Class A (1492 and others). I'm not sure the super C will every match the luxury of the super high-end coaches. And the gap between the high-end Class A and the Bus outfitters with chassis dynamics and luxury fits and finishes seems to be shrinking too... Either way - its all really fun!

As long as I have been looking for the right one as soon as I saw the Super C I knew it was going to provide everything I needed. Safety is paramount especially post covid as people are driving far more aggressively and it’s getting worse. The only thing that has stopped me in my tracks is the likelihood that all RVS will require new engines to meet the upcoming changes to motor emissions. Until we know what the future is going to be the likely loss is potentially unaffordable for most people. Older models that are not selling but have low mileage are potentially going to hang on to some of their value but newer models will rocket in price. What are your thoughts? Be safe please ♥️🤍💙

I've been doing it since 1970, when I was 18. That is when I bought a very used tent pop-up. 8) I had one of the first crew cab Chevy's (They called it a 3+3), with a 13 foot truck camper. That truck, w/camper and trailer w/6 racing snowmobiles, had a 454 V8 w/auto and got 3 mpg!! (5:13/10 bolt rear) CL_A, B, C in years after that. The CL_A is nice, and the most luxury. But, and you know this, 54 years experience tells me there are going to be bugs!! Question is, how many, what kind? If your going to hop campground to campground, maybe the A works for you. Maine, Key West, Texas, Mexico, Alaska, Mid West, I want a driver, capable of covering a lot of miles with no issues. That tells me Pete, Volvo, Freightliner etc. CL_Super_C. Front bumper to back of cab, and under to rear of axle is commercial truck quality, proven mile eater. 8) I don't want to be broken down on the Al-Can highway with a .50 cal in my lap looking for bear at 3am. LOL Motor in the rear, controls in the front = gremlins. Everyone has an opinion. Just take your time, consider everything. Drive them. Check reviews from owners. Good luck, have fun!! 8) --gary PS: If you do go up the Al-Can, a cattle guard on the front is a good idea! Deer, moose, bear make a mess of the front!! 8)

I do not have a motor home now. Been doing a ton of research for the past couple years. I originally wanted a class 'A' because of the luxury until I learned about all the maintenance costs. The second is serviceability. You can take a class 'C' to any truck repair shop. But only dealers will service class 'A'. The third thing is length of life. Super 'C' chassis are built on time proven freight haulers. Class 'A' are strong, but at a premium price. I'd rather start with a known chassis than one dreamed up in a factory. I have seen so many horror stories about 5th wheels and other towables to take them out of any competition. If I get to the point where I uproot and move to a vagabond lifestyle, then I want something that will last.

Another con for the Super C is that you can’t get into all the luxury resorts, as so many are Class A only. Not that I need that kind of luxury all the time, but in retirement, I would like the option of staying where I want to stay. Outside of that, the Super C is probably my preference.

We have a trailer now, but inspired by your videos and reviews of various Super C's and Class A's we actually went to look at some (mostly for entertainment as we are decades away from retirement). I was really surprised how difficult it was to get into and out of some of these RVs. We saw some Class A's where the only door into the RV was through the passenger side, there was a platform you could put down once you were inside, but each time you wanted in or out of the RV you had to remove the platform to exit. The steps were so steep and so high with no railings or handlebars. I have a disability so this was a no-go for me, but we only saw a limited amount of RVs at our local RV dealership and if we were ever serious we would do more research. I am looking forward to seeing your reviews of the other brands out there. I'm excited for your new adventures and wish you the best.

Great video, MJ and Izzy. Not a simple decision to make, but you guys are certainly going about it the right way, there are a lot of things to consider, a lot of plusses and minuses with each type of RV. For example, our first RV was a 5th wheel. On paper it sounded great, it seemed like it would work well for us. As we used it, not so much. Some features that seemed like a good idea actually turned out to be an annoyance! And the build quality was very disappointing. I've never driven a Prevost, but I'm guessing if and when you do, it is likely to be a game changer! Looking forward to hearing of your decision and your many adventures in retirement!

We are looking at getting a super C but we want it on a Ford chassis with the 6.7. Right now it's down to either Thor or Jayco. Thor is a better quality build, but Jayco is less expensive. Probably going to wait until Hershey to pull the trigger!

Super C hands down, safety is more important than big window. Wife had rear end collision last year and is now very scared of that big window. But our unit is 2 years old and we lost 70,000 of equity driving it off the lot now cannot trade to get a Super C ourselves

I might suggest ( and you already may have) try the larger Renegade series like Explorer or Classic. I am thinking these in their series are more of a true Super-C truck-style vs the Verona and Valencia. (BTW...love the channel and you both do a great job sharing with the readers... Keep it up!.... BobR over and out)

Izzy my friend. I would suggest you drive a Prevost conversion if you like the driving experience. We have had other diesel pusher’s and our Liberty/Prevost is the best over the road experience I’ve had behind the wheel. Seriously. Drive the real highway bus chassis before you buy anything.

One thing nobody’s comparing is washing the front end of a super C versus a class A My first super C had the big bunk over the cab, what a pain to wash and dry. Our new super C has the aero cap, no bunk, still a chore compared to a class A,

I have not driven the SuperStar or the SupremeAir, but both still retain the air cab, one of very few super C's in the industry that still retain the airbags of the cab (super C manufactures delete the air bags and use blocks to support the cab. I'm surprised the ride quality was not good or better then the rest even through it's still a straight axle.

Next time you’re in Florida swing by “The Motorcoach Store” and test drive some his used Prevost and Newell’s. Gives you a much safer body and still get all the luxury and storage space. Also, with “Retro Band from NIRVC, you will be safe. Brad would love to have you there!

He sells high end, very well maintained RVs (which you probably know), you could test drive a Prevost conversion and a Newell! Think of the content!! 😜😊🤷‍♂️

I’ll be happy with whatever you both decide to get. I like Super Cs because they look nice and seem comfortable. I like class As too and fifth wheels. But I know one day you’ll find the right Rv for you! I know I will too one day. I’m counting on you for finding the right Rv. I can’t wait to see you with it one day. Love you both even though you don’t want a Super C anymore. Lol! 😀

You are obviously doing your research and your decision will not be impulsive. Keep doing the pros and cons. When you finally make your decision, own it and don't let the naysayers get you down. It is a lot about preference. Personally, I like the C over the A. With the C, I feel like I am hauling my house around with me. With the A, I feel like I live in my car since I get in and out from the cockpit. If you only drive once a week, but live in it every day, that can make a difference. Perhaps you put a little TLC into your current rig and see what you feel like when you go to "most timer". I also like the C with a over cab bed for the non-paying guests, so you do not have to give up your living room for them to sleep. Sure, you can get a DP with a drop-down bed, but that blocks your entry/exit. I would not want to be in that situation in an emergency, nor do I want to wake up my visiting friend/family that is resting in a drop-down bunk so I can do the early morning walk or take the dog out.

Following. It will be interesting to see what you choose when the reality of overall cost of ownership is applied, particularly up-front price and maintenance. Something I haven’t seen in your analysis thus far. Notwithstanding trust-fund babies, we all have champagne tastes with beer checkbooks, especially when it comes to non-essential, depreciating assets. We’ve owned 4 class A diesel pushers prior to our Super C. As of now, I do not see a path back to an A for us. Going either way in diesel world is a huge investment. You are certainly doing your due-diligence. Good luck in whatever you choose. Just enjoy the lifestyle!😎

Have you experienced a Super C’s that had issues with porpoising? I’d really like to experience the ride difference of S2 vs M2 chassis in an RV. I drove 26’ box trucks for a few years on various chassis and man the ride on some were horrible with the porpoising. I’m sure some of that was related to weight distribution, but hopefully it’s not as big an issue in RV’s.

Prevost bus / motorhome are built for the long-haul and quick maintenance. (example engine can come out on built in rollers and 45 minutes for rebuild or service) the rig is designed to be serviced easily. One big factor is will not rust out 10 years down the road like all the rest because it has a stainless steel frame. Wish I had gotten a used Prevost H45 20 years ago and got it over with.

I drive a bus for my local transit authority. I was recently involved in a head on collision with a drunk driver who crossed the center line at about 50 mph (I was doing 35 mph). Of course there was injuries (myself included) but me and my 12 passengers all walked off my bus. Bus conversions are very safe due to the construction techniques used in manufacture. My dream coach would have to be a Prevost H3-45. Most class A’s disintegrate in accidents, though beautiful on the showroom floor, flopped on their side in an accident they are reduced to a pile of plywood. All this with catastrophic consequences for passengers. A Prevost is built to go millions of miles where mass produced motor homes have a very limited shelf life. I’ve heard you should buy your last coach first. I’ve also heard a 10 year old Prevost is a better value than most production motor homes. You need to step it up and take a bus for a ride!

You are not comparing apples to apples. A Renegade cascasia DD16 is not a comparison to any class A. The M2 is like a gas puller. We had them all. A 16 liter up front has cushion, 3 doors, more head room and way more space. The class A has more “bling” that breaks in the long run. When call driving a true super c is more stable. The storage is not that big of a deal. If you need that more storage, which we never do , in 20 years, get a stacker trailer. Safety, safety and price guys.

Sorry Guys, no matter the benefits, which you pay for in As, I like the Super Cs cause they are more down to earth. whenever i meet class A people they rarely are mobile, they just sit there for a long time, and gloat over there utopia it seems. Ill take the C were i can camp with nature or even on the sand at Corpus or dunes in Oregon. where men are men and women are glad of it. If i ever got temped to buy and A, ill just buy lake or water property somewhere and build, get a gulf cart to get me to da beach or tennis court.

Interesting video and feedback. We've (@WingingIt.Fulltime) have been FT for over 8 yrs approaching 9. We started in a 2007 Monaco Dynasty 40' with tag axle and all the luxurious with only 17K miles. FFWD past (3) 5th wheels (mid to high end) and an Airstream Classic 28' we ended up last summer in a 2022 Renegade Valencia 38' and another Jeep. Have done OR to FL and currently in AK (2nd time) and haven't had a single problem with it, zilch. Since we are 80% boondocks (west/SW us our primary hangout) we love the fact we can stay off-grid 2-3 weeks easily with the amazing large tanks ...and if course the solar and lithium. Can't comment on other brands but we love Renegade and the build quality is tops in our book...as well as the customer support and satisfaction. Yeah it's more like driving a truck...vs a class A but think the advantage easily outweigh the disadvantages. Oh we can tow 20K if needed.

I would never go with a Super C Reason #1 is living space. It just doesn’t compare to a Class A at the same length. A steerable tag in a 43 & 45 ft would have a better turning radius by far. My 43 ft gets into places my 40 ft non-tag couldn’t
