This was so good, Renee! I love the diversity in how different families manage their homes and family culture. Thank you for sharing this!

Me too! I love diversity of experience and culture, and this doesn't just mean ethnic or regional diversity, but also applies to micro-cultures (within the larger culture)

Thanks so much for taking the time to share this. While two of my kids are too young to fully implement something like this (my 15 year old is a pretty capable cook and often makes his own meals because of his various out of the home commitments), I would love to work towards some version of this as they get older. My diet is very different than the rest of my family's because it helps me manage a chronic illness and it is difficult to balance my needs with everyone else's preferences all the time. Food preferences and sharing the labor of meals has been a pretty constant source of tension in my marriage too (although we do our best) and I really appreciate your perspective of doing what works for your family even if it's unconventional!
