I'm glad you talked about this! I can be like Brandon where I turn a lot or have restless leg syndrome. I don't have a partner but it is something that worries me if I was to sleep in the same bed with them long term. I don't mind sleeping by myself but I would think partners like to be in the same bed. I don't want that to be a deterrent to our relationship.

I’m sure it won’t be a problem if you give them an option to sleep in different bedrooms if it disturbs them! I’m a light sleeper so if they are a deep sleeper they might not even notice! I would never consider it detrimental in a relationship, it isn’t something you can control, I’m sure most people feel the same way!

I think you were thinking of an elliptical! Wonderful cardio machines for people like me with knee and meniscus injuries. And yeah... I am on meds that make me twitch, talk in my semi-sleep, hell, have whole conversations! so can't imagine my non-existent partner dealing with that at all. I miss having someone to hold as I fall asleep, but then want to push them out of the bed because they are too hot and I need to roll around in my sleep. It's a conundrum.

Totally 👍 on the not sleeping together. My partner was appalled when I suggested this, “romance murderer” I was called, but I’m a twitcher and he’s a mumbler/snorer so getting up for work and not being wrecked was getting to be hellish. When we started the experiment my main problem was his unauthorised visits during the night so for a laugh I swapped my bed for a single, like camp-bed size, didn’t work but bizarrely stopped his mumbling and my twitching (probably cos I couldn’t feckin move). Got it to roughly 4 nights solo 3 share which seems to be working. I will allow some spontaneity, birthdays/xmas treats and the occasional reward for good behaviour.

@@coreyissmartlikedory no probs, wasn’t expecting a reply just sharing the experience😂. I’d also mention that vicious circle where you’re grumpy through lack of sleep which starts a squabble about being grumpy which makes you grumpier, go to work grumpy, then you feel bad which involves making up, end up in bed….and off we go again🤦‍♂️. I should say I’m no saint but last time I broke the rules I got chased out with a brush! (straight after …er..well y’know….).😱. Highly offensive but I guess that means it suits us both.

The last time I dated last year the first argument that came when he would stay the night was that I wanted to sleep separately but I said we can still cuddle but sleep for me is crucial but he didn't understand that

Sleep apnea can cause jerky movements because body does it to get you to breathe..can also lead to high blood pressure.

Not sleeping together? Might as well live in different houses. One of the most romantic things is to discuss life and the day before going to sleep and to cuddle someone in the night - that warm body next to you is the greatest pleasure in life. Twin beds are one thing for old couples, but separate rooms? That is not a relationship!

The elliptical machine is the thing you’re referring to, I believe. Your fist 2 minutes described my partner and his habits to a tee. The snoring and the moving hand…😀😀😀. We have been together 26 years . Sleep in separate beds because of the snoring ( I’m guilty of it too 🙂). But a good nights sleep is so vital as your u point out.
