Yay another vid 😎 I travelled a long way to a main dealer to pick up a car. I'd asked about rust and given its age, I wasn't expecting perfection, but it was an old car at a main dealer, so hoped it was a good example. How wrong was I, absolute rot box, door sills, rear wings etc I complained, they offered a tank of fuel.....😅 Deposit back and walked away in the general direction of the train station 🤣

My father owns an 'H' Reg 740 GLE which he has had from new. Gun Metal Grey metallic with the factory rear spoiler. Roof lining also sagging slightly in places but otherwise mint. Sorry to say wild horses wouldn't get him to part with it. Wish we'd had a little more footage of the car you had gone to see in this video as it would have been good to compare.

The old 940's have now achieved 'classic car' status, which unfortunately means that every worn out piece of tat is advertised as 'ripe for restoration'. I've owned loads of Volvos, including two 740 saloons, and I'd say leaving that on their driveway was the best decision. It was an early (F plate) 740 so it's nothing special and many are 'only a few owners from new', but they've spent the last decade or so being looked after on a shoestring budget.
