Paul that was fantastic, and one of the most inspirational talks I have seen, encouraging all of us in the bushcraft and survival community to wake up, lift our game and look at these social media platforms not as a negative thing (which I am guilty of) but as you put it, an opportunity to interact, educate and improve the overall standard and awareness of bushcraft globally....with correct and accurate content I might add! I have a lot to learn and a long, long way to go but will do my absolute best to hold myself to the high standard that you and other authorities set for all of us. Thank you Paul for your continued dedicated contribution to the worldwide Bushcraft community. Gordon Dedman

I sat and watched all of it,what I have noticed is self gratification for hits on youtube, and self emotional well being which serves only to perceive the misconception of self, emotions play into too many peoples lives, passing on knowledge is key to everything, the money side of things brings only enabelment, not happiness. So thank you Paul Kirtley, you have a lot of haters in the bushcraft community. Success is a breeding ground for those people who havnt yet got to that level of humbleness and understanding as of yet, your presentation was crucifying too watch in parts, and I feel for you. Legend

Paul, the only reason I watched this keynote was because of the TA Outdoors video! I learned about you from his videos. Collaboration and sharing are great. I love the mentality you have about the internet. Sharing the love is GOOD! I document a lot of my adventures on KZbin, Instagram, etc., so that I can interact with the community online. Without my internet pals, this bushcraft thing would be a lot more lonely and a lot harder to learn new things. Lots of nuggets of great information in this video, thank you for making it worth my time to listen to.

Great presentation, Paul. Fun and informative as always. Side note - I first learned about you from clicking on a previous online speech you gave (from the 2016 UK Bushcraft Show). Three years on and now I’m enrolled in your excellent Online Bushcraft course and loving it, grateful to be acquainted with this community and soaking up all this knowledge. (quickly descending Mt. Disclaimer: I have a degree in Information Science, so I have a bias towards a particular theory about the steps to wisdom - in particular following the Adler/Ackoff model which interposes understanding thus: Data, Information, Knowledge, Understanding, Wisdom Mr Kirtley is, of course, talking to his fellow professionals in the business of teaching and instructing "Bushcraft", but I found it curious that only once does he mention "understanding" as part of the process: 01:16:02,689 --> 01:16:10,939 " you don't fully understand but when you feel like you do share it and share it ... share what you know" and that in the round-up part towards the end, where he refers to what other speakers have said. That bit seems to have been attributed to Dave Westcott. It's all about instructing, teaching, documenting skills and practices. Perhaps those are the more marketable, commodifiable, aspects of "the 'Craft". The passing reference is for the benefit of fellow professionals - a little ironic given earlier comments about the Gatekeepers! A really nice example of the "understanding" approach is "Understanding Wood Fire" by Mors Kochanski, which is reprinted in Primitive Technology: A Book of Earth Skills By the Society of Primitive Technology. www.amazon.com/Primitive-Technology-Book-Earth-Skills/dp/0879059117

You are certainly a force for good in the Bushcraft knowledge fraternity and deserve your place at the top table. Thank you again.
