In this video, we get honest about why we quit golf for 6 years and play one of the most beautiful courses in Canada where we are reminded of all the reasons there are to love golf.
Keys from this week’s life lesson in golf:
-When things get tough and you feel like quitting, it’s worth taking a long hard look internally at yourself first
-Give yourself permission to do things just for you and simply for the fun of it
-Not everything needs to be controlled. It’s okay to let go and lean into seasons of change or shift your expectations
Golf Course: Greywolf
Location: Panorama, BC
Hi, we are Alyssa and Zach! Former college golfers turned mental performance coach and data scientist who love all things golf, travel, and personal development.
As we travel to play stunning golf courses, our mission is to not only showcase the natural beauty of golf, but also explore tools and lessons that will help you to not only play better golf, but live your best life as well.
We believe golf is a wise teacher that can help us learn a lot about ourselves and about living a fulfilling life.
There is more to life than golf and our goal is to share an approach that helps you thrive at and enjoy both golf and life to the best of your ability.

This 2024 golf season has been our first year back playing after taking a 6-year break from golf. We were burnt out, not enjoying the game, and finding ourselves experiencing more frustration than fun. It is so easy to get wrapped up in this game and we hope that this video serves as a reminder that golf is meant to be enjoyed. When you stop taking it so seriously you just might find yourself having more fun, playing better, and avoiding a lot of negative feelings. Take it from us, for every reason there is to quit, storm off the course, and never come back, there are 2 reasons to keep going. The same is true for life as well. You’ve got this.

This is absolutely the best golf video I have watched in a very long time. And the GC is just magnificent & definitely goes onto my bucket list. I can 100% empathise with the „letting go“ message. I left golf due to the pressure (external & internal) of turning in a good score .. I now am abstinent & just go 2 the driving range 2 practice but no longer actually play. Thank U 4 the inspiration.

Wow, thank you so much for the kind words. Greywolf is absolutely worth a spot on the bucket list - videos don't do its beauty justice! And finally, thank you for sharing your experience with the pressures golf can bring. We can absolutely relate to those feelings of wanting to shoot a good score for yourself, but also because of the power that number seems to yield when it is out there for others to know as well. If you are looking to get back out on the golf course again we hope you can find your way back out there simply for the love and joy of it, without the weight of those pressures and expectations. We know it is easier said than done (and for us some days feel much better than others), but you are certainly not alone in that experience. We are rooting for you! - Alyssa & Zach

Glad you found your way back to a beautiful game. Golf is tricky in that it can easily become more frustration than joy. I am actually glad I'm a mid-handicap golfer because my expectations are lower and I know and accept that I will have both good and poor shots and scores. So, instead I focus on being in nature, spending time with my wife on "golf dates" and my golf buddies, as well as constantly learning how to be just a little better. Being 57 and having developed cervical spine/nerve issues, as well as the beginnings of hip arthritis after many years of an active life, I'm simply grateful to be able to get out on the course. I know that my playing days are not guaranteed, and that makes each round that much more special. I think you've found your way back for a reason. Thanks for the videos.

Golf is certainly tricky in that way - it can be so easy to get in your own head and lose sight of all those reasons you actually came out to the course in the first place. It sounds like you keep a wonderful perspective on things and are able to balance joy and gratitude with growth and improvement... something we are consistently working on! Thank you for your continued wisdom. We are certainly grateful we found our way back to the game and that we have created these connections with people like you who share the sentiment that golf, like many other things in life, are gifts to be appreciated, savored, and shared - not taken for granted. We hope you have many more wonderful rounds of golf ahead. Thank you again for sharing in this journey with us. - Alyssa & Zach
