Scrambling seems imperative for breaking 80. Chipping close and avoiding 3 putts is the way. Thanks for showing us how achievable breaking 80 can be.

I’m about a 15 handicap. Had a general swing lesson as well as a lesson with a driver and it’s been a game changer. I’ll say I’m a pretty boring golfer. Never going for it on par 5s. Laying up giving myself a good yardage in. But one of the biggest changes in my game has been mindset. If I hit a terrible shot off the tee straight away im excited for the challenge of getting back I play then up and down. I’ve had some of the most insane up and downs with this mindset

Had 2 back spacial Drs look at mri,one said fusion, the other said I'm too young for that 42 at the time. He recommended staying active and get a good chiropractor. I happen to get into see a chiropractor that believes golf might be good for my back with the movement and walking and the just getting out. He has become a really good friend and golf buddy.. now when the body isn't out to get me I golf at least once a week. I feel that for the love of this game has kept me out of depression stages and keeps me moving. Keep up the good videos for hacks like me.

Watching this after just breaking 90 for the first time, shot an 87 with the sole triple bogey on 18 😂. I can’t hit a driver straight and opt for a 3 hybrid off the tee which really helped reduce bad approach lies. This advice is solid and hopefully will reach 80 next season (maybe even this one if I get lucky)

Consistency is the key. Once you have consistent shot shape and distance, the rest is just (haha) putting. Short game and putting really save your bacon but since you know approximately where your shot will go, planning actually comes into play. Love your videos! Adam, your game around the green is great. Your putting is also well above average. The fact that you now drive the ball over 250 regularly has only added to your lowered scores. Have you picked up distance from working with swingtweaks, or with your personal golf coach? BTW, your 3W should have been used more often off the tee. You strike that club well. Have you ever considered a hywood?

@NotAScratchGolfer

Thanks! Yes, I am in Vancouver. It's tough to get tee times on short notice in Vancouver. There are 3 munis in Vancouver (Fraserview is the best of those 3) and you can search for tee times there by using teetimes.vancouver.ca. Morgan Creek (about 45 mins south of Vancouver) is the best conditioned public course where you may be able to snag a tee time. Northview (Ridge Course) is a nice track that used to host a PGA tour event, also about 40 minutes away from the City. If you want a unique mountain course with cool views, there's Northlands in North Vancouver. A lot of target golf there. 30 mins from there is a course with SPECTACULAR views but a really circus-y layout, called Furry Creek. Great if you want nothing but views. Hope some of that is helpful!

Adam - Were you part of this brawl at Riverway a few weeks ago? "It’s official. Golf is a combat sport now. No matter which course you play or what app you scroll, you’ll find golfers of all shapes, sizes and ages locked in physical warfare over the slightest indiscretions. Ungiven gimmes, errant tee shots into neighboring yards, pace of play. You name it, golfers have thrown down over it, including these knuck-chucking Canucks who were seen beating the maple syrup out of each other during a morning tee time at Riverway Golf Course last weekend."

Great round Adam! I think your philosophy of keeping drives in play and focusing on a developing a great short game is a model for the rest of us. But I feel Matt's (Golf Sidekick) is unrealistic about only needing 6 GIR to break 80 on a regular basis. Numbers from Arcos show that 5 Hcps average eight greens in regulation per round, while 10 Hcps average six GIR per round. I think 8 GIR gives a little flex for the occasional double bogey and less of a lights-out short game.
@NotAScratchGolfer
@NotAScratchGolfer 5 ай бұрын
Average is the operative word here. I average ~6.5 GIRs per round, which is certainly below "average" for my handicap level. But my chipping/putting is above average for my handicap level. Like I said, many ways to score!

i said it before, i am saying it again.... 2 shot penalty on the 3rd and 7th ( +4 ) for straddling... i see this time and time again, when golfers miss a put and the ball happens to stay inches away, which sometimes then leads to the golf not paying attention to details, pushing the ball in, while standing on the line of play. on hole 2 you should've re-teed and hit 3 instead of taking a one stroke penalty and hitting 3 from 134 , no wonder why its easy to break 80 when your cheating lol

Hit distances that are more than average, just play from the ladies tees. Lets call it breaking 80. I totally with you that golf should be fun and what ever floats your boat. But breaking 80 is not easy for an average golfer. Yes your swing is ugly as shit, but it brings results and that quite consitend. A you cant call this breaking 80 from ladies tees B your swing is to good to say that everybody can do it

Ladies tees? It was a 6,400 yard course, which is the distance for most men's tees in Western Pennsylvania (typicallly 6,000-6,500 yards). The only ladies tees that are 6,400 yards are in LPGA events.
