Why We're Leaving The Good and The Beautiful and Switching to Math U See for First Grade

We use Math u see and love it. I have used TGATB as a supplemental program when my oldest hit a road block. I did ask my oldest last year for her 9th grade year if she wanted to switch math up and she did not want to. She likes math u see and wants to continue through Highschool.

I actually use both curriculums at the same time. I know what your thinking, “why?!”. Well my charter school does not except tgatb for a sample. So we do tgatb for 4 days a week like it suggests and 1 day a week we use math u see. They actually work pretty well together. It works for us.

@@Whatswithbrii yes so far my children are doing really well with it and they love the layout of it so we are definitely sticking with it for now.

We completed Primer this past year for Kindergarten and my daughter finished it in 4 months. She's very math minded and we had to bump her up to first grade workbooks for the rest of the year.

This is really good to hear. Did you do multiple lessons a day to finish in 4 months? Or did you just jump ahead?

@@Heavenlyhomeschool There were 30 lessons and we averaged three a week. I think we spent a week or two on place value and maybe skip counting but she flew through everything else. And then they apparently reteach everything again in Alpha.

I just found your channel and that’s a perfect timing!! We are finishing TGTB K and was planning to do 1st grade, but then bought the MUS this week 😅 I’m still going back and forth for next school year 😂

Idk why I hated math u see. It was very boring for me(adhd mom) so we switched back to the good and the beautiful. & now I'm rethinking cause tg&tb is to spiral(I think that's what you would call it). 🤦🏼‍♀️ so now looking into math with confidence since its kinda a mix!

Homeschool mom here - we LOVE Math-U-See! It has been great for all three of my kids, and they each learn a bit differently. For other subjects, we've been using BookShark, which is literature based. We love it as well!

So the Math-U-See website does not sell the manipulative’s with the wooden storage? I’ve been trying to find it on there and can not.
