Try using 50% hot water and 50% glycerin….make angle cut on stem and slice up center an inch or two (to allow more absorption) . Only soak stems for 2-3 days…then remove from solution. This will allow enough glycerin to soften and preserve but not enough to totally darken the blooms.

Hi Fran! In the video you mentioned leaving it as long as possible, right? I want to try this method with Roses. How long do you think I should leave them in the glycerin + hot water mixture? I want to try to preserve them :) Thanks for the advice! Much appreciated.

For Roses, after soaking 2-3 days, you would still need to hang upside down in dim lit well aerated room until completely dried. If left in glycerin mix too long, the petals get heavy and weighted down….that is why we only allow 2-3 days. Hanging upside down to dry out encourages straight stem & heads.

Hi! This sounds totally good! I want to preserve baby's breath with glycerin. How long should I leave it? Can it get done faster, if I cut the flower into smaller parts? And what do I do after glycerin and how long? (I want to pack and send it in an arrangement, but how do I know it's ready?)

Glycerin is used on fresh cut stems….it is mixed with warm water, agitated a bit, then stems stand in it and take it up…thus becoming supple. I am not sure why you spray it on plants? Tell me more…Fran

She’s not spraying it on, the stems are sitting in the glycerine water.
