You make some faulty conclusions here. First of all, sunburn is NOT the only thing that’s harmful to the skin. UVB rays are, yes, and they burn, but so too are UVA rays which burn very little but penetrate the skin much deeper and continual exposure to that does break down collagen fibers and elastin in the skin, leading to aging of the skin. And home windows do NOT block out all the UVA rays. We don’t need exposure all day every day to UVA for good health. Just because we do and it’s natural doesn’t mean it’s good. Appeal to nature fallacy. Over your lifetime UVA radiation adds up in terms of DNA damage and aging and skin cancer risk. Just ask most nurses about the butts of elderly people. It’s usually the best looking skin on their bodies and it’s mostly because it’s the least exposed to UVA throughout our lifetimes. That’s what UVA does to our skin. Most people get the benefits of sun with sunscreen on top because the parts of your body such as your hair which doesn’t have sunscreen get it. And even then we only need little, not tons of hours per day.

You don't need it to survive. Also as stated they have no clue what half of the ingredients do, other than how much SPF/blockage they are rated for; one scientific one which did this, even notes that some of it may be absorbed through the skin, which is true, but no study on what that may do over time. However, I would say it does help. I usually get some kind of annoying spot or blistering, and live in the tropical areas. This is especially true at peak UV hours, it only takes like a few minutes to possibly cause an issue that will take 1-2 weeks to heal fully. It is 'hugely noticable' to go someplace at like 9AM at beginning UV hours vs like 1PM, unless you truly do not care at all. The thing is it does not block 'everything'. You seem to be making that assumption. It just seems to prevent those major damages, the sunscreen will lighten or take most of it. You would notice if you actually try it on a really directly sunny environment. Also darker skin tones simply 'mask' these problems, so they still have them, but they don't even notice/see them. That is also why people wear protective wear from the sun regularly; you really think you need sun protection only for visual effect? You will still tan and get reactions, even with some of it, but I notice that afterward, there are simply none or far less issues, whereas ignoring it may potentially cause an issue. It will still cause a noticable difference and it is better to use it. Of course don't simply use any, use a trusted brand and test no bad reactions from it due to varying ingredients.

As a freshly green provider myself, I do believe that there’s no substituting for experience for which I assume you have mounds over me, however, theoretically I do not feel that your points have much validity. Your initial and bulk argument comes from sunscreen denying us the benefits of sun exposure. You listed a few exogenous benefits, such as being able to enjoy flowers blooming and environmental changes. However, wearing sunscreen would more than likely promote that since you would feel more protective being outside. Second, both increases in dopamine and serotonin related to sun exposure occur through neuro-optic pathways (Eyes reaction to sun rays) and have much less to do with your skin. We could make the argument that theoretically you may see a decrease in vitamin D levels through sunscreen usage, which could negatively affect mood and chronically negatively impact bone density. However, as shown within the article I am attaching there’s no relevant data that shows a decrease in vitamin D levels related to usage of sunscreen daily. Last, your risk stratification choices undermines the most important benefit of sunscreen. Within your video, you risk stratify sunburn versus chemical exposure. Instead, it should be skin cancer prevention (which is the most common skin cancer within the USA) and chemical exposure. An important aspect of chemical exposure that we need to mention that you don’t within your video, is a difference between a chemical exposure and a toxic threshold. Each possible toxin has a threshold that needs to be achieved in order to cause harm to a patient. We must first evaluate how much exposure we are getting before we can determine if it is a detriment to our health instead of just placing a blanket statement that “toxins are bad”. Many ingredients with vaccines for instance are theoretically toxins, however, the levels of them within the vaccine and they are relatively harmless. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/30945275/
