I’ve only ever had a sunburn once or twice. The second time was a tiny one on my shoulders, but the first one was crazy! I was on vacation in Mexico as a kid, and it’s very hot there. We wore tank tops/shorts and other similar clothing, so our skin was exposed. Even though we kept swimming around in the outdoor pool, most of us were still very warm. Eventually, I jumped into the pool and submerged my shoulders aND IT BURNED. I remember freaking out and finding out I had gotten a sunburn on my shoulders and it was surprisingly painful

Sunburn caused me a 2nd degree. I stayed at hospital for 5 days. My shoulders was full of blisters. My legs was hurting so bad that I couldn’t walk. I went to pool with my friends for 8 hours without an umbrella and with a wrong sun cream. The doctors started peeling off my skin(removing the blisters) and it was very hurtful. While their skin has more natural protection from the sun than lighter skin tones due to higher levels of pigment, the pigment doesn't block all light. In fact, a 2010 CDC study found that 13% of Black women and 9% of Black men reported getting a sunburn in the past year, compared to the average of 50.1% across all ethnicities and genders. The UV Rays will still cause cancer, and you can get burned and not shows all symptoms.

With growing up in the Florida keys, I had relatives constantly in the sun getting sunburned as it was a normal occurances but also skin cancer that reduces your life by years and this occured to several relatives much like many of your families. Later in life, I can't take the heat yet still live in Florida. I want to move to a colder climate but own way to much and our economy is just not great at the moment to sell off.
@hermanmcleod51822 жыл бұрын
You don't own anything, you just think you own, this world was here long before you, and it'll be here long after you radioactively decay. Sunburn happens everywhere on the planet. You can go back to the caucus mountains and still die from radiation poisoning. You can't hide from the sun. Lack of sunlight is a death sentence. What you need is carbon 14. It's all around you, yet you lack it. It's like being on a boat in the middle of the ocean and dying of thirst. Water is all around you yet you can't take advantage of it. Your whole world is made up of Carbon. Everything from your phone to your clothes, but you can't take advantage of it.

Also a factor is the amount of melanin created by your melanocytes cells. People that have more melanin have darker skin color. A person with black or brown colored skin more resilient against suburn than a person with white colored skin being that there is more melanin in the person with black or brown colored skin. Melanin also effects light which enters into a person's eyes. People that have brown or hazel colored eyes have more melanin so the luminosity of the light is less than a person with blue or green eyes who lack melanin in their eyes. So let's say at night the bright headlights of a vehicle would cause less issues with a person with brown colored eyes than with a person with blue colored eyes. But with a lower amount of light a person with blue eyes would be able to see more clearly than a person with brown colored eyes in which their vision would be darker. The reason why people have a variety of colors of skin and eye colors is the result of migration and evolution.
@Wafflehouse713 жыл бұрын
Cool, I guess..
@RibiRoo3 жыл бұрын
Actually, it's not the fact that darker skinned people have more melanin then their lighter counter-parts, but it's a whole different melanin all together. What darker people produce is Eumelanin, which is carbon based. Lighter people have what is called pheomelanin and this is sulfuric based.
@nativetexanful2 жыл бұрын

I once forgot to apply sunscreen to my legs before going to the beach, only realized after a couple of hours. At first it didn't seem that bad, my skin was just a little red... Then I woke up the next day with tennis-ball blisters on my legs. That was one of the most painful mistakes I've made. Weeks of excruciating pain everytime I had to move my legs, Tylenol and Codeine barely contained it. Never ever forget to apply sunscreen to all parts of your skin that are going to be exposed to the sun.

Glad I'm Spanish (native), as that means I tan brown instead of become orange or red like Germanics. My eyes are brown so less light is reflected in them meaning I can deal with sunlight slightly better than light-eyed people. I lived in Miami most of my life, and now in Scambodia. I want to go to a desert. I hate humidity.

A while ago I went on holiday and was out in the beating hot Australian sun in the middle of summer swimming 2 days in a row, without a shirt. And to make it worse, I have really sensitive and fair skin. You can imagine how the skin on my back and shoulders was pretty much destroyed. Also, when I was young I use to get sunburn all the time, especially on my face. As a result I had many many freckles, but fortunately I have been very careful since then and the freckles have almost faded completely, which is a good sign that my face has not been severely burnt in a long time. Ever since I first became aware of the consequences of being burnt all the time, I have had a big paranoia of skin cancer. And this video certainly didn't help the paranoia lol.

I’m not black I’m a good chunk native american but also a mutt of things caucasion. I appear white in the winter but in the summer it’s very very rare I get sunburned even when I’m out in the sun for long periods of time. Usually the very beginning of spring I start to tan then by summer there is a 0-2 window where I get burned.

When it comes to the sun, I'm pretty much a vampire. I don't like the heat from it, or the light. I can get sunburned within an hour of constant exposure. As a result of my aversion to sunlight, I'm very pale, but I find having pale skin makes me look attractive. My mom complains about my pallor, and tries to get me to enjoy daylight, but she seems to forget that I'm a different person. I also look younger since the lack of sunlight has slowed my skin's aging process, and the fact that I'm pretty short in stature, so I could pass for 16.

The best way to stop UV radiation in houses and cars is with UV400 film. it allows the light in but stops uva and uvb rays, it's great if you want a lot of light in the house but doesn't want your skin to get damaged

I am actually a mixture of Black and Native American Indian from my father. Let’s digress from that though. Being rude is unnecessary, no one asked you to be an annoying disruption. Here, you are doing that though. Mind your own business.

So I come from a family of gingers (Red hair, freckles, pale skin...) meaning long exposure to the sun is my mortal enemy. I have gotten some pretty bad sunburns before in the past, and as a result I've learned a few things that I'm going to pass on to all of you here in the comments section. YOU'RE WELCOME 1. As stated in the video, always go for at least SPF 30 or higher. In my family, we generally use SPF 50 or 60...and buy sweat and waterproof as well. The worst sunburn I have experienced was when I was still in Elementary School, and my family was on vacation. It was in fact the last day of our vacation and we were going to the beach one last time. I borrowed some of my cousins sunscreen because all of ours was already packed up or had been used up. Admittedly I went out and played in the water a lot as well (and this was in the 90s when waterproof and sweatproof was just starting to come out), and we were there for a few hours. I left with a sunburn ALL OVER (except my face). As it turned out my cousins sunscreen was EXPIRED. YES. SUNSCREEN CAN EXPIRE. So check your bottles of sunscreen every year, and make sure to buy NEW BOTTLES to replace expired stuff.

I’m a natural blonde, and I’m so white it’s blinding. In 1980, when I was 10, I spent a few hours swimming with friends at a neighbors house. The fun ended when I almost drown, and had to be pulled out of the deep end. Anyway, later that afternoon, my friend and I was put in a bathtub of cool water for a bit. After we got out, we were put in large tee shirts soaked in vinegar. They were re-soaked in vinegar just before bedtime. The tee shirt felt great until I woke up the next morning with it stuck to my back from the blisters breaking while I slept. Then it was 1,2,3 pull off the tee shirt as quickly as you can. It wouldn’t have hurt so bad if they wet the tee shirt before pulling it off, but that’s life sometimes. I literally had huge blisters on top of huge blisters every night for a little over a week, so it was the same routine the entire time. My friend just had regular blisters, so he wasn’t burnt as badly. I’m 51 now, and I still have scars from that nightmare of a few hours swimming so many years ago.
