I grew up in the 70's and 80's when "The Closest" was a necessity. My best friends parents had an in law cottage on their property. The husband's boyfriend lived in it as a "tenant", and it worked for their family. The father was an exec at a financial firm in San Francisco that was extremely conservative. They're all still together to this day. They mom lives in the main house with her 2nd husband. The father lives in the expanded cottage with his now husband, then boyfriend. I'm going to tell them about this show, it's a hoot.
