I think the takeaway from the whole thing with the concept of Mad Claws can be summed up from how both Zalbar and Hanrarr took the titles personally. Zalbar when it was placed on him, he quickly realised what he did and even though he did quickly pull back after that episode, it still left a negative impact on him and made feel ashamed. With Hanrarr, it was the complete opposite he took the whole concept with pride thinking of it as a badge of honor in a sense because of how much of a sociopath he was.

Wookiee’s like species in the Galaxy have had many bad apple within their history, and the Mad Claws are not just criminals who sought to cause harm to others, but they are a reminder to all their race of how close they really are to their inner beast that lives within all of them. Mad Claws are Wookiee’s that have gone absolutely insane or have abandoned all forms of honor within their species, and though some become little more than hired muscles to criminals, but a select few they become absolute monsters that will haunt the nightmares of their people and those across the Galaxy.

I think a mad claw is a once in a generation thing for wookies. Chewie was so in control that he even kept his cool when Han was murdered in front of him. If he was going to lose it he would have done it then and there having lost his honor and his best friend at the same time.

The only time I remember actually seeing a Wookiee ripping his gaming opponent's arm off for beating him was when a drunken Wookiee did it to I-5YQ in the second book of the Medstar Duology. In SWtOR, there's also a pair of NPCs in Nemro the Hutt's palace sat across a gaming table from each other; a Wookiee and a protocol droid with both arms ripped off, implying that it happened a little before Imperial players walked in but we don't see the act.

I always liked in Timothy Zahn's SW novels from the EU how he added the detail Wookies had retractable climbing claws on their heels to help them move about the trees with ease. Little details like this make a difference to many readers. Something the writers at Disney and their live action films and shows have always failed to notice and implement. Like where were Cad Banes rocket boots in live action? The rocket boots gave him a tactical advantage over almost any foe he faced and constantly got him out of trouble. But leave it to Disney to ruin him like they always do to legacy characters. Cool vid as always though man. I wish the SW producers would reach out to guys like you who could help them accurately portray more of the SW characters.

I think whether I was going to be comfortable around a wookiee or not would depend upon one thing more than any other... How do you define slavery. I personally identify with the concept of intangible slavery, for me not possessing the ability to act counter to one's own instincts is the opposite of sentience... and at that point it is quite accurate to state that such a being is in fact a slave unto others as well as unto themselves (these kinds of people I detest spending time around). If the wookiee were in agreement on this then I would trust him more not to lose his temper over frivolous things, otherwise I would simply state we had no reason for getting to know one another better and simply walk away. That being said, I would probably hold all members of all species to this same standard (as I so often do in real-life).

I remember context being a massive thing for the old star wars movies. Han Solo basically pulled intimidation just to harass C3PO. The knights of the old republic references were on point, though. Instead of being the blustering babies that don't like losing games, wookies generally had honor and wisdom, being one of the species with a significant life span.

I thought Han was being coy when he said to let Chewie win. Especially with the way Chewie acted after, it seemed like he was bluffing. Chewie also seemed too proper to go into a rage for something like that. And Han and Leia also goaded him quite a bit in A New Hope, with Leia calling him a rug and shoving him out of the way while Chewie still kept his cool. I know that Wookies could go into rages and stuff for minor reasons, but that seems to be the exception not the rule. Like how humans can go into rages for no reason, but 99 percent can control their anger. Hell Chewie could even control himself when Han was murdered in front of him despite owing a life debt to him, which should have been a BIG reason for the sake of his honor and loss of his best friend. Especially with Chewie being a "noble" son Wookie(I think his dad was a chief or something) It doesn't seem likely to apply to wookies in general more, this is a bad Wookie that is very rare. Watch out cause they can be insanely dangerous but that a once in a generation thing.
