The newer 4.0L V8 TT is a decent engine but sounds weak compared to the last 5.5L TT version. Plus, the newer E63 and 63S models from 2017 to current have that 4.0L V8 and 9 spd auto which is a dodge trans, not an AMG only sourced unit like the old 7 spd. And despite the newer (2017-present day E63 563 hp/552 tq and the S has 603 hp/627 tq), they’re actually about 100 lbs heavier due to more technology and electronics. I’d go for the tried and true E55 m113k 2005-2008 bullet proof motors or the 2013-2016 m157 TT E63 & 63S, or the 550 models with the 4.7L V8 M278 TT. In 2014 they went to awd and the standard 63 engine had 531 Phanerozoic the S had 577 hp. This 5.5L V8 from 2012 to 2016 was a derivative of the 4.7 which was around before and first showed up 2000 as a NA 5.0 then a 5.5 and 5.4L Supercharged e genie I the m113k series cars and carried over in 2007 as a E550 and E55. Became E63 (6.2L V8)… The 550 nomenclature continued and was a newer twin turbo reduced to a 4.7… good engine. The NA 6.2 was not as reliable. Not close actually. They we the next best engines after the M113k engines in the old 55 series cars.

Actually the big three mags, motortrend and car and driver tend to overstate performance figures and power to help the manufacturer sell the brand. Road and track not so much. And, if you want a good non biased compare, motorweek tests most vehicles too.

lb ft of torque on this car is higher then the hp you're getting the numbers wrong. 603 hp on dyno with 625 lb ft of torque on the dyno. Has two turbos with awd system not possible for the torque to be less than hp

TOI be honest,.. I believe that there might be a german law as for several years,.. car's like this and the porsche turbo were oddly enough the same 577 HP. I have a 2014 E63 AMG wagon that beats mustangs, challengers, porsches etc., regularly. Getting a Renntech tune on is in the next month to bring it closer to 700-720 HP.

Actually got that information from Motor Trend, they dyno this car and according to them the power output was different than what Merc says it has.

@@Battlepants82 Perhaps you should do some research. European car makers like Mercedes and BMW often under sell their horsepower numbers, there are videos and forum posts all over the place of people dyno testing stock cars and getting far higher power numbers than what is advertised.
