It's disappointing that Shad would take my footage and clip it out of context to make me look bad. It's also sad that he went back through almost a years worth of my progress test cutting, and found my very first video on it, and showed the worst cut from that video. He could have found many videos of me performing Cool cuts that I've posted much more recently. It's also hard to understand how he missed the disclaimer I put at the beginning and the end of the foam greatsword video, or I stated that because of the safety concerns we couldn't fence with steel greatswords, so this wasn't a conclusive experiment. Mostly just for fun. I would love to know why he chose to do this. I hope he accepts the live stream invitation that I sent him in the full video 😁

He won't. If he was as intellectually dishonest to do this, wilfully and knowingly portray you as such when you clearly provide us with the adequate disclaimers? Yeah he will not accept a live setting where he cannot bend the facts to fit his narrative. You and Skallagrim got me into this nartial art and got me to get my first kit (now on its way) do something live with Skall! He is a real one. Shadversity has a knack for completely undermining others hardwork and determination for creating his own "content". Ever since he began dabbling in AI art (and quite frankly, a bit before then) he has shown his envy and disdain for those who work harder than him. I dont know if he still has as big of a fan base, but I think he has lost a lot of his credibility and I hope this brings to attention his loss of credibility.

Shad has let the success he has experienced go to his head and has turned into a toxic personality that lashes out constantly. He used to be a really cool small author who would share historical elements and talk about writing techniques... Now he picks fights and bangs his chest. He went after a video game channel as well called Angry Joes in a very similar way. Bet his next ploy will be to pretend he just wants to have dialogue and understanding. In reality, he's just a bully.

He’s intellectually dishonest. He always does things like this. Like the time he tried to rewrite the definition HEMA to include his self-made foam fighting style just so he could call himself a HEMA instructor. He played a semantic game with the acronym saying that anything that might have possibly been done in history counts as HEMA because the H stands for history. Ignoring the fact that HEMA has an accepted and specific definition (practicing from confirmed sources) by the people who do it. That’s like trying to say that sumo wrestling is WWE because it takes place in the world.

I can’t believe that no one has asked this question (that I’ve seen), but why are foam swords not a good approximation of steel weapons? I own two steel swords and some foam swords of very similar (if not equal) size, weight, and balance. Why are they not equivalent for sparring?
@Gruftkriecher4 ай бұрын
More of an armchair warrior here with very occasional "training" so I merely have some suggestions/questions: Do they "flex" in a similiar way? Is the impact blade/blade or blade/target the same as they are specifically build to soften the impact? Do they bind in a similiar way foam/foam vs. metal/metal? I mean even with steel weapons it is kind of hard to get a 1:1 representation as we usually don´t try to kill each other and the more one deviates from the sources the more variables, uncertainties and inaccuracies will be introduced. And I somehow doubt they are really similiar in proportions and weight as this just boils down to difference in material: the higher density of one material in comparision to the other.
@KodyackCasual4 ай бұрын
weight aside, as you say yours are the same; air resistance, flex, reverberation, and shock. The short version of all of that is that it will swing differently; foam is less air resistant than steel, and has different ways of moving through it. it will flex differently when colliding with a different blade. The edge wouldn't "clang" it will squish. Good for safety, not good for realistic clashes metal transfers energy better than foam, so it's a different feel when the blade collides with anything and shock follows that; if you've ever used a metal bat without a grip for baseball, your hands go numb fast. A wooden bat with a grip feels better for a bit, but has other drawbacks (and breaks easier) There's more, but that's just what I can express.
@suckieduckie4 ай бұрын

Shad has got so bad that it almost seems like the guys he has doing videos for him almost like it better when he isn't around. Kinda sad to see how much things went to his head.
